Specialties
Stephentown Trading Post is a café, market and resale/consignment shop all in one. We have breakfast sandwiches, baked goods and quiche for breakfast. The lunch menu consists of soups, sandwiches, specialty salads like crispy chicken salad or spinach and goat cheese salad, and a changing daily special featuring angus burgers, meatloaf with homemade mac n cheese and chicken pot pie.
The atmosphere is cozy with seating at tables in front of two stoves and at the counter. While you are waiting for your food, you can browse our resale/consignment section which features books, antiques, furniture, local handmade products and other odds and ends.
There is also a market section with fresh produce, pantry staples, dairy items, local products like Liquid Assets coffee and some of our own baked goods like our popular chocolate chip cookies or cheese bread.
History
Established in 2013.
We are in the old Stephentown Hotel which has over 200 years of history. Many of the original features remain.
The interior has been a popular site for the filming of movies, including Taking Woodstock.
Meet the Business Owner
Jennifer A.
Business Owner
Jennifer and her family have been residents of Stephentown for about 11 years now. She and her three children have been cooking for years, trying to come up with creative recipes to use their free range eggs (they’ve raised chickens for many years, and at one point had up to 100 laying hens!) Their homegrown organic produce has also made its way into many of the recipes.
Her husband, Tim has been running a hardware store for about 15 years and is a do-it yourselfer and collector. Tim’s knack for finding all sorts of practical and interesting items is evident in the resale/consignment section of the store.
I think the family’s love of history and the outdoors is evident in their establishment.
