Barnes & Noble

The only Barnes & Noble on Staten Island. I use to love coming here back when I was in college and needed to go shopping for textbooks. They have a great selection in other literature as well if you’re just looking to kill some time and do light browsing. From my experience, the staff are very friendly. They have a Starbucks downstairs if you just want to grab a coffee with someone. Definitely worth a visit even if you’re not a reader.

these stores are a dying breed. so when we came across, we u turn to get there. there’s nothing like flipping thru a new mag.
They have a pretty good craft magazine section: crochet and knitting mags, for both beginners and experienced.
I used to go to the one on broadway and 23^rd ave :-(miss it.

ive been coming here for years and Im a fan of this place. Some points about this location.
— Two floors (1^st fl: music, magazines, bestselling books, some nonfiction, nook tablet, CAFE!) (2^nd fl: children’s section, test prep books, cooking etc, science, fiction etc)
— Store associates are sometimes hard to find but generally helpful and nice.
— Popular spot for browsing books, families checking out books with kids, and studying (café)
— Lots of parking spots
— Late hours (on Friday and Sat, open until 11pm which is great)
— The café is the ***BEST PART*** you can sit and read, study for hours. The desserts, sandwiches are also delicious. Sometimes, people stay too long (i feel like Barnes and Nobles should maybe start charging for renting tables lol) but anyhow, it’s a good place to clear your mind and even catch up with friends.
— Brick and mortar stores are still better than Amazon/​e Books :)

Honestly I’ve been to way better Barnes and nobles. They should have picked a better staff to work in the Starbucks café because the older lady yells at you for every little thing. What an unpleasant women. Me and my family ordered drinks, food and purchased books, and my mother keeps a water bottle on her at all times. Just in case it’s for medical reasons. The older lady worker screams if it’s not our brand throw it out or put it away! After we spent like 40 bucks total for my whole family! Plain rude! Everytime I see she’s there we all dread dealing with her! Honestly whoever does the inventory for the new age section needs updates! It is year 2015 and I find horoscope books for year 2012 not on clearance! It seems like that section is withering away! I can’t find any new books in that section at all! And honestly it’s going down hill! There losing major money especially when they allow college students to sit in the café all day and charge there lap tops for free! I think those people need to have a time limit! Doesn’t anyone use the library for that?!? Or have a home? Overall this place sucks!

I liked this barnes and noble, it was decent. I thought the book selection is a little small, but it does have a dvd section, and kids section. The toy and games area was pretty good. The people there shopping were a little loud, but that’s staten island. The parking lot was an irritation but it was large.

My drink was perfect. The café is extremely small considering the amount of traffic this two floor Barnes seems to get. The constant shuffling of chairs reminded me of that kids game we used to play. I briefly left my table to take advantage of the fact that there was no line at the register and saw this little old lady stealing my chair. Sigh. All available outlets are tucked in one corner of the café; therefore, all the laptop users were crammed in that section. That was a sight to see. The café as well as the rest of the bookstore was pretty clean, quiet. The bathroom was not awful. They closed at 7 pm for Easter Sunday.

This is the only Barnes and Noble we have here in Staten Island. It’s a nice and big location. They also have a Starbucks here. But unfortunately they don’t take the regular Starbucks gold cards because it’s a «Starbucks café». The employees are just okay. Sometimes I’ve had horrible experiences with them and others they were alright. Never as helpful and knowledgable as the staff I’ve encountered at other Barnes and noble locations.

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because it’s big and has a nice coffee shop. The staff in the café was pleasant, but that’s literally about it.
I’ve worked at a Barnes and Noble before. The management was always up on our case about aligning the displays, alphabetizing and making sure everything looks neat and clean. I went to the Young Adult section in this location, and I was horrified. There were different books stacked behind a title in the «New Release» shelf. This wasn’t the case for one or two stacks, but around fifteen of the titles had three different books stacked behind them. They had fantasy books stacked meticulously in the romance section. There were stacks of books ALL over the shelves. NOTHING was alphabetized. They didn’t have a good collection of books; I couldn’t find the first book to five or six extremely popular series.
Perhaps I’m overreacting. But like I said before, I’ve worked in a B&N, and the management made sure the employees were walking around the store constantly, fixing anything that needed fixing. It seemed like the employees in this location hadn’t visited the YA section (or the sections surrounding the YA section for that matter) in over a year.
Horrendous.

Parking, coffee and books. Oh my.
The only problem was my bf has to read 3 books all at once but the staff was cool and you can pretty much read whatever you without even purchasing it. Nice selection of Audio books

Store has a great selection. Good for college texts and a wide variety of material. Some of the floor workers are very knowledgeable.
BUT BEWARE… The 2 young blond girls that work in customer service are the pits! They’re consistently rude and arrogant. Was there this time at 3pm on ⁹⁄₁₄ for a billing question involving simple math and neither one was able to assist. One pulled out this old calculator and just scratched her head because she didn’t know how to calculate a return and a credit. Got very nasty and rude when I tried to tell her what to add and subtract. They also both gave wrong info which was later cleared by a register person. Some customer service.

Its really big, always has any book or magazine you could possibly need. Too bad they got rid of the chairs from the upstairs area where you could sit and read. But I guess too many people were just relaxing and not buying. Downstairs the café is nice but very uncomfortable. The seats are hard and tables are small if you are bringing your laptop. Foods are good, and drinks are made right.

I usually study in the café, the place is kept neat, the staff is friendly, they make the Carmel macchiato the best!

A reader’s heaven. I only go here when I have hours to waste because I literally look around the whole store. I love all the bargain books on the first floor, definitely worth a look. The sales people are all helpful and take the time to find what you’re looking for. Not the biggest fan of the bootleg Starbucks because since it’s a «café» they don’t take Starbucks gift cards and sometimes they don’t have some of the seasonal flavors. The plus is if you have a Barnes and Noble card you can get the discount. The parking lot is pretty decent, but abide by the traffic rules when leaving the main entrance– I’ve seen many people get tickets for going straight when you’re only supposed to go right.

I’m giving this place three starts only because it is very large and clean, and there is also a Starbucks (my personal favorite) However every single time my kids have book reports or literature they need to read for school. This barns and noble never has anything, you usually have to order it and wait considering this is the only bookstore I know of on the island I’m not so happy with their selection. The staff is friendly and courteous and always trying to help.

Hands on Lego building station too as well train station for kids. Great place to study and just spend hours getting lost in books.

Simple, Four stars!

One of my favorite stores! I could walk around in this store for hours. They have all the new releases right in the front and the sales/​clearance section never disappoints either. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection on items other than books, so this is another great store for a last minute gift. Starbucks being inside is a plus! Plenty of parking, but you can only make a right coming out the exit by the light, so leave out of the rear exits to make it easier on you.

Store is huge and the staff very friendly and helpful. Easy to get to in Heartland Village near the Staten Island Mall. 2 floors, Starbucks Café, not too crowded on a rainy Saturday.

Been there two times for school the options of getting college text books are supper low. There’s only so little book well certain book not too much options but really good place to study and just to go if your a book lover.

My boyfriend & I go to Barnes & Noble a lot since it’s became our homework/​study place nowadays. He and I decided to check out the Staten Island Barnes & Noble and do our homework.
I must say this wasn’t the worse nor the best Barnes & Noble I’ve been to. The parking lot was a reasonable size. I must say that I have to give kudos to the café section because it’s spacious and they actually have a few outlets where you can charge your phone, laptop, or any electronic really while sipping on your coffee or reading. Of course, you’ll have to be very lucky to grab a seat next to the outlets.
I didn’t get to experience their customer service, so not sure how the employees are like. Unfortunately, this was the FIRST Barnes & Noble that I’ve been to where the restroom was just an absolute NO NO, for me. It wasn’t properly cleaned, pieces of toilet paper was laying on the floor, and what ticked me off the most was (sorry to say this), but there was urine on one of the seats in one of the stalls (of course I didn’t use that stall). I expect my schools bathrooms, restaurant bathrooms, and park bathrooms to be dirty and etc, but Barnes & Noble really? YUCK! If you ever find yourself in this particular Barnes & Noble and your a woman and need to use the bathroom, I would just be cautious and careful.
I ‘m usually a generous reviewer when it comes to Barnes & Noble because I hardly find dislikes and faults in it, but cleanliness does matter to me and since this Barnes & Noble failed in cleanliness, I will have to stand by with just 3 stars.
