Unilocal won’t let me rate Kiku with zero stars. Seamless offered a coupon. The transaction went through with the coupon. When the receipt showed up it was regular price. I called the restaurant because I wasn’t going to sign the slip and the person on the other end insisted they didn’t accept coupons even though the order went through. After arguing with me she told me to send the food back. From the minute I opened the door to accept the food the driver gave me attitude and then got even more annoyed when I told him the price was wrong. He got annoyed when I said I was going to call them. When I told him they said send it back he was rude yet again. I gave him a tip so he wouldn’t key my cars and he wasn’t even grateful that he got a tip anyway. The restaurant isn’t far from my house for him to get annoyed. Extremely poor customer service as a whole. I will never order from them again.

I have been ordering sushi from here for the past few years now. The food is mediocre but the staff is EXTREMELY rude & disrespectful! They have made mistakes with my orders on numerous occasions and I have let it slide countless number of times. However, it is not worth paying extra for something and not getting what you ordered. The past two times that I did call to report issues with my delivery orders(where I was charged for something that I never received), the«so-called» manager had the audacity to disrespect and yell at me over the phone. Even though I had the receipt, in which I was overcharged for my sushi rolls and wasn’t sent the correct order, she had the nerve to argue with me and disconnect the phone on me. Instead of talking to me with some respect and tending to my concerns and sending me the correct order or refunding my money, the manager deemed fit that disconnecting the phone on me was a better option. Hats off to this type of customer service! The staff really needs to learn basic manners and courtesy on how to deal with people. Sorry to say but I will never order from this place again!

Crappy service. Came in on a Tuesday around 9:00pm. They seemed confused if I wanted to dine in or order for take out, not sure why. So, I seated myself. Beef negimaki rolls were good but tuna rolls were too mushy. I ate my dinner while they walked in circles around my table.

I used to frequent Kiku more than I do now, but their mistakes became one too many for me. For one, they seem to have a problem with brown rice. Maybe it’s more difficult to make a roll with brown rice, I don’t know, but they seemed shocked and confused at the concept of brown rice. It’s not a problem at other places, so that always came across as weird to me. Another time, when I was with my dad for lunch, he ordered the lunch order of chicken teriyaki. They misunderstood and gave him a bento box. Not only was that not what he wanted, he’s allergic to shellfish! The bento box comes with shumai and a California roll– shrimp and crab. That would have been a disaster if he was with someone who didn’t know what was in that and he ate it. Nonetheless, I came back recently, again with my dad. It was a more pleasant experience, though our server asked us five times to confirm our order(I guess because they’ve been getting a lot of people’s wrong). One thing that I did not appreciate was that the place smelled like fish, which I immediately picked up on as soon as I walked in. The food? Good, not great. My dad seems to like the place so I’ll keep going with him but on my own, I don’t think so.

Went there couple of times. The place is clean, food is fresh. But service personal is rude and a litle bit slow

The food is always great. Cute little spot offering a nice selection of sushi bar appetizers.

Most disgusting Japanese food I’ve ever had!!! There was a bright green spot on my chicken. Like neon green!!! And the meat in the teriyaki dish was still rare and hardly cooked!!!

A dear friend came to this restaurant with her service dog. After being denied entry, Kiku let her in, but only in exchange for extra charges. Not only is this egregious, it it illegal. Forget about the food. It doesn’t matter if we cannot treat one another like human beings. I’ll stay at home and give the money to a charity that trains service dogs.

Came here at around 9 on a Friday night. The service was terrible — hot soup spilled all over the table and never cleaned up. Waitresses loudly chatting amongst themselves while people are eating. The sushi was average.

Come here very often. Great food, good service, good prices, good location. Only complaint is that they rush you a bit.

I am a fan of this little sushi place. It is located directly next to the Eltingville train tracks and you can easily drive right by it and miss it if you’re not looking for it. The food here is very good and always tastes fresh. There is parking in the rear lot and on the street. The staff is usually attentive and polite. The décor is also pretty nice. They deliver, do take out, and dine in. I recommend trying the rolls here — any of them. They are creative, delicious, and the plate presentation is always well done. One of the better sushi places on the island in my opinion.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. On a rainy day I went in with a party of three. We were seated and there were only two tables with people that were already served. It took the waitress ten minutes before approaching us so she can take our order. The place was fairly empty but there were several telephone orders that were being taken care of. Thirty minutes passed and our food was still not served. I then asked one of the waiter’s if they had started our order yet and she said no and that it would take another ten minutes. Are they serious?! Customers that are in the store should be attended to before any phone orders! I walked out with my party cause the wait was absolutely ridiculous! And the waitresses had an indifferent attitude towards the whole situation. Poor staff, poor attitudes, and poor customer service! Never going back again!

Average sushi, good lunch special, I usually order take out. The menu is very big, almost makes it difficult to make a decision on what you want. The venue itself has terrible parking. I eat here a few times a week bc it’s the closest to my job. Nothing to brag about, but my favorite thing on the menu is the grilled pineapple chicken salad with red wine dressing. Very delicious, wish the portion was bigger.

I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience with Kiku. I even order delivery every time so that’s an accomplishment in my opinion. Their sushi is so fresh, I denied it for a long time. I always thought it would be gross but I was wrong! I usually get the avocado roll, cucumber roll, and veggie tempura roll. So good! It was the first sushi I’ve tried and I fell in love. That’s saying something! Everyone I know likes the sushi from here, especially those who ordered seafood. We all love it and order from their semi-regularly. Try them!

They started out so well. Had great taste fresh sushi at half price. Lately not so good. Few times already had stomach issues. Quality deteriorated from 6 months ago. That’s a shame, I use to really like this place.

I wanted to give this place a second chance, so here is what I ordered: 1 Lunch Special Roll — Any Three Rolls Lunch Special with Soup: Salmon Avocado Roll, Spicy Kani Roll, Eel Avocado Roll 1 Edamame 1 Crispy Spicy Salmon Wonton 1 Special Roll — Dynamite Roll The delivery guy was very nice, joking with me about the front door’s super bright light. When I opened the bag, I immediately realized they forgot the soup. It’s okay though because I rarely drink the miso soup anyway and it was a large order. I tried the Crispy Spicy Salmon Wonton first. The sauce and creamy avocado make the wonton taste very rich, which I enjoy. The wonton by itself takes some getting used to. The salmon in the middle is cooked and I think I like dipping the wonton best into the sauce more than the avocado. I barely taste the cream cheese but I can see it’s there. I am in-between in ordering this again for delivery because the wonton seems dried out and is lukewarm, which is to be expected from some deliveries. It might be better in the restaurant. I tried 3 of the Dynamite Roll. The spicy salmon in the sushi didn’t have the kick I was expecting but the various fish wrapped on top was good. The Spicy Kani roll also didn’t have a kick(maybe my tolerance has risen) so it was pretty average. The Salmon Avocado Roll and Eel Avocado Roll was also fine. The favorite is still the edamame. Overall, I would order the sushi again, but I wouldn’t call it the best I ever had.

I went to this restaurant last Saturday with my cousin, and all I can say is: HORRIBLE. It wasn’t very busy for a Saturday night and yet we were rushed the entire meal. The wait staff was unprofessional and rude. The table was sticky. My waitress rolled her eyes when I asked for a packet of sugar. I haven’t experienced such horrible service in a very long time. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. There are so many other great sushi spots on Staten Island and it’s safe to say that I’ll never be returning to Kiku.

Great sushi spot! Awesome food and awesome service! Their sauces are spot on. We went on a Tuesday when they had a buy 2 get 1 free deal. Will definitely be back.

So I was really craving sushi and I decided to order from this place since it was near my house and got good reviews. Usually I can rely on Unilocal but not this time. This was not good sushi. I got the sushi combo B with spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail and spicy salmon. It also came with miso soup. My miso soup was OK, but it’s pretty hard to mess up miso soup. I did not enjoy my sushi at all. It was so fishy and chewy tasting. I will never order from them again. Thankfully it wasn’t that expensive. The combo came out to less than $ 12. The staff is also really rude and unfriendly. When the lady came out with my food, she handed it to me without even looking at me and said, «here.» That’s it. Didn’t even respond when I said«thank you.»

I am not exactly sure if I went to the same restaurant as the the people reviewing Kiku on Unilocal. The food was far from great and the service was borderline horrendous. It was a Saturday night and when I got to Kiku at 7PM it was almost filled. I stood at the door, waiting for my friend arrive and not a single person greeted me. I was there for 5 minutes, not a word; staff was incredibly preoccupied with their phone orders. My friend walks in, still no greeting… I had to walk up to the counter to ask to be seated. Call me old-fashioned but I find this to be unacceptable. We were seated by a window off the door, it was cold so I requested to move. Granted I’ve never, ever done this… I’m always agitated by people who ask to swap tables, but it was the middle of the winter and it would have been truly uncomfortable to sit by the door. The staff acted pissed we asked, and then didn’t escort us to the new table. We carried our menus across the restaurant and seated ourselves upon the pointing of a waitress at the counter. As for the food, nothing notable. I’ve had fresher fish, I’ve tasted better special rolls. Not even worth going into detail. I’d avoid this place at all costs considering there’s a good amount of sushi restaurants on Staten Island with exponentially better service.
