Wait staff sucks. Food is not nearly fresh at all. Eat at Mc Donalds across the street it’s much better and cheaper too.

Went there for lunch for the first time. The service was slow considering the restaurant was not at all full, but when our food came out, it was delicious! I got the chicken portabella sandwich and it was so good. It was better than I expected. My partner got a chicken pita, which was also very good. Their fries were awesome. We will definitely go there again.

I give this 3 stars because it’s nothing special. I usually get carry out from there and have dined in once. The food is always fine nothing to rave about though. When I dined in the service was eh. Again nothing spectacular. One thing though, sometimes when I call I get a real grumpy waitress. And I always know by her voice when she answers that it’s her. She sounds like you’re annoying her and she hates her life. All in all it’s just«eh». Not fantastic not horrible. But idk what people expect from a coney. Most are just a quick place to eat and not anything fancy.

Not really sure what to say. I have eaten breakfast here a few times, usually during the week when meeting an associate who likes the place. The food is actually good and the service is fine. Portions are large, prices are fine and it’s consistent each time. What is odd is this large counter section in the middle, which each time is full of old timers who are all loud talking. The set up is odd and so is that group who sometimes even yell –talk to other old timers sitting elsewhere. They have no clue that they are obnoxious which makes it a little funny. Aside from the crowd is the fact that the place is trapped in the 1980s, literally. The décor, booths, everything is like from Miami in the 80s, but not some much vintage as just strange.

We’ve had breakfast & lunch @ Phoenix a few times. First visit — great food & service. Last 3 visits– mediocre food & poor service. Sausage gravy omelet was so dry that we asked for extra gravy — which we were CHARGED for! Pancakes were so thick & dry we could barely cut them with a knife. Soup was watery & fries were salty. The server we had each time(tall, 50ish woman) showed no interest in our complaints & offered no apologies. We will never go back…

This place is insane! They make you pay $ 2 for a drink in order to get a $ 0.99 Coney and they refuse to let you take them home! They let you take the fries but not the Coney! It is not posted anywhere. All it says is dine in special. It does not say anywhere that you cannot take a coney dog home! If anyone knows who I need to call for this complaint please leave a comment. I’m about to call the news!

Have been coming here for many many years, always get great service. Pretty much your typical Coney place. The strip it’s in is finally getting the much needed makeover. Parking lot a little to dark for me hopefully fixed in the makeover. Reasonable prices… Will have to bring bf here for breakfast!

I’m actually surprised by how bad many of the reviews are for this place. I was seated promptly at a nice clean table, and immediately asked for my drink order. Food came out shortly after as well. My BLT was pretty stellar, actually. It was almost double decker, didn’t skimp on the tomatoes, lettuce, or most importantly, bacon. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the rye toast it was served on was good. My table also ordered fried mushrooms to share, and they were only ok. They lacked in a bit of flavor, and the ranch that was served with them was a bit runny. My two friends got chicken parmesan and French toast with corn beef hash. They both seemed pleased with their meal. Based on the reviews I’m guessing we got lucky, but I don’t have anything major to complain about.

Great place for breakfast and saganaki. Décor is ok. Food comes in good time. Prices can’t be beat. Not bad for a family diner

I hate this place so much. Dirty. The food is all garbage. The wait staff is weird. You have a couple friendly waitresses and people you don’t want to deal with. My brother and I wanted to go out somewhere else after receiving our food just to damper the existence of the experience a bit. We didn’t, but of course it was regrettable. Ugh. Just don’t.

Not being waited on for 10 minutes after being seated, when it’s not even busy, tends to piss me off…

This is by far the WORST Coney Island you’ll ever visit! No matter when you go there to eat it always appears it’s everyone’s first day working there. First you have to find a table that is clean, then you’ll wait forever to be waited on, an even longer wait for your food. I’ve tried to order carry-out on my lunch and have waited 40 minutes to get my order, only to get back to work to discover it’s wrong. The food itself is ok — quite greasy, but it is reasonably priced. In this case — you get what you pay for. I’d avoid this place at all costs! Points to remember if you do decide to eat here: * It’s filthy. They have recently redecorated, but they don’t maintain it & do simple things like wipe down tables. If you do see them cleaning a table… look at the rag they are using — It’s filthy. * Service is extremely slow. Expect to kill some major time there. * Expect your order to be wrong, or missing items. * Expect your food to be cold, swimming in butter and/or grease. * Be prepared to make futile attempts to grab your servers attention, as she will most likely be chatting with other staff members, or conversing with friends who are dining there.

I should have read the reviews before going inside. Once was to many times.

Yuck! I stopped in for a quick carry out before class… what a waste… wish I would’ve just had nothing at all! Ordered the chicken pita, that I thought said grilled chicken strips… what I got was a nasty, breaded, fried chicken stripped… Totally gross. I always do this… I didn’t look at it before I paid, and took off… then at the 11th hour when I’m going to eat it I’m screwed! This place is just garbage…

Not really remarkable as diners go. I’ve had a pretty mediocre Sunday breakfast here a few times. Wait staff is nice and food is okay, so you’ll be okay going here.

Food is absolutely AMAZING! It’s not a perfect place on the inside, definitely a casual«hole in the wall» but get over it because the food and the price is to die for. Love it. love it. LOVEIT!

Food was good, and I got a full breakfast(2eggs, 4bacon, hash browns and toast) for 3 bucks. Only negative was that I had to wait a couple of minutes to cash out because the waitress was saying bye to her friends, which was annoying because I was there 1st, but the service was good when we were dining.

Disclaimer: I only get here about once a year because I no longer live in the area and this review may be somewhat tainted by reminiscence. I love this place. It’s cheap, quick, the wait staff are always friendly(and have been there FOREVER), and they serve the best Hani on Earth — aka, the Geno’s Special. There are no Coney Island’s of any kind where I have lived for the past ten years, so I *dream* of finding a good grilled pita anywhere and never can. If you want a standard Greek salad with pita, this joint has it. They also have rice pudding, cheap breakfasts, like 20 different types of Coney dogs, plus all the regular diner food you’d expect to find at a Coney Island. Enormous sodas with free refills, crispy, just-greasy-enough-without-being-too-greasy fries. We get two giant root beers, two Geno’s Specials, and an order of fries to split, and the bill is never more than like $ 15 including tip. The only thing I don’t like about the place is that they have an unseparated smoking section. I’m a California girl these days, so I’m not used to being anywhere with smokers seated right next to me and it’s tough to enjoy the meal with nothing keeping it from wafting to my table. I’m not deducting stars for it though, since that’s more of a Michigan policy issue than a Phoenix one.

Just a warning: I always ordered to go here. The interior is a bit crammed so I never want to eat in. It also needs some care. The breakfast stuff is good and the variety of coneys are good. To be plain, this location is better than the one on Van Dyke but I have no issues with this one other than the interior.

I’m an irregular regular. Great prices! Especially on the Deuces Wild(now called the Double Play) breakfast. Price went up but it’s still a good deal. Also they’re onion rings are pretty good with their homemade ranch. When the owner, Bob(look for the guy wearing the red chile pepper MC Hammer pants) is there the service is pretty good. He runs a tight ship. When he’s not, it all depends on who’s in charge. The best waitresses are Cindy, Dawn, Lisa and Violet(not in any particular order). Definitely let Bob know if there’s a problem with anything and he will do whatever it takes to fix it. I also like that they take all 4 major credit cards as some of these indies don’t. Negatives that keep it from getting more stars from me: They’ve updated some of the décor(good start) but the tables/booths are a bit dated and in need of some TLC. There’s a booth in particular that I think a very large person must have sat there and blew out the springs. They ration the Splenda(have to ask for it) and those little tubs of jam and jelly. Seems to be an east-side thing unfortunately. They also need to replace some of the hot sauce bottles as the flip tops are broken. Could use WiFi but I can understand they don’t want ppl hanging out there all day. Be nice if they opened an hour or two earlier in the morning. They’re not open 24hrs like the other location(different owner) on Van Dyke.
