The Men’s Room

Have been loyally going to this place for over 3 years. I typically get a quick trim and ask for a shave. When I first started coming they used to offer an old school straight edge shave. About two years ago they stopped offering this and just basically shaved my face with a shaver… but they seemed nice enough and it was convenient so I continued to give them my business. I tend to overtip as I know that barbers probably don’t make a ton of money and I try to show thanks for a job well done. Actually used to send people there all the time.
The other day, I came in. It was an inordinately busy day. I sat down with an expectation to have to wait a little. I ended up sitting there for 1 hour and 45 mins. I counted being cut in line over four times. Friends of the individual barbers would walk through the door and were allowed to cut in front of waiting customers. The guy next to me had been sitting there for about ½ hour. When the barber turned and said… «Whoever is next between you two». That guy literally jumped up and ran to the open barber seat. I’m not one to make waves but I stood up and was like «listen… I’ve been here for almost two hours». No one even acknowledged what I was saying. Nothing. No eye contact. No apology. I just stood there like a jackass with my shmeckle in my hand. I turned and walked out the door. Very eye opening and disappointing experience to say the least. I won’t be coming back.

Solid barber shop, can get a little busy but that’s everywhere now a days. Always attentive to details, even if I am only getting a fade (Dante’s review wins the award for most arrogant elitist clown… Go hit up newbury street with your credit card and «big boy» job) Meanwhile, I’m content to go to men’s room to look clean for my job (suit and tie professional in Boston as well, just not thinking I’m better than everyone.)

My son is two and super hyperactive so I have been dreading bringing him to a barber shop. After countless bad at home haircuts I decided it was time. After lots of prepping him and the promise of a treat if he sat still and let someone give him a good hair cut, we made the attempt and I’m so happy we did!
His barber was the first guy when you walk in with the sleeve tattoos (not sure his name). He gave my son a lollipop and changed the tv to Disney Jr (all the tvs… Sorry to the other clients). The little guy didn’t move a muscle the entire time and he got an adorable cut just like the barber’s.
It was great for my son and I’m sure my husband would love the experience as well. There is a parking lot right in front which is always helpful when you have kids.
The cash only policy is a bit of a pain, but I saw that online before leaving so it was not a problem. Also, maybe not a big deal to some but one of the barbers dropped the F-​bomb and a couple other cuss words, and quickly apologized to me. Even if there aren’t kids around I don’t feel it’s appropriate in a professional setting. But I’ll be bringing my little guy back here again, since we had such a great experience and have gotten tons of compliments!

Three cuts on the left were awesome. Now I know not to go to the right. All nice guys, but some cut better than others. If you find what you like, return to the same dude. I shall.

I can see how the older crowd doesn’t appreciate this place as much as the younger crowd does. If you’re looking for an older-​style traditional barber setting, this place might not be up your alley. However, if you’re looking for a younger, cutting edge and more modern feel, with an attitude, you might like this place. I’ve tried a few barbers, but these days I stick with one of them, which I won’t reveal, since I already have to wait in line long enough to get a haircut from him. However, from what I’ve seen, they’re all competent and knowledgeable, and their services are affordable. My only beef is that they don’t take appointments, so you’ll have to endure the wait. It’s so hard to find a barber that has you walking out with a satisfying cut. I’ve been a happy customer for over one year and hope to be one for a long time. Maybe one day they’ll start taking appointments, which would make this place top notch in my eyes.

Have gone to this place for a few years now and I will continue to go here unless something goes wrong but over all a great place.

I am a professional that wears a suit and tie every day AND I’m 40. I read some of the reviews below and couldn’t disagree more with what was said. I don’t have a particular barber, I use whomever is available. I have found that when I give specific directions on what I want done, I get exactly what I requested. There are a LOT of shops in the area and I come here consistently because I get a quality cut every time. This group of barbers are the best in the business based on my experience. Also, if you like an environment built with men in mind, I couldn’t think of a better place. There is nothing better than getting a quality cut and watching a game while doing it! And the hot towel finishing me off completes the process. My favorite shop ever!!!

I’m visiting my sister from out of town and I went with her, my brother in law, and 2 nephews (20months and 4.5 years old) to get all 3 of the guys haircuts. Mike did a great job with the boys, I was really impressed. Stereotypically, you wouldn’t think a guy with tattooed sleeves would be that great with kids but he will prove that stereotype to be so wrong! We changed the channel to a kid show so the boys could be a little occupied but I honestly think they would be fine without it because they’re really comfortable with Mike.
I read the other reviews and I could see how the place might seem like it’s targeted to a you younger crowd. I mean it’s a man cave, black leather bachelor pad feel with 6 individual TVs at each of the 6 stations, check out the lounge in the back too– huge black leather couch with a giant flat screen tv on the wall elegantly surrounded by famous male actors in movie roles (or Jack Nicholson in the shining, etc). I don’t think it’s meant to be a retirement cave, or a Comiccon cave, etc. You get my drift? The joint has a cool feel and the nephews came out happy!

Sorry to say, this place didn’t do it for me. Relocated nearby and saw this place. Professional looking as far as branding, etc, but leaves a lot to be desired as far as customer service. Walked in and felt like I was interrupting a conversation between the two stylists that day. Male stylist was with a client and the female stylist was perched on her chair texting. Had to get her attention to get her to look up and asked if I could get a cut. Was seated and had a very quick consult. The two stylists talked the entire time about how they hated to clean the salon and all of the tasks their boss asks them to do. Even naming the different people who worked there and who avoids what jobs like taking out the trash, etc. Very professional… Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Haven’t stepped foot in since. Cut was mediocre. Cash only policy was a turnoff.

Great place if you wear a high and tight fade… However, if you’re a real person with big-​boy responsibilities, a real job and need an actual haircut, this is not your place. I have a simple yet traditional conservative style with some length all around. I explained what I wanted and how I wore my hair. Specifically said not to take too much off and walked out with essentially a high and tight fade with a little extra length on top.
In all my haircut receiving years, this one has to be the top 3 worst! Avoid this place at all cost. Unless of course you wear a high and tight or a hat…
Oh yeah, cash only too… No sign to indicate of course. Makes sense considering most of their usual clientele likely can’t get a credit card.

Great place, nice people, excellent value for the price. Got a haircut here while on a business trip, chose this place based on good reviews. Phil was my barber, he was extremely detail oriented, professional, and friendly. Highly recommended!

Young guys welcome. Over 40? — not really.
Spacious, industrial, black leather barbershop filled with barbers in their 20’s with slick buzz-​cuts, tats, cargo shorts, neon sneakers and too much Red-​Bull. At least 20 flat screens. Dark, loud music, vulgar language, locker-​room atmosphere.
After 3 haircuts, it’s clear that if you’re over 40, you’re not their target market. Over 50, fuhgettaboutit. If you walk in with gray hair or a shirt with a collar, they act like they don’t want you there. They don’t want to know your name. God forbid you walk in with a tie. Comments from the next chair were like how a local Harley dealer only wants to talk to «old guys with loads of money». Then, if you say you just want a trim, they still buzz the sides and back. That’s just how they cut: short and shorter. 4 different buzzers; scissors optional.
One good thing is they don’t take appointments — just go in anytime. The best part, though, is the neck shave with hot shaving cream, a straight edge razor and a hot towel for your face. It’s worth the $ 22 just for that. Even if you get a too-​short haircut, at least you don’t need another one for a couple months!
So if you want to talk about the latest Air-​Max for your sneaker collection, or how sick the recent Ultimate Cage Match was, this is your place. As long as you’re not married with kids. The kids are welcome — but Dads can go somewhere else. Sorry — but that’s just the way they’ve made me feel. 3 times.

Dig it. My typical cuttery was packed for the day, so I took a ride. Men’s Room came up highly reccomended by Unilocal, and thus I attended. Warm, hip atmosphere, with more than one or two TV’s to keep you or your progeny busy while you wait. Several barbers/​barbettes (?!?) kept people moving through the chairs without giving the assembly line feel to it. CASH ONLY (fyi) with an ATM on premise. Cut was good, and I walked out sexier than I had entered.

First time there today. I had a really bad cut from Floyds in Woburn just three weeks ago and I couldn’t stand it any more. Gail cut my hair, or more accurately, she rescued it from a bad cut. She paid attention to details and actually discussed what she would do to fix my hair. How often does that happen? My hair looks great and I am definitely going back.

If your looking for a great haircut well this is the place. The barbers are great and very friendly. There are flat screens everywhere along with a lounge room with a big screen as well. I have been going to the Medford and Stoneham location since day one and I must say that I impressed every time I leave there.
