Maybe its just me but I think this place is kinda dirty. Prices are high. Nothing you couldn’t really find across the street or in any other Italian deli.

Don’t know what happened here. Was a great customer for well over 15 years. The nasty owner Larry changed that fast. Delivered the wrong order after I called three times to make sure he understood. When I called the store, he promised to make good on it. A half hour before my party, he delivered more food but nothing that I had originally ordered. When I complained, he accused me of trying to not pay him, told me he saw my true colors, and hung up on me! I paid the delivery young man in full of course but will NEVER step foot in there again. They got it all wrong and I got aggravation right before a party.

Came here because I needed lunch in the area and was craving a good sandwich. Good reviews, good food, but overall, mediocre experience. A big part of that is just that they’re NOT a quick place. Despite being deli-style, the people behind the deli counter seem to be unused to dealing with customers, getting orders right, etc. It was SLOW… only about five people in line, but it took me 20 minutes to even get an order in. And then they messed it up. Asked for grilled chicken with mozzarella and sun-dried tomato, got breaded chicken cutlets with roast red peppers. Still good, but not really what I asked for. That said, the sandwich that I ended up getting was still quite good, which redeemed it somewhat. Kind of weird thing if you’re ordering a sandwich… they expect you to grab a roll from the basket and then bring it to them to order with. Kinda cool in the sense that you can evaluate all the rolls and stuff, but unusual. Other than the deli counter, I didn’t spend much time in the grocery section but it’s small and doesn’t seem to have the best selection. Fine, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here.

My family has been coming to this place since before I was born. 10 years of us living off of Staten Island, and we still manage to come back here, just for the deli meats, and fresh mozzarella(mutzadel, this is NY after all.) Everything is so fresh, and the prices reasonable. Highly recommended for catering.

This is a great salumeria with fresh produce, salads, baked goods and they have a great butcher. they make awesome hot and cold sandwiches. Make sure you get here early for lunch or super early to pick something for dinner because it gets packed quickly with limited parking.

What can I say? Unilocal and DeMonte saved the day. I was in charge of hosting my son’s tailgate at Wagner College and not being from SI I had to rely on Unilocal reviews. Freddy was tremendously helpful and generous. He was willing to work with our budget and provided ample portions of great quality. We ordered Baked Ziti, Sausage & Peppers, Chicken, Sausage & Potatoes and Meatballs. Everything was great, especially the meatballs and it all arrived hot and on time. The delivery guy was great and super helpful. Our players were rewarded with tasty, hot food and a great win in a tight game.

DeMonte’s has been an Eltingville staple for many years, and even though the competition for great Italian dishes is fierce, Larry and Freddy pull it off every time. Great deli and salads!

You cannot get good Italian bread in Jersey — my opinion. Staten Island is the closest you can get to it — if you feel like splurging on that big rip-off of a bridge, continue on to Brooklyn. But Staten Island is teeming with great choices. This is one of them. Loved their bread. They advertise it’s fresh and it tastes that way — you can always tell when something is frozen(it’s not). I’m the jerk driving away eating the ass-end of the bread. Fresh sopressata was delicious.

If you’re thinking of getting Italian food catered for any event or holiday, go here. NOW. We ordered full trays of the following: stuffed shells, eggplant parm, baked ziti, broccoli rabe, salad, calamari, sausage and peppers and chicken franchise. As a vegetarian, I can only speak for the first five and I can confidently say: this was some of the best Italian food I have ever had. And everyone in attendance loved it, as well. The only minor complaint was that the calamari was rubbery, but this is obviously because reheating a fried dish is always going to be ehhh. It was foolish to order that to begin with. Everything else, though: perfection. Go here.
