Microtel Inn and Suites Stillwater

Given the so-​so reviews on Unilocal and Expedia I had very low expectations, but like another reviewer I was very pleasantly surprised with this property. It is fairly close to campus and is conveniently located near numerous restaurants. The hotel is set back off the main road a bit and has a nice drive up appeal. The lobby has an open seating area with a couch and a pair of chairs facing a wall mounted tv, perfect for catching sports updates while waiting for others. The breakfast area is fairly small with 5 – 6 tables and the complimentary breakfast is limited compared to other more expensive hotels (the only hot items are waffles and toast or bagels), but that was a small sacrifice in exchange for the lower room rate.
The rooms were very clean and much nicer than other hotels at this price level. Standard rooms with a single queen are very small (room 201) while those with two queens (room 207) offered plenty of room. Bathroom counter space is small but manageable.
Overall, very good value for the price. I will stay here again.

Rooms are small. Tvs are not hd. And the beds are just plain HORRIBLE!!! I brought my ps4 with me and had problems getting the picture to come through! And did I mention the beds??? Yeah it felt like I was sleeping in the floor when I was here!!! I will never come back.

We booked the Microtel for our recent weekend in Stillwater because it was a great price and our favorite hotel was already booked up for the weekend. There were both good and bad things that we encountered upon our stay.
The room:
The rooms were small, but clean. The bathrooms were a decent size, although there wasn’t much counter space. If you stay here, request to NOT be in room 228. This room is right above the entrance doors and we heard the rumbling of them opening and closing every time someone came in or out. This was especially annoying early in the morning when we were still trying to sleep. The TV’s were a decent size, but didn’t have HD, so every show we tried to watch came across grainy. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were too soft.
The hotel:
When we got to the hotel to check in, we were informed that we would have to wait because they didn’t have verification of which rooms were clean (this was after 4:00, when check in is supposed to be at 3:00). We ended up waiting at least 15 minutes to be able to check in. The staff was very friendly throughout our stay. The lobby area was maintained well.
The amenities:
The complimentary breakfast was decent. They had a selection of bagels, mini muffins, oatmeal packets, a few kinds of cereal, and a waffle station (although the waffle batter was empty when we came to breakfast on Sunday). We didn’t use the gym or pool, but just from observation, the pool looked very small.
We probably won’t stay at the Microtel again unless there are no more open hotels in Stillwater when we are looking for a room.

My expectations were not high due to the low cost of the room. We were pleasantly surprised with the room, free laundry, bathroom and pool. Would definitely stay here again. The beds are comfortable. They will lend blow dryers upon request.
