I come to Joey’s often for lunch. Great place to stop by before/after errands or a shopping trip at Dulles Town Center. My go-to is a half-sandwich with soup on the side. My favorite sandwich is their turkey bacon avocado. Very delicious and good choice of bread. My pick of soups are the Mediterranean, veggie soups. I would definitely recommend Joey’s to anyone who is looking for a great lunch or breakfast spot!

This place is really close to my apartment so it would be really nice if this were a decent place to eat, but it’s not. I’ve tried 2 different salads one the avocado wasn’t ripe and the other was ok because it was a Caesar, good work you didn’t mess that up! That truly was the highlight of my experience. I’ve tried 4 different soups and I wouldn’t get any of them again. I haven’t tried any of their pastries but they have a good spread and they do look yummy, but who knows if I’ll be back. If I do return it’s because I live across the street.

Décor is fine but food was lacking. Ordered the Cuban panini which was very disappointing. The bread was undercooked and doughy. Manager tried to fix it but still didn’t taste right.

Got the blueberry and cherry danish and they were okay. Tasted very much like a store bought danish from a grocery store. It was very disappointing. I also ordered a breakfast sandwhich. Bacon, egg, cheese on a crossiant. The crossiant was fluffy and light. The cheese to sandwhich ratio was way off… seeing that there was almost ad much cheese ad there was egg. Has a very strong panera bread vibe with soups and sandwiches.

Rarely is a place so horribly bad that I can’t wait until I get home to review it. So please excuse any typos. The old Atlanta Bread here was already bad, but Joey’s Café is even worse. The menu, arrangement, lackluster service and all that don’t seem to have changed at all. But prices have gone up and food quality is done. It’s an absolute disgusting mess. The food isn’t just low-quality, it tastes BAD. Well, except for the parts that are straight up flavorless. Two«pick 2» meals(half sandwich and half soup) came to $ 30. Ouch. I would say not even $ 10 quality of food. Really unacceptable. The chicken is just like frozen Costco breasts and strips, some of it was so gristly it was inedible. To make matters worse, one order came out wrong(was supposed to have no tomato). Then ONE of the bowls of chili was COLD. Why not the other? That’s a telling sign that the soups are just microwaved. The chili is watery and bland. Blech. Never go here. Hopefully it’ll close soon and become something worthwhile.

Great food and service. I love the fresh breads and the tasty salads. The owner is the same guy when it used to be Atlanta Bread. Same passion and care.

What a sad let down. The staff seems lost and the food isn’t even worth it. I got the«gooey» grilled cheese. If you can handle a grilled cheese you shouldn’t have a sandwich shop.

Staff told me that everything was basically the same that management just broke away from the Atlanta Bread Co. franchise. Well = I’m not so sure. I really enjoyed ABC! Although the appearance was the same — same menu was still up, samples salads were still on the counter, pictures of sandwiches at the register were still there… my sandwich was NOTHING like it was before. My «go to» sandwich WAS the Chicken Waldorf sandwich. Loved the bread and loved the chicken salad. Bread is now completely different and so was the chicken salad. Foccacia bread is now flat and tasteless. Chicken salad is not creamy and flavorful with the chunks of goodness in it that it used to have. The amount of chicken salad in the sandwich was lacking as well. I am disappointed to say the least. Sad too. Not really looking forward to going back. Hope to see or hear about improvements but will look for a replacement elsewhere in the meantime!

I’ve been a daily happy coffee customer over 8 yrs. until changed to Joey’s. Cheap coffee cups contain cheap coffee, and foods & pastry likewise. I am so sad & disappointed.

This used to be Atlanta Bread but recently changed. Many menu items have stayed mostly the same but they now have their own identity when it comes to food. Prices are slightly higher but you get what you pay for. I get a salad with double chicken and a bottled water. 13.47 is the total. Now the chicken is the freshest ever, so good. No fast food salad for $ 5 is as healthy or as good. No salad at a sit down place is better for the price. Love this place. The head guy, Joey I assume is very very friendly. His staff is the best. They remember my order, my name, and never allow 5 min to go by without picking up my trash. I can only say«thank you so much» every time. It’s like these people work here just to serve their customers. Oh wait that’s what the world of business should be. Kudos to this place. I come every day!!!

Not as good as Atlanta Bread Company(ownership changed). I don’t plan on returning. I can get better sandwiches at many other places that still have decent atmosphere. Turkey on nine-grain used to be my go to sandwich. Now the bread is too thick and chewy and it seems like it’s just white bread with some oatmeal on the crust. The rest of the sandwich was so-so(amount of turkey, etc.) Though it’s minor, they no longer carry the packets of horseradish sauce. I used to hold the mayo and add a little horseradish for some kick. With the thick bread and the sparse mustard on only one half of the other side of the sandwich, it was too dry for all that bread.

Dude, what did I just eat? I got a $ 5 salad that turned into a $ 9 salad once I added ‘chicken’. Why the quotations? I don’t think what they put on the salad was actually chicken. Well, maybe it once was, many, many years ago. The substance I got was more akin to styrofoam. It was mushy, flavorless and oddly had the texture of foam — it in no way shape or form looked or tasted like chicken. I would’ve sent it back had I not ordered to go. To boot, the mushrooms on the salad looked like they should’ve been tossed a week ago and the red onion was in giant whole slices(who eats a whole cross section of onion at a time?! same for the tomatoes — come on people this is ridic). I realize the cut on the veggies is a personal pet peeve but I dunno, I don’t like having to cut up my salad before it is edible. Overall the meal was unappetizing and just plain gross — I threw it away after 3 bites. I can’t believe Joey’s can justify the price point on meat that is clearly overly processed, previously frozen and then thawed a few weeks before. Just. abysmal. Do yourself a favor — skip this place and head to somewhere that serves somewhat more decent quality food like Corner Bakery. Better yet, hit up the Wegman’s salad bar. Hell, I’m pretty sure McDonald’s chicken has more meat in it than whatever the mystery protein was I just got served at Joey’s.

Joey’s has a lot of catching up to do to reach that status of quick, consistent, and tasty that seemed to be some of the hallmarks of this location when it was branded as Atlanta Bread Company. Some folks have said that Joey’s is still owned by the same ABCo franchisee, but my visit there was reflective of a poorly-run operation. Staffing and general operations were very much in disarray — orders were not being completed in a timely fashion, you could sense the chaos and disorder, and it made for a sub-par experience. Fellow patrons and I were standing around, not sure where to pick up our drinks and food, while other peoples’ food and drinks were being brought to them. Staff seemed to be confused that I wanted my latte«to go» in a standard paper cup, but that I was eating my oatmeal onsite, so that caused a hiccup in the prep/delivery of my order. I ordered a latte, oatmeal, and a side of bacon. Simple enough, right? Well, latte came out cold, and oatmeal took longer than one would deem acceptable for oatmeal, especially since these oats resembled watery instant Quaker packet oats more than the promise of «steel-cut oats.» Nope. Watery, insta-cook oats, served with a hodgepodge of toppings: strawberries, walnuts, and cranberries. Cinnamon was available near the coffee display, but they don’t offer brown sugar, which is for many people an oatmeal staple. Bacon… three strips of wet cardboard sadness. I LOVE bacon, and couldn’t even get past one bite of that mess. Sadly the most tasteless, bland, and sad meal I’ve ever had at a price of over $ 10. Obviously this place has potential — they have appealing-sounding items on their menu, they seem to want to offer a quick and quality breakfast/lunch experience, they have nice outdoor seating and ample parking in the convenient shopping megaplex that is Sterling, VA. It just seemed to me like maybe they weren’t ready yet for weekend breakfast crowds or that they had their food-prep and ingredient selection down to a well-oiled machine yet. I wish Joey’s the best; as it’s nice to have a quick café to stop in for a pick-me-up while on a shopping spree.

Former Atlanta Bread franchise; owner decided to convert to his own place. Good looking menu, lots of similar items. Corner Cobb salad is good, lots of avocado. Turkey sandwich 9 grain bread is pretty yummy but kind of too thick. Tomato soup not as good as Atlanta’s, which I loved. Place has lots of potential, will definitely return. Looking forward to seeing how Joey’s fares and I wish them luck in this new endeavor!
