History

Established in 2001.

Since its inception, Silver Lake Support Services has worked to bring a necessary service to an often underserved and overlooked population. Our primary goal is succesful rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol and community reintegration for every one of our patients. These efforts seek to strengthen the Staten Island Community while promoting awareness and education.

Unknown to most foreigners, and even to New Yorkers, this is one of the gems of Staten Island: meant as the water reservoir (I’m not sure it is actually really used), this is a quiet park around a very large pond. I’ve spent many quiet hours here, making water colours of the sunset or just watching the people enjoying themselves on the greens. From here, you can walk all the way up to Clove Lake Park (OK, there’s a stretch along boring Victory Avenue) and make it a rewarding daytrip.
