The restaurant caught on fire, total loss, no business after new ownership, probably an insurance scam

I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in our area for a while. Food wise I got the almond chicken meal and my wife got the Hunan chicken. Since it was our first time there we dined at the restaurant. We ordered combinations with wonton soup and an egg roll. The soup was a little different as they put bean sprouts in, so it had a different flavor. Egg roll was delicious warm, nice and crispy; served with plum sauce that was just sweet enough. Both meals were the perfect size. We both ordered the fried rice, it was blend and dry. Almond chicken was perfect, crispy breading, and light sauce. The Hunan chicken was good but it had an after taste to it that my wife didn’t like. Service was incredibly fast or maybe we were the only ones in the restaurant. Each part of the meal came out right as you finished the last part of the meal. When we got the bill my wife and I were surprised the meal for two was under twenty dollars. The décor inside the restaurant was little out dated. And the carry out menu is different from restaurant menu.

Good Chinese food. Glad I found a decent place close to my house. Good quality chicken! Ordered 3 different dishes, soup and appetizers. All were delicious. Sesame chicken: excellent, general tao chicken: excellent, sweet and sour chicken: eh I’ve had better sauce. Good portion size. No real complaints whatsoever. Very friendly service too. Busy place and it took a while for my order but at least I know it was fresh.

A few years ago my wife and I FINALLY found good Chinese food when we discovered this place. However not long ago the ownership changed and the food changed slightly too. We still go here and enjoy the food very much, but it’s not the same.

Chicken is dry. Ordered three almond chicken dinners and all were horribly dry. This never ever in a million years would have happened with the old owners. I will never be back!

I agree with Andrew Z… Things have changed some since the owner died, and the place was sold. I have strayed a few times to other carry outs. The new owner skimps on the stuff. I use to be able to get 2 meals out of my QUART of Shrimp fried rice… not anymore. How do they call that small container a QUART? I have heard from friends that there egg drop soup is not what it use to be. I continue to order from them because the original owner’s wife works there now… Yes. she is back from Hong Kong, and her 91 yo father is still sick and in the hospital.

5 stars for the food. 3 stars for maybe staying open until 7, 8, or 9 pm. It is like going to the casino seeing if they are open, or not. Otherwise the food is great and cheap. The people are always friendly. large portions also. If anyone knows of other good Chinese carry outs semi near here please shout out!

Good portions, fresh flavors and ingredients. Prices are reasonable. The owner is friendly, always has a smile.

This place may not look fancy, but don’t let looks deceive you! I usually get the sesame chicken(extra spicy). Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. The chicken tastes super fresh and the fried rice is addictive. A wife and husband duo run the place, and they’re just too cute! My family, friends, and I have been coming here for about 7 years, and I’m going to be heart broken when I move away this winter!

Ok I saw this place on and figured I would give it a shot. I walked in and ordered, and my fist impression was a worried one. The inside looked like the basement of my grandfathers house. Outdated and not changed in years. Then I talked to the wonderful woman at the counter ordered my food and waited for about 30 mins. And it was well worth the wait! Great food all around I’ve been going back now for about a year. Every time I go I end up talking the the many other customers waiting for there food. Every one says the same thing… How good is this food?! It is very good try it now!

When I want Chinese food, this is where I go. You will always have a 15 – 20 minute wait and probably a few minutes more but the food is consistently good. I am actually comfortable trying other items with my favorites. The egg rolls and sweet and sour items are some times a little over cooked but I usually order non-fried foods anyway. This is basically a carry out and yes, the three or so tables are still there. Last meal… Aug 21, 2012

This is a truly unique gem of Chinese food, and although I no longer live in the state, this is one of the select few places I absolutely HAVE to visit when I’m in town. Their food is not the generic Chinese carryout. You have to establish that mindset going in, because if you want to taste the same generic stuff that everywhere else puts out, you’re just not going to get it. The Mongolian Beef is a particularly good treat, and the Emperor Chicken incredible. While Almond Boneless Chicken is the stereotypical«Michiganian Chinese Food» that I try to avoid, it is a good ABC, with an excellent gravy. There are all of about three tables inside — this is more or less a carryout hut, and as the last review said, it sometimes takes some time. I guarantee you it is worth the wait. Call ahead, add about 5 minutes to the high end of the time she tells you, and get ready to have the best Chinese food in town, at INCREDIBLY reasonable prices.

By far the best chinese food in the area. Yes, you will have to wait, but it is worth it.

it’s been a while since i’ve been here. i am not in this area too much. i tried this place the first time back in march 2008 after a friend had suggested this place as being one of the best. boy, was he right! the owners are a nice chinese couple. the lady, mrs. pong, takes everyone’s orders down and brings them off to the kitchen to have her husband cook them. of course, i order the almond boneless chicken combo with fried rice egg roll and egg drop soup. all i had was a debit card, so i saw a sign for crab rangoons. i ordered some to make it an over $ 10 purchase. she told me that there would be some wait time but i told her don’t worry, i can wait. be prepared to wait at least 15 – 20 minutes, not your usual 10. but the wait is definitely well worth it. while i was waiting, people who had called in and ordered and came to pick up their orders still had to wait another 5 – 10 minutes but they didn’t seem to mind– looks like they knew this was a common occurance. so. my entire order came out and i was impressed. the crab rangoons were so hot and fresh, i could only enjoy 1 since they were so hot. the egg drop soup was so good! you could definitely tell it had a certain home cooking taste and look to it. not a whole bunch of yellow number 5 dumped in there, but more of a translucent color with silken threads of egg. the almond boneless chicken itself was delicious and very hot and fresh. i could tell that it was prepared the same day and cooked, too. and certainly not overbreaded like other’s. the sauce wasn’t too thick either– just a good consistancy overall. the rice wasn’t salty, either and the same with the egg roll. the general tso’s chicken is just as delicious! it’s actually one of the most popular dishes that’s frequently ordered. mrs. pong is a very nice lady. we chatted a bit about school and her children and my friend who told me about her restaurant. she talked about how they pride themselves in cooking the best by using the freshest ingredients and only cooking to order. they are closed every monday since they use that time to go out into the markets to stock up. definitely a good place to go. be prepared to wait a bit– call ahead if you need to. i’ll definitely be visiting this week as this review has made me hungry!
