History

Established in 1953.

Sterling Presbyterian Manor’s history begins in 1953 when Home of the Plains was established by members of the local Presbyterian community to care for the aging population in Sterling, Kansas.

Three years later, this simple three-story white frame house became the second in what today is a network of 18 Kansas and Missouri senior living communities operated by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America.

While Sterling Presbyterian Manor today is far different from the single white frame structure that opened half a century ago, our core values still shine forth in the care given to our residents, and in the reiteration of our pledge to provide Christian-based retirement living and health care, through a continuum of care, dedicated to the values of service, respect, dignity and independence.
