Pest Now of Virginia

We have been customers since 2011. They do quarterly treatments for us but have come out on several occasions to take care of thing. We had a nasty hornet nest that took two visits to destroy but they did a thorough job and the hornets were gone. They also came out to take care of a yellow jacket nest on the ground near the front door, one visit and done. Since we use their regular quarterly treatments they didn’t charge us for either. They have come out for follow-​ups and to check on other things. Been very happy with them.

Omar Harris treated our property December 21, 2015. His consistent pleasing personality, professionalism and thoroughness in applying the appropriate pest control materials is unsurpassed. He is a true gentleman and Pest Now is particularly fortunate to have him on the staff. His outstanding performance over the past several years is worthy of special recognition.

This company has terrible service. Their technicians are in a hurry to get the money and leave. We hired them to get rid of bed bugs in our rent apartment and they did not fix the issue. They should have informed us of proper procedure on how to get all clothes and linens in bags (which another company did later).
Their customer service is not good. I sent several emails concerning my dissatisfaction that were not answered, besides the technicians would often be late to do the treatments. I do not recommend them because it will be a waste of your money. Take your business somewhere else.

I contacted Pest Now early last week and Josh came out on Saturday (at our convenience) to inspect for termites. He thoroughly checked out our storage space and around the house and not only found evidence of termites, but also mice (eek!). Today a team of fellows, Jason, JT, and Shane came by my house to treat for termites, mice, and other annoying pests. They were professional, punctual, and thorough. It was also reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them to neighbors and friends.

We have been using pest now for 2 years. We moved into our new home and almost immediately have little ants everywhere. We have signed up for their quarterly service and could not be happier. We had to call them a couple times to retreat and they always respond super fast. I email them tell them
We have ants and within minutes have an email with a 2 hour window. (This is awesome bc who has time to sit on the phone, when you can just email.) They have always shown up with in the window and wear protective booties on the house. The technician is always very respectful and explains things in details. They are also super respectful of your property making sure to lock the gates after they leave. We would not hesitate recommending them to others.
I should add I hate using chemicals in the house bc of the dogs and baby so we get the exterior treated and only treat the inside if we still see activity. They are absolutely willing to come back as many times as needed and will do what you are comfortable with which is huge for someone who doesn’t want the chemicals and has a fear of anything that moves.
They also email you the statement before pulling out of your driveway. How convenient!

After being transferred 3 times just to ask about their termite service, I lost total confidence in their customer service skills. We are looking to replace the termite service we have had with Terminix for several years. Customer service has plummeted with them so obviously that’s the first thing I’m interested in. I call the Pest Now number, a «young» girl answers and I ask for an idea of pricing. She puts me on hold for a few minutes and transfers me to someone named Fitz. I explain the same thing. He then puts me on hold for a few minutes and another person picks up. At that point I explain my frustration with being transferred 3x and she explains its because I was talking to a technician as if that was my request. She said I’d have to pay for a termite inspection and after that they could discuss treatment. We’ve had Terminix for years, there are no termites, we can do better with someone with customer service.

Their customer service is on point! I call (probably a couple times a month) and they send someone out within 24 hours — every time! We have been using them since March of this year and will continue to do so.
We originally found them on Living Social and got a steal.
Their exterminators (we have had two different guys) are professional, knowledgeable (and I ask a TON of questions), friendly and patient. Jonathan and another guy (I feel bad I can’t remember his name because he is so nice) are awesome.
I do feel like the spray may not be as effective as one would think, but because they come out as much as I need them to, I am okay with that :)
My insect problems included: ants; centipedes; and daddy long-​legs. — Still see them, but much fewer and less often.

I called this company after finding their living social deal and after my apartment complex could not get rid of my insect issue. Thank goodness I did! I was trying to let my complex handle the issue with their insect man but his spray seemed to attract more bugs! I called Pest Now and explained that I purchased their living social deal and they were very professional explained their process and stated I pay one price for every 3^rd month. If I had any issues during the three month period they come back as many times as needed– for no additional fee. Sounded good to me! So I set up an appointment and they came out within the next two days. It took 3 treatments in two months but they totally fixed the issue! I am so happy I called them and I am more than happy to pay them every 3 months! The issue should have been a little more difficult since I stay in a apartment and they couldn’t treat the apartments around me but they totally fixed it! I highly recommend pest now!

Five stars. EXCELLENT. We have been very impressed with Pest Now, specifically Mr. Edgar Mendez. He’s been out here numerous times since we’ve lived at our current address (nearly three years), and every time he has been professional and very competent. He’s answered every one of our questions and addressed every concern as well. Overall EXCELLENT job!!!

We used Pest Now for several years when we lived in Maryland, and now we use them for our house in NOVA. We have had nothing but good service, responsive management, and knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt technicians (Terry is my favorite). The price is very reasonable, and you are not locked into a contract, which a lot of other companies make you do. One of the reviewers complained that he saw a live spider after his house had been treated, but it’s true that it takes some time, patience, and consistent treatments for the bugs to go away. I HATE bugs, so I take my pest control seriously!

I first used this company for a home inspection, and it could not have been a better experience.
I then signed up for their termite warranty because I live in a damp, wooded area, and figured it’s a termite’s dream. As it turns out, I had termites all over the front of my house in May 2014. I called, and they came out to inspect. They told me the warranty only covered the front of the house, but to be cautious, I should have all three sides (end unit townhome) treated. So I scheduled the service for between 11am and 1pm on May 6, 2014. I was not home, but my mother agreed to come over and let the technician into the back yard. She arrived about 10 minutes after 11am to find a bill from PestNow on the front door, saying they had completed the treatment. My backyard is completely enclosed by a 6ft privacy fence and the gate was locked. So I called the company to dispute the technician’s claim that he had treated all three sides of the house. The office person insisted that they technician said he was able to to get into the backyard, that the gate must have been unlocked. I went home that night to find the gate still locked. I paid half of the $ 425 bill for treating the side and rear of my home, which was not covered by the warranty.
Exactly one year to the day later, and I just killed a swarm of termites on the front of my house. I am now highly suspicious that they did not treat, or properly treat, at all.
Don’t waste your money on this company!!!

I can honestly say that my opinion of PestNow has changed and that is because of the prompt and curtious response from management members and the gentlemen, Darryl, that came out for the second look. Like any product or service a true test to any company is their customer service and strength of their name. The initial phone representative painted PestNow in an ugly color that management was quick to offer the opportunity to correct their mistake or gladly refund. I’d rather not take money out of peoples pockets and prefer a second chance to reflect on Unilocal as well. I would recommend using PestNow to anyone and let them know if there is an issue — do not be afraid to raise concern, they will listen.
Now for my critiques that still stand — TRAINING! Invest in your people PestNow. It’s a shame to have workers enter a home and nonchalantely spray the doors, and perimenters with a ‘good enough’ outlook and most importantly your call center! This is the first person we speak with when there is a problem. Offer a compassionate ear and try to reach a resolution.

Initial Setup: 5 stars ***** — Setup was simple and over the phone. Marketing was through a New Home Owner’s Welcome book. Times were convienient and in a reasonable window (I believe 2hr window). Great job here
Timeliness: 5 stars — Representative phoned ahead and made it within their time window. I don’t like lateness so great job.
Cost: 3.5 stars — Not the least expensive. Make sure you have a coupon (do your homework) and it’s not the highest price. I believe the service price could best at $ 125 but I get that everyone needs to earn a living.
Value: 3.5 stars — I toggled with this one because I’m meshing the initial review with the correction. So 2 stars and 5 stars mesh to 3.5. I think for this the right person is what makes or breaks the value. You can have someone go above & beyond or meets the status quo. The first person sprayed the exterior bases of the doors and around the perimeter. Call me if you see any problems within 90 days. The second person was very customer focused and asked how I was doing, congrats on the new place and where can I start, do you need any time to vacate a room last? I can start in the basement — It was a very ‘all about you’ and I like that. Plus the rooms were sprayed properly :-) — Oh and I like that they wear the booties too!
Customer Service: 3 stars. I’ll start again by saying– I did NOT like the phone rep that said wait 7 days before we send someone back out. Thank goodness management picked up the ball and offered a second service or refund along with the compassion and understanding of reading the initial review. Their level of care should reach all the way to the members they hire and train because I really want to give 4 stars here because what management did was fantastic and they care, but your employees reflect your company so this grade is for PestNow as a whole. Change the way you train your employees — It will reflect in your reviews. This is the number one thing I look at when buying products/​services.
Overall ²⁰⁄₂₅ stars = 4 **** average. I thought it was going to be a 3 star because I do feel A-​OK over Yay! I’m a fan, but the graded weight stands. Great job management and THANK-​YOU DARRYL FOR Great level of service!

Very disappointed. Had the initial service done because there were spiders in the basement. Had the guy do the interior and exterior of the property. I come down this morning and I still see spider webs and poked the spider. Still alive. I called customer support 877−284−2466, and was told that the treatment takes seven to take effect and they will not send someone back out until after seven days. My friends use GreenStar and the their team cleans out the spiderwebs, goes through your entire house to tell you where you have a pest issue and treat. I didn’t go with GreenStar because I figured they’re all the same and why not go the cheaper route. I saved $ 15. That’s it. $ 150 is what GreenStar was gonna charge for my 4,000 sq ft house and then set me up with a monthly plan. PestNow charged $ 185 however there was a $ 50 flier. Save your money and use GreenStar for the initial and then go on Amazon to buy the spray they use for the exterior of your home or continue with GreenStar. Don’t go with PestNow. Unless you like to Unilocal about disappointments and have $ 185/​$ 135 to burn ;)

Update on the services provided by Pest Now of Virginia:
I have to say that the customer service is phenomenal! Since my last review, I spoke to the manager, who was very understanding and concerned of my needs. It’s been one year, and I have to say that I’m very pleased with their services. Whenever I see a bug in my house, ants, or what have you, I give them a call, and their schedule is very flexible. I trust them to remember to call me 15 – 30 minutes to arrival, and the staff is always on point! I’m glad I stayed with Pest Now, and I hope to stay with them for many years to come.

I used Pest Now when selling my townhouse in Sterling. It was easy to schedule, the tech called to say he come come earlier if I was there. He explained everything he had to do, let me walk around with him, and it was quick and painless. No problems at settlement! The price was amazingly low. I will be using them from here on out. Thanks guys!

I will no longer use this company. As I had an inspector show up smelling like weed and I was assured that that he was no longer allowed to do inspections, well that was a not the truth as that inspector showed up to another one of my properties. I will ensure that my company uses another company that is more responsible and is drug free.

Hired PestNow for pest inspection during our home buying inspection. The guy who came signed off saying all he saw was some bees outside. After settlement, before even moving in, we found wasps in the walls… a huge nest that we could hear from inside and they had eaten through enough dry wall to cause a foot diameter hole of damage in our dining room. After moving in we’ve been battling 3 different invasions of ants, red and black, downstairs and upstairs that come in from under window frames. Additionally, when we first moved in we opened the kitchen window and a ton of dead bees fell out of the top where there was a hole gnawed through. Something else the pest inspector failed to notice? There was also a 4 ft black snake in our finished basement. We went with a different company for snake removal and that man actually was able to determine points of entry and encircled the inside and outside of the house for points to seal up, and gave us tips and advice. Make a smart decision and avoid PestNow.

Just had our first treatment. Cameron is our technician. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He advised us that because of the rain he is going to spray the inside and come back tomorrow to treat the outside. I am confident this will take care of our potential mice issue. It also gives a peace of mind knowing that there is something down to protect our home. I look forward to having them as my regular pest control company.

Pest Now is responsive and effective. Our tech, Edgar, comes every three months to do our quarterly spraying. Between sprayings we are covered under their warranty and if we have any problems, we just call them up and Edgar comes out to help us, usually the next day. Earlier this summer he came every week for three weeks in a row because we had carpenter bees that just would not die. The people who take my calls and do the scheduling are always extremely polite and effecient and I always get an email confirming my appointment. So far we have never had to pay for anything beyond the quarterly sprayings. The warranty really covers a lot. When I was researching pest control companies, others I called had a whole list of basic bugs they wouldn’t cover in their warranty, and those companies were much more expensive.

GREAT COMPANY!!! This was my first time ever using a pest control company, I’ve been having a problem with spiders in my house. The Tech called and asked if he could come early, no problem. He was very nice, did not try to upsell me anything and charged me the $ 100 quoted price from the office with a coupon. the only thing that I didn’t like was they had me in the system for another spray in 3 months. The tech told me there was no contact so all I have to do is call and tell them not to come, not a big deal.
Well its been about a week sense he was here an no spiders! If your looking for a good pest control company call this place, I know I will in the future!

This review is MAINLY for my new guy, Jeremy Laskin. I’ve been with Pest Now since I bought my house in 2008. It’s economical and my main concern is termites. I haven’t thought much of it since I haven’t experienced noticeable pest besides the occasional spider and cricket. It once observed what I believed to be signs of termite infestation and pointed it out to Pest Now. They returned the following week to treat the area. BUT, this year I have a new guy, Jeremy, who is AWESOME! He pointed out changes I could make to prevent pests AND just to overall improve my home. Dude was AWESOME! He’s a great representation of Pest Now. I wondered why my old guy never pointed these things out?! I’m serious, when Jeremy left I felt like I had been to school. Hopefully ALL of Pest Now employees are just as sharp! I’ll stay with them a bit longer now. I recommend Pest Now and especially Jeremy Laskin.
