We had a lovely meal here. Chef Vittorio cares deeply about your having an excellent experience. And the waitstaff was equally wonderful. We came here early on a Saturday evening with a large group, all vegetarian, and with some additional dietary restrictions to boot. Despite the dietary restrictions, we enjoyed four delicious courses. After each course, I thought I wouldn’t be able to eat much more, but the food was so good, I kept going. And yet, the meal did not feel heavy – it was fresh and healthy. We look forward to returning soon.

I hate to say it but this place is simply mediocre. The service was good, everyone was very friendly and the food came out pretty quickly; however the food was just ok. I had the chicken parm with linguine alfredo and my husband had a pizza, both of which were just ok. I don’t think we’ll ever go back but it wasn’t terrible.

Very very good. Food is fresh and the staff is awesome. I enjoyed my meal here. It can get loud at times but it’s very cozy and a nice date place. Plenty of choices on the menu. The place is super clean and I had a wonderful time there. They do parties and cater to everyone of your needs. I enjoyed it.

I was really looking forward to trying this place after hearing positive feedback from a couple of people! Went this past weekend and was sadly disappointed. Mozzarella in carozza was greasy, and laying on top of sauce. Antipasto for two all tasted the same, bland burnt breadcrumb in the baked clams, mussels, and stuffed mushroom. Entrees arrived, chicken parmiggiano– where’s the parmiggiano?! Two thin slices of square cheese atop a big chicken breast. What’s with the deli sliced cheese? Lamb chops entrée came with potato wedges and greasy fried zucchini sticks? Is that the vegetable? Last entrée was chicken breast valdostana. Salty, and wing bones still attached. Overall, not what I was expecting.

I’ve been going here for years with my family. I’ve never had a bad meal, some better than others but always very good. It’s small, cozy, you could say cramped at times, but the service is always good as is the food. The day before Easter(2016) I had a Branzino over black beans, as a special, I thought it would be weird because black beans are associated with Mexican typically, but it was awesome. The prices can be a little steep considering the décor, but you get what you pay for in terms of knowing you won’t leave here unsatisfied.

When you go out to eat, the food is expected to be very flavorful, seasoned well, etc. Never in my life have I ever added salt to my food… I wouldn’t recommend this place to go. And there’s no bar area, so when you’re waiting for your table, you’re just standing there by the door and getting into everyone’s way. Not fun when it’s freezing outside.

Visited on a Sunday after noon with group of 4(and a 3month baby). we were here from like 6pm — 9:30pm… The restaurant have a homely feeling. Really friends staff. Where it went wrong is with food. Here is what we ordered Calamari — Not bad Linguine Frutti di Mare — BAD! it was so salty. Sea food was overcooked Risotto Frutti di Mare — BAD! Sea food was over cooked, rice was under cooked. Eggplant Parmigiana Trattoria — Not bad Saltimbaca alla Romana — Really good. This is the only meal that was finished. I really wanted to give it a better ratting, as i really liked the restaurant atmosphere and the friendly staff. I will give this spot an other try and hopefully i’ll have a better experience with food.

The wife and I come here twice a month. And the food is always good, just a bit bland. The price is a bit high for basic Italian dishes but the prices are fair when matched to the service provided. The service staff is very good and attentive. Defiantly worth the 20−25% tip. I also love the pre-dinner goodies. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good Italian place, just don’t expect to save money when coming here. Cheap service isn’t good and good service isn’t cheap! If your also looking for a glass of wine with your meal, I recommend the red Sangria.

I’ll keep it short. We went here on Mother’s Day. Food: 3 out of 7 got fish, including me. One word, diarrhea, at least for those of us who ate the fish. The sea bass was literally pudding, a fish pudding! Everything was frozen which is something some restaurants do, but, this food was frozen for way to long. Same goes for the salmon and pasta that had been ordered. Service: Terrible! Saw our waiter 3 times in 2 hours. Yes, we waited a long time for our food. Cost: Overpriced!($ 40-$ 60 per person) Verdict: Never going back. Side Note: The owner, chef, or whatever he was, seemed nice, he came out to greet everyone. This doesn’t get me back my night spent in the bathroom.

Trattoria Roman is amazing!!! Chef Vittorio’s food is always consistently«DELICIOUS» and he always takes the time to greet everyone with a smile. I Also love his cooking classes that combine a learning experience with fun, music and of course each dish you learn about, you get to eat. The staff is also fun and professional and the Pizza is always perfect too! Did I mention the menu selection is never ending? I could go on but I’m getting hungry just writing about this place

This Italian haven has been a family favorite restaurant for decades. Given a picky eating grandfather who really knows Italian food, Trattoria Romana was always his first request for any family birthday or celebratory dinner. The fried polenta cubes and fresh bruschetta await you as you are immediately engulfed in the smells of a brick oven. The head chef always makes his rounds to make sure everyone is happy and enjoying their meal. The pizzas are absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Linguini with clams is always a safe bet, and you can definitely split this among two people since it is a very generous portion. The fried calamari and mozzarella en carroza will never disappoint! The only dish I have ever had here over the span of twenty years which I can say was not up to par was the orichiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, which was vastly underseasoned, which is definitely an oddity! The fact that on any day of the week, during any hour the restaurant is open, it is filled to capacity speaks volumes on how great this place is!

I am new to SI and I must say that this place really does put many others back in line. The service is amazing and very catered. I love the attention that Antonio gives everyone when he steps out from behind the pizza oven. The food is great. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the food(maybe it is oiler than you like or spicier than you are used to… it’s happened.. No biggie) they are so apologetic and willing to bend over backwards to get it just the right way you like it. To top it all of the desserts are always filling and the best way to finish the night. It is always a family friendly atmosphere and the classes were a ton of fun. I highly recommend this place for any night of the week, for any occasion, at any time. Simply the best!

Loved It!!! Old School, O.G., original Italian menu served lovingly by a great waitstaff. We had the fried calamari, grilled vegetables, gnocchi and Linguini with shrimp fra diavolo and it was all fresh and on the mark. The music reminded me of(Sirico’s circa 1970) where I dined with my family almost weekly. It really brought me back. The owner and head chef loves what he does and it shows. A must try in the the New Brooklyn.

THISISONEOFMYFAVORITEPLACES! I come here pretty often and I never get tired of it. I will always love this place, I was so devastated when they closed for renovations. FOOD: They bring out bread and oil when you are seated. The garlic in the oil is so fresh, I absolutely love it. No matter what you get you will love it! I usually do the cheese ravioli or the penne la vodka. ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS. Their desert is really good too. DRINKS: Their white sangria is phenomenal. Great prices, different sizes, perfect combination and the fruit is really good as well. I get a pitcher everytime I go. SERVICE: So Italian! They make you feel right at home. They are so friendly and welcoming. They try and always tend to you. PRICE: They are not that cheap but the money is totally worth it. You definitely will enjoy every penny that you spend. Lastly, because I’m obsessed THEIRCOFFEEISSOGOOD! DEFINITELYGO!

Trattoria Romana is one of those charming places my husband and I keep coming back to. The restaurant has a very comforting, inviting feel to it and every time I’ve walked inside, I’ve been greeted instantly by the memorable smell of their wood-burning brick oven. The menu has a pretty nice selection to choose from. I’ve had the Penne Vodka and Chicken Francese, both very delicious. From their antipasto menu, I tried the Baked Clams and they were a bit too chewy. I was surprised because everything else I’ve ever had was very good. Maybe I’ll try something else next time. Their desserts are great and last time I went, my husband and I shared the Ganache Chocolate Cake with chocolate moose and whipped cream… yum! If you decide to dine here, make sure you arrive with a big appetite because their portions are pretty large, especially the pasta dishes. Although every time I’ve been here the place was packed, they have still provided good service and seated us without much of a wait. Always a great time!

Trattoria Romana is a big name Italian restaurant on Staten Island serving up Italian-American classics as well as some truly authentic dishes that you’d find in Nona’s kitchen. I hadn’t been to Romana in years since last month when I stopped in with old friends, some of which consider this place to be the best on the island(which is a bold statement considering the fantastic options on New Dorp Lane alone; Brioso, LaStrada, Giove). They start your meal off right with a serving of fried polenta, and bruschetta; the former was so addictive that we blew through our plate in under 5 minutes. Our appetizers were great – a brick oven margarita pizza with crispy thin crust, and fried zucchini flowers stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella. The pasta entrées left a lot to be desired… undercooked, overly sauced, etc. Yet, my neighbor raved about his perch francese which looked perfectly cooked and dressed. All-in-all, the meal was an enjoyable one. The service is attentive for a restaurant serving a high volume of customers and although they don’t take reservations the wait for 5 people wasn’t outrageous. While I give Trattoria Romana my stamp of approval, it’s up to you to decide if it’s the island’s best…

Great food just as everyone else has written on here, especially the pizza. It’s a very nice neopolitan style pizza, and reminds me if the same pizza I tried at Otto Enoteca in Ny(Mario Batalli’s restaurant). The free polenta appetizers were very nice, and the chef/owner came out to meet and greet the customers. Very nice
