History

Established in 1987.

Founded by George D. Kofinas, M.D., FACOG, the Kofinas Fertility Institute is a private, independent fertility center providing advanced reproductive treatments to couples with infertility issues in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Manhattan.

We have been a pioneer of advanced fertility treatments, with several firsts including Brooklyn’s first in-​vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure and birth and Brooklyn’s first successful gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) birth

Business Owner

Dr. George D. Kofinas is the founder and medical director of the Kofinas Fertility Institute, and chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

Board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Dr. Kofinas is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In addition, he is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society of Assisted Reproductive Endocrinology (SART), the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI).

Dr. Kofinas has devoted a significant amount of time in the training of specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of infertility, reproductive surgery, endometriosis, leiomyomata (fibroids), in vitro and more.
