Brian Murphy’s Expert Tree Care

I had Brian around recently for a quote. He seemed nice and very professional. I wanted to hire him but my husband had another company through Homeadvisor that he also wanted to get a quote from. The second company offered to do the job for $ 150 less than Brian; the only issue was timing. Due to weather and other commitments, it turned out they could not give a time frame and we were not happy about that at all. I had not realized that Brian had called the day before and my husband had told him we were looking at another company. When it was clear that the second company were giving us the runaround, I called Brian back to see if we could him to do the job. I also tried to «wiggle» the price a bit with him, as that was the only reason we had not signed up earlier… To my surprise, I was told that suddenly he was «not interested in the job» anymore and then told me that it was because my husband was rude to him. My husband is very sweet and is rarely rude, so I was kind of taken aback. Reading between the lines, it appears Brian was upset that we got another quote but as we had gone through Homeadvisor, and he knew that, I’m not sure why he’d be surprised.
As a business owner myself, I have learned that you need to be thick skinned in dealing with customers. Brian had never dealt with my husband, and as far as I was concerned, I was the customer, not him, but he suddenly did not want to deal with me because of my husband. I came to the conclusion that he did us a favor turning us down since I would not want to do business with someone so sensitive and who takes things so personal! A real shame, because he seemed to know what he was doing and I’m sure he does a good job.

Nice job! Not only the most competitive quote (to remove half a dozen trees) but, more importantly, Brian took the extra step; I had a large stack of branches that he removed, without charging me. It was not that he removed it, per se, but his attitude about it.
You cant fake caring and being sincere. I wish I had more trees for him to remove!
