History

Established in 1977.

We analogize our practice to that of a medical internist — a family doctor. If you have a medical problem, your first call will probably be to your family doctor. If he can take care of your problem, he will. If he is unable to assist you, he will likely refer you to a specialist who can.

We suggest to our clients that The Otterbeck Law Firm should be their first call when encountering any legal problem. If our firm cannot represent you in a specific area of legal practice, we consider it a privilege to be able to recommend our family of clients to other competent attorneys who specialize in such other areas of practice. The difference between a person seeking out an attorney for a particular legal problem on his or her own, and one of our attorneys recommending an attorney with competence in a particular field, is often the difference between an uneducated «guess,» and a recommendation which is based on decades of experience in the legal profession.

Business Owner

Harold J. Otterbeck graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 1974. He received his Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law in 1977.

He has been engaged in the general practice of law since 1974, and has represented countless business entities and individuals over the years.

He was employed on the New York State Assembly staff and the United States Congressional staff of the Honorable Guy V. Molinari, former New York State Assemblyman, United States Congressman, and Borough President of Staten Island. He was the law partner of the Honorable Guy V. Molinari for approximately 12 years from 1980 through 1992.

Harold J. Otterbeck has been a member of the Richmond County, New York State and American Bar Associations from 1977 to date. He has been involved with, and represented, various civic and business organizations through the years. He is presently general counsel to the Building Industry Association of New York City, Inc.
