I had 2 service calls for my my 2 toilets and sink and each tech was very nice and professional. Got the job done quickly. I also liked that they updated me when the tech was on their way. I def recommend them!

Very bad service. The the technician we had «Chritian» had no integrity and poor work ethics. He didn’t even say his name when I opened the door for him or removed his shoes. On top of it he overstated the plumming issue we have so he can claim more money from the warranty company. And we risk being denied service by the warranty company due his false diagnosis. His supervisor came in and ended up agreeing with plumber although I am sure he knows the plummer made up the story. A total waste for our time and energy.
We requested a second opinion and we have another coming company to check on our plumming issue.

We had an issue and HSA sent JED to do our repair. The technician, Westley, was amazing and had us fixed in no time. He was professional and courteous, plus he knew what he was doing. I would recommend him again to anyone!

A mechanic named Brian came to my condo to look at my hot water heater. He barely spoke to me unless I asked him a direct question. He proceeded to clean the element of the hot water heater. Then left without checking the water or giving me any instruction about what to expect. The hot water gradually started working. That’s not the worst part. Wait for it… so the next morning, I go to wash clothes and there’s water pouring down from my upstairs down into my kitchen & living room. There’s damage to my ceiling & carpet. And when I called, the receptionist, Katie acted like it wasn’t their fault. I am dealing with their «sales supervisor» now.
Later today– They have now called their insurance company to come & assess the damages. Will update once repairs to my property have been made. I had to take a day off work though & wish I hadn’t been given the runaround before being given a solution.

i have used Jed mechanical for several years and have always found them to be really good. on their latest visit I was impressed with appointment text confirmation and tracking of the truck en route to our house. The tech that was sent did an excellent job at a good price. I am very satisfied with Jed.

Replacement of hot water heater by JED Mechanical. Technician, Westley, was professional, friendly, and efficient. Our hot water heater broke Saturday night Jan. 2^nd. Called AHS (home warranty co.) Sunday morning. Got return call from JED Monday morning. Next day, Westley, JED Mech, came and diagnosed problem. We had to wait until the following Mon., Jan. 11^th, to get new hot water heater installed. (Seemed like a long time when you can’t take a hot shower!) Westley was a pleasure to deal with. I’m glad to post a positive outcome in view of some of the negative comments on Unilocal. As it turned out, we can recommend JED Mechanical and American Home Shield.

Be aware this company they are rip offs if you hear the name JED mechanical make sure say no and they are not professional at all, had problem with my water heater and got them through ORH Warrenty and the technician went to the property and diagnosed the unit in 15 minutes came with the quote $ 2600.00 and said that everything has to modify to be the county code, I just bought this property and did the inspection and everything was passed and instead of changing the electric pilot
He didn’t do anything and when I talk to technician he said that the water heater is not letting the pilot to stay led, what a bunch of BS

Once again I received excellent service from JED. This time I had a problem winterizing one of my hose bibs. I used my home warranty company and made sure that they used JED since they were great with a different issue I had. Eddie was not available but I has Wesley that was just like Eddie. Wesley is also very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He also explained to me what the problem was and how he was going to fix it. That is what I like about JED. Their employees know what they are doing and will also educate their customers. Best part was that this was covered by the home warranty and all I have to pay was the service co-​pay. Once again, I highly recommended using JED, definitely ask for Wesley or Eddie.

Went through AHS… Quick easy and painless. Did not try and upsell and tell me stuff was not covered under warranty. Thanks again

I felt compelled to write this review since this company seems to be getting a very bad rap. The unfortunate reality with review sites is that more often than not, mostly unhappy customers take the time to be heard (if they are even legitimate reviews — and not competitors bashing them). A JED contractor came out to my home through HSA last month to repair my garbage disposal and kitchen faucet. He replaced both items, but had to order the parts and return a few days later once they arrived. The replacement faucet was better quality than the original, and the disposal works great. The installer was friendly and professional. I personally have no reason not to recommend them highly.

We too use HSA, and I had a problem with our toilet. I was a bit apprehensive about using this company given the reviews here.
I called HSA and see if I can switch, and they said that I couldn’t, unless there was a problem this company personally the first time around.
I ended up using them, and I’m glad I did. Wesley came over to our place. They were able to come the following day, and exactly on time. Fixed my toilet quickly, and even gave great free advice regarding our leaking Faucet. He went out of his way, and tell us about the lifetime warranty on our faucet, and even spoke to the representative over the phone so we can get a replacement faucet.
He was extremely nice, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond what you needed to do.

Had them come out for an a pin hole leek. Not only did they want to charge twice as much as the other company who fixed it charged but they told me they did not know how to fix it. Referred through AHS if they refer these guys ask for another company.

I am an HSA warranty member and saw some reviews and was worried. But JED arrived early today fixed the problem with courtesy and professionalism and went on their way. I would recommend.

Terrible company to use. they went out to assess a claim under the warranty, told the client (I’m the manager of the property) the cost is not covered and their recommendations would be about $ 600 to repair. I have never received the invoice or statement of work recommended. I have called several times always being promised to have the invoice with recommendations in writing with cost and two weeks later still nothing. I called again today and promised to have this in 30 minutes, then two hours later nothing. Called again and now they won’t answer during office hours. Terrible company and I’ll be sure not to use them. I guess they don’t care about business. No wonder they have terrible reviews and ratings. BTW they don’t even call back on voice mails so pointless to even leave them. DON’T USE THIS COMPANY

This company is AWFUL. Hot water in our master shower stopped working and we called our insurance AHS. Bill from JED showed up and spent less than 5 minutes looking at the shower, then went out to his van. When he reappeared, he said a plastic part was missing and he was going to charge us another $ 175 + parts to fix the shower and that he already called AHS to void our coverage for this service as AHS does not cover work on missing parts. This was after Bill spent less than 5 minutes looking at the shower and he was too lazy or incompetent to fix it.
A few days later, we got a second opinion and there were NO parts missing and the hot water was fixed by replacing a part within the shower. Not only did Bill misdiagnose the problem, he refused to fix it claiming a part was missing and he submitted a misdiagnosis to our insurance which voided our coverage.
I had also asked Bill to remove his shoes when coming into the house. He pulled out blue shoe covers from his pocket to wear over his shoes. Ok fine. However, when he went out to his van, he kept the blue booties on and racked wet salt, dirt, snow, and sand throughout our house when he came back in. He made a complete mess of our house and did not even attempt to fix the shower and I got a $ 75 bill from my insurance for the 5 minutes he spent looking at the shower.
For other AHS customers, you can call AHS and have another company come if you get JED. That’s what I will do in the future. Highly dissatisfied with this experience. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB.

WORST COMPANY EVER. ****TWO**** USELESS TECHS WHO WOULDN’T DO ANY PROPER REPAIR.
1) After having no dishwasher for a week, they come to our house. (Assigned by AHSWarranty.)
The guy informs us that he can’t work on the repair, because he’s deathly allergic to cats.
Hey Jed — maybe you should CALL your customers and ASK if they have cats, before making them continue to not have a dishwasher! I guess it will be even longer that we have no dishwasher, thanks to your callous disregard for the fact that 30% of American households have cats.
So that means — this guy is blowing off 30% of his service calls???
2) They finally send a 2^nd guy over. He looks under or sink for 10 minutes. He then says, «I need to go to my truck for a minute». Sits in his truck for 25 minutes. Drives away without saying anything. [Update, forgot to mention: He actually changed the sink drain from «no longer leaking even though we thought it had, and able to use sink» to «huge leak, not able to use sink».]
It turns out that he reported back to AHSWarranty that our house has a pest infection, and that he was unwilling to work in those conditions.
THERE IS NOT A SINGLE BUG IN OUR KITCHEN.
SO WE HAVE A COMPANY THAT HATES ANIMAL OWNERS *AND* LIES!
3) Eight months later, on 20 151 105, a user named «Robert D.» with a profile at
, contacted me, yelling «slander» and that I must remove my review immediately. This man has one review, which is a 5-​star review for Jed Contractors.

The technician came out to take a look at my gas heater for the Stafford VA area. He took one look and said it had to be replaced. He didn’t try to start the unit. He was unprofessional and borderline rude. I complain to AHS but they told me I had to stick with JED. These people are going to be the reason I drop AHS as soon as I get this resolved!

Supply line to toilet broke Saturday morning. JDS sent a technician in two hours. He was friendly, fixed the line, and explained the reason. I recommend as a service provider.

I had a leaking water heater after I returned from vacation. Through my home warranty company, Jed Mechanical Contractors was assigned to my service request. A rep called me the next day, a Wednesday, to schedule a service appointment. I was told «Thursday» between 12 and 5 and someone would call about 30 minutes before they arrive. I presumed this would be the following day as it was not yet Thursday that week and a leaking water heater in my mind warrants a certain urgency.
Well, five hour later the following day, no one arrived, no one called… nothing. I called and left a voicemail, because of course they’re now closed and to boot it’s a holiday weekend so I knew I wouldn’t hear anything until at least Monday. Then I contacted the warranty company to complain… they submitted a request for an update on the status.
The following Thursday, thinking maybe the woman who called to schedule had meant Thursday the following week. I waited again for five hours, with no call and no one came to service the water heater that now has had a problem for about a week and a half! I promptly called the home warranty company again. They put out a request for expedited service and somehow I get stuck with this incompetent company again…
The next day, Friday, I wait, again for five hours with no contact whatsoever from the contractors…
Causing me to lose 15 hours of my time away from what I need to be doing and lost money at work shows horrible professionalism, and courtesy! I would give them zero stars if possible.
