Mini Of Sterling

Update: I just had my car evaluated by a very highly rated and trusted local car shop, and I was told that the repairs that Mini of Sterling told me were needed, to the tune of about $ 5000, we’re not needed. One issue, for example, was a Service engine light that came on. The code for that light had to do with the O2 sensors in the car, but it is a known problem for that year of Mini. I had had several other mechanics look at it previously, and none found anything wrong with the sensors. The dealership, however, told me that I need to replace both of them at a cost of about $ 2000+. The local car shop tested the output on both sensors yesterday and found nothing to be wrong with them. Likewise, this dealership told me I need new front lower control arm bushings for $ 1350. The local car shop looked at them and, again, said absolutely not so. Same pattern for several other repairs the dealership told me we needed. I left the repair shop for only $ 230 for a separate repair (brakes) that I already knew was needed. Couple that with what I said in the prior review about the suppose it need for an alignment, and I will never trust this dealership again.

Horrible typical stealership. I brought my less than one year old mini in for a falling apart exhaust on a brand new car for some reason. And the dash no longer worked as it did originally in the sense that it would actually open. Being almost nearly a year old these guys slapped a rejection sticker on the car saying the tire is failing due to it «leaking» when I told them to just patch it over the plug currently in place which was holding air. So after going back and forth with the «service» people who obviously have no real experience with cars or racing (I didn’t inform them I TRACKED the car on the plug they wouldn’t patch over even though it was one inch away from the sidewall) I drove it a few blocks down the street and had it passed like I told the non experienced young idiot behind the phones.
If you’re expecting car enthusiast service pony up for a Porsche these guys still act like amateurs.

Giving this dealership one star because of the lack of customer service. I’ve always wanted a MINI growing up and decided it was time to get a new car. Chose Mini of Sterling only because they were close to my house. I first dealt with Tatiana over the phone then Abe when I came in to visit. Once I was there Abe was knowledgeable and provided good info however, I didn’t see anything I liked on the lot so decided to customize one instead. I worked with both Tatiana and Abe on May 18^th at around 5-​ish and finally decided on something I wanted by 9 pm. They told me to put down a deposit so the car would be placed in production but since finance and every other staff was gone already they said I could place a $ 500 deposit the following day. Abe called the next morning to get my card info and I then proceeded to work with his finance team but they were not willing to work out the terms with me. I then called Abe back about an hour later to cancel the transaction since Lexus of Chantilly had a BETTER deal with BETTER cars. He gave me a bit of an attitude almost hinting like I wasted his time just because Finance wasn’t willing to work with me. I thought it was rude — you’re in sales, it happens. Customers change their minds, should know this before getting into sales. Abe said I would get that $ 500 back in 30 days. I emailed him this morning to get status and an hour later I get a call from Tatiana to tell me my car will be coming in a week. WTF? Why would it be coming in a week when I’ve canceled the transaction and hour after I gave payment and I haven’t signed any paperwork as well. I explained this to her and was beyond irritated so she said she will call me back once I’ve calmed down. (Really? You call to piss me off and you’re asking me to calm down??) She said I will not get my money back until they sell that car. Again WTF!!! WHY in the hell would you put that into production still when I cancelled it an hour AFTER I placed my deposit!!! Overall, I think they’re a bunch of thieves and unethical especially when they had AMPLE of time to cancel the production.
I had to call my bank to file a claim on this just to get my money back since obviously they are not willing to do so. Word of advice — stay away! They’re nice to you in the beginning and try to be helpful but they’re all a bunch of fakers who will turn on you if it’s something they’re not expecting.

I will NEVER return to mini of sterling. They denied my warranty when I was only 8 miles over the limit. I live 20 miles from the dealership so the engine light came on during my coverage. No one in either service or sales was willing to talk to me directly and it seemed as if no one actually cares about following they with good customer service. I had even agreed to allow additional services outside of the warranty at my own costs while I was there. Entirely unacceptable that they would compromise a good, loyal customer over 8 miles. I even went to speak with my original sales person and she appeared to react as if it is the usual habit of the service team and she wasn’t willing to intervene and support me. But they obviously tried to push an extended warranty on me. They can’t seem to miss an opportunity to be rude, disrespectful and simply terrible at customer service.

The service team — including but not limited to David and Eduardo — is exceptional. Knowledgeable, reassuring, competent, and it’s a pleasure to do business at Mini of Sterling. I do love my Mini —

We recently moved to the area and needed some service work on my Mini for a leak. They got me in on the same day, kept it over night then had it ready the next day. Very friendly and prompt service. I even got a car wash!

Bought my car at another Mini dealership; had an issue with the radio. Sterling is closer to my work so i took it there. While Sterling ultimately wasn’t able to help out, they were very attentive & proactive. However, it was difficult to reach my service rep while my car was there (they gave me a loaner). There really aren’t a lot of options but I’ll definitely go back to Sterling for service.

As usual, service was excellent. Jack and staff were very helpful, communicated well and did a great job.

Service is top notch. Drew in the service department always goes the extra mile to make sure I was informed of what is going on and their repairs are top notch. On the quality of service alone both the advisors and the mechanics in the back, this is a place I will continue to go to and recommend to others.
As I have mentioned in other reviews, their parts department is a sleeper. They apparently provide parts to local auto body shops, so they seem to have everything in stock. I have even gone down late on a Saturday and picked up clips for some body work I was doing, all in stock of course.

I really liked Mini of Sterling for about 90% of the sales process. They have a great selection of Minis in stock from barebones to fully loaded. My salesman was Yad, and he was really great! He was friendly and helpful and non-​pushy. Sales manager Steve was also pretty good.
Unfortunately, where it all fell apart for me was finance. Mini shares a building and finance staff with the BMW dealership. When I went back to work on finance options, the finance manager was extremely brusque with me. I know my credit score isn’t 800 and I’m not buying a $ 75,000 BMW, but from the get-​go the spray tanned finance guy made me feel like I wasn’t worth his time.
I was clear from the beginning that I wanted to reduce my monthly payments. Unfortunately, none of the available options reduced my payments by more than a couple bucks, which wasn’t worthwhile for me. I also had to pry like hell to get him to run the figures for Mini Select — I’m guessing they don’t make much money off that. Anyways, when I said no deal the finance guy was visibly angry and ended up throwing a bunch of papers at me… not cool! I get that he wasn’t happy at having spent time on me only to not make anything from it, but seriously? How incredibly rude and unprofessional.
Yad was great but if you need in-​house financing I would definitely look elsewhere. Not recommended.

Just bought a Countryman from Abe a few weeks back. You would think I was there to buy a million dollar car with the amount of attention they gave me. From the moment I walked in the entire staff was courteous and attentive. Offering me water or coffee, asking me if I needed anything. When it came to the sales aspect it was very low pressure which I appreciate being in sales myself. The negotiation was pleasant and mature and there wasn’t a lot of back and forth.
And they were all honest about the car, features, and all the options in the car and in the warranties and service contracts etc… which I appreciate as well.
And while not exactly the dealership’s per view, I love my car. It’s super fun and feels like it should have cost twice the price. Coming from driving luxury SUV’s for the last 10 years, I have all the features of a luxury car in a far more fuel efficient and practical package.
Anyway, Mini of Sterling is tops. Highly recommend them and will absolutely buy another car from them again without question.

I’ve been lucky to not need to service my car more than once a year. But there was this one time when I hit a NoVa quality sized pot hole that tore a hole in my tire that was so impressive you’d think they were slashed by professional hitmen. Stranded on the side of the toll road, mini road side assistance sent a tow truck to get me and my slain mini to the Sterling dealership. Unfortunately, mini services are closed in Sundays, so I was without a car until they opened on Monday.
My serviceman, Jack Conate, was very helpful in ensuring I got a loaner, and investigating any tire coverage i might have purchased for the car. Good thing I did have it, because that pot hole almost cost me $ 1,200 in replacement rims and tires. Since the tire insurance company took so long to process the claim (3 days), Jack took the initiative to get my loaner car fees waived. What a nice guy!
I got my pretty little car back completely cleaned on the inside and out with two shiny new rims and tires.
The next review I write will be for Vdot-​Dulles toll road. Expect hostile language. Thank you mini of Sterling for ensuring this almost credit-​card-​maxing flat tire event didn’t completely ruin my week/​month.

The service at the Mini dealership both the sales and service departments is pretty good. They do not let you sit around, they come right up and ask if they can help you.
It has been pretty easy to get service appointments and when I arrived I was quickly attended too.
The time it took to finish what needed to be done was very good and they even gave the car a wash before returning it for pickup
