Shelburne Farm

Pretty good, fun day. We had fun. Plenty of parking, purchase a peach bucket and was told that was a little too fun and want another 9 bucks, charging a bit more than I expected, I saw all others has the same amount and was never asked to pay more. Why me only?

First off Good Evening, I must say the staff was super sweet! Had a great time until my children got into the bouncy house and there was a staff standing by it (Pretty young guy) and him & another staff working by the burgers and things came over talking about liabilities and so fourth and so on and also a racist man who removed his kids soon as my kids got in, they all could’ve played together. It was not that serious! We don’t play the racist card here at all. I will not go back.

Fantastic! My boyfriend and I just went this morning; we’ve been meaning to go apple picking all fall but it kept getting pushed to the back burner. So we finally looked at what options were still open (lots of farms are already closed for the season for pick-​your-​own apples!) and schlepped out to Shelburne Farm from Boston.
So worth it! We got a large bag of apples (~20lb) for $ 28. We were the only people there this morning, and got to stroll their huge orchard and collect a good half dozen different types of apples. I was honestly afraid we’d be digging through the grass to find a couple good apples, but there were TONS of huge, ripe apples of a multitude of varieties still on the trees. It was a really nice walk, gorgeous scenery, tons of different apples.
Real talk: There were plenty of rotted apples, plenty of empty trees, but it was no difficulty finding arm fulls of every apple we wanted.
There were also pumpkins — we weren’t too interested in them so I honestly don’t know what the set up was.
There were also bunnies, goats, llamas, chickens, and a donkey — the goats came over and we pet them for a bit, very friendly and VERY adorable.
Afterwards, we stopped at the farm store and picked up some fresh cheese, home made fudge, cider donuts, apple cider from the farm, and packaged spices. There were also caramel apples, chocolates, pastries, already-​picked-​apples, and more… but we had to stop ourselves :)
We also grabbed some fresh hot mulled cider and coffee to go!
All around a fantastic stop, very gorgeous and well maintained farm with super, super friendly staff. The woman we spoke with (who was very happy to answer all the curious questions we had) said it’s basically day by day contingent on the weather at this point. HIGHLY recommend checking it out sometime before their season is over!

This pumpkin patch is overly crowded and not really a full patch of pumpkins. You can’t buy anymore pony rides at 3 which is unfortunate. The hayride driver we had was miserable. The good thing is that there is a bouncy house for the little ones to be entertained by and their gift shop is filled with apples, pumpkins, and delicious treats.

I came here with my mom this past weekend to go apple picking and we were so excited!
Although the farm looked amazing and there was plenty to do, we left shortly after arriving solely because of the crazy Disney-​like crowds and lines. A wait of 200+ people to pick some apples off a tree? No thank you! The line for food/​cider donuts and the line inside at the market was equally bad. The porta potties were overused and overflowing. The parking lot looked like a Patriots game day tailgate. Insanity.
We ended up going down the street to Carver Hill orchards which was exactly what we were hoping for, quieter and much more relaxing.
I hate to knock them for something that is great for their business (big crowds). Especially since I should have known better going on a long weekend, but the experience was just not enjoyable at all.

Lots is varieties of apples, hayride, pumpkin patch, pony ride, animals, fresh cider donuts! Can’t go wrong here! Easy for kiddos too!

The farm is very pricey for a family with 2 or more kids… Apple bag vary from $ 20 – 28, if you want your kids to enjoy the maze, and even a PLAYGROUND you must purchase a kiddy pass for $ 6 PER KID!!! plus $ 2 P/​P for the hayride. I mean ridiculous! and you cant even enjoy the little tiny barn because cars are passing by. I honestly experienced better. A big disappointment. Not worth it unless you have the $$$$.

Went apple picking here the other day. The selection was great. There were lots of cute farm animals to pet and horses to feed apples to! I liked the selection of goodies available at the snack stand. The apple cider donuts and French apple tarte were amazing! My only complaint is that for a small bag of apples it was $ 20, which is a little expensive for me. I would return though.

For years we went to honey pot but now we have a toddler so I was looking for something more kid friendly. This place was amazing! The parking lot was small so either get their early or after lunch time. We got there around 10:30am and there was still some parking and when we left around 1:30pm there was so much more parking.
The petting zoo was right next to the parking lot along side the hay maze. They had so many kid friendly activities I would go back just to pay the $ 6 for the activities and cider donuts! The $ 20 for a bag of apples was expensive but worth the experience.
I loved how everything was so close together we didn’t need to schlep our stroller around just carried our child from activity to activity.
I would just like to see actual bathrooms built instead of porta potties!

This orchard still feels like a farm! Lots of apples to pick. and you can walk or take a hayride. Lots of farm animals, new water play with old fashioned hand pumps. AND THE BEST cider donuts !!

Love the fact that it is a local business and is much less commercial than Honey Pot. Was really shocked at the prices yesterday though. A box of pick you own peaches $ 23 and that is only if you are below 8lbs, exceed that and they charge you $ 3.95 per lb. We did it though (love those peaches) passed on the apple picking ($ 50 for a day of pick your own is too high). and we just bought apples in the store. Gave it a 3 because I think they should have a smaller option for peach picking and some lower prices for people who do not want $ 45.00 worth of fruit.
Don’t go in the real season. It is awfully crowded and you get coralled into small places only to pick. They make sure EVERY tree is picked before they open up another spot so you will be tripping over other pickers. Go during a weekday or off time.

Friendly staff, good variety of apples, and different kids’ activities make this a good option for apple picking with a family. It’s pretty pricey (although I guess I have little to compare it to). $ 27 for a bushel (about 50 apples).
The store is pretty well-​stocked with trinkets and novelty items, as well as syrups, cookbooks, apple cider doughnuts, etc. There is an animal area (not so much for petting, but for viewing) and hayrides, tractor rides and pony rides for kids (all cost separate fee).

I went last weekend and it was fun. Price wise, they don’t charge entry fee. Which is good. They have a lot of different varieties of Apples and some of them you don’t find in grocery stores. So that’s interesting. The orchard is pretty large and I guess it may be even too large for some people. But you don’t have to go everywhere.
They provide ladders so that was fun for me to climb it. The apples smell so good in the orchard I was totally in love with the air.
They have some animals but not a lot. It is just some added fun if you have animal lovers in your family or group. Their farm stand is ok but I didn’t feel it was very special.

This place is great if you like Fuji apples and Jonagolds. The Fuji apples had a slightly tougher skin than the Jonagolds. The peck (10 lbs) is $ 19 while the bushel is $ 27. Check the middle of rows for the best apples as people like to pick on the edge of the rows. The apple orchard is not too far from the main entrance.
The Hayride costs money along with the hay maze and some tractor driving activity. Bathrooms are porta potties, but there is a sink to wash your hands.
Cider donuts are very light! You can eat two and not feel heavy. There are two kinds: plain and cinnamon sugar. The plain were sweet enough without the sugar. Cost is $ 5 for half dozen and $ 9 for a dozen. Orders were fresh and made to order.

Get here while there are still apples left! I’m rating 4 stars for the amount of fun I had, but given the location — there are a few other great orchard options that offer more activities for children.
Shelburne Farms offers an assorted selection of apples, picked right off the tree — depending on what week you come in the fall. Expect Cortlands, MacIntosh, Empire, and Red Delicious toward the end of the season. Get there earlier and you’ll have a shot at the Fujis!
A good-​sized pumpkin patch, where you can buy one to carve, or set up a photo with the kids. They even have a few llamas hanging out under a tent that you can take photos of.
While the hayride is a lot of fun, it’s shorter than at some other local orchards. You can walk the entire property with no problem, and get to the very last row of trees to find the untouched branches!
The line to the farm store, and for the food cart, were so long that we didn’t have a chance to partake. It looked like the farm store had bags of apples that had been available in the prior weeks. The line to get into the property was also daunting. We opted to take the more treacherous option of street parking, then walking .3 miles up to the property. From there it was more waiting in line to buy the small sized $ 19 bag for apple picking.
Bottom line: Busy during peak, no pears, picked over selection, smaller than other local orchards, but gets the job done and is a great time!

We went on a weekday morning with kids and it was wonderful. There was plenty of parking and the trees were not picked over. We had a great time and will go again next fall!

Had such a great time here apple picking! This is a great spot to go to with your family and get a variety of apples. Macintosh, Delicious, Fuji all kinds! There are 2 types of bag sizes and prices, and parking can get crowded so go early. You are going to get dirty so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. There are animals to see: bunnies, chicks, Llamas, goats, donkeys and lots of fun things for the kids. (hayrides, jumpy house, donkey rides) Check the weather before coming, we were blessed to have such a great sunny day.

This review is for early September peach picking. I went with a group of mothers with kids ranging from toddler to 10 years old and everyone had a great time.
What a charming little farm. All the employees went above and beyond to make this a great experience. When peach picking they gave me very detailed directions on where to find the best peaches and boy did they know what they were talking about. The peaches were delicious. One of the employees picked dandelion leaves for my toddler to feed to the bunny rabbits. Another employee spend a good 15 minutes showing the children in my group the horses telling the children the names and answering all the kids questions. They have picnic tables, trash cans, portapotties and sinks to wash your hands. Lots to do and see.
We went on a weekday and we had the whole place to ourselves.

$ 18 for half peck. $ 0.95/lb for sugar pumpkins.
I really like this farm because they have a ton of different types of apples AND they keep their website updated. They also have heirloom varieties of apples (sheep nose, Braeburn, etc etc) so you get to taste something pretty unique and local.
The staff who work in the apple orchards are really nice too and will give you directions if you’re lost and looking for a specific type.
Their cider donuts were Delicious last year but today when I visited them again and got «plain» cider donuts instead of the «cinnamon sugar» cider donuts, we got a bag of stone cold donuts. I should have said something but I thought maybe they’re still be tasty, but nope, they tasted exactly like what you think stone cold donuts would taste like. Rubbery. Sigh. So don’t get the plain ones!!!
I bought the cutest ornamental gourds/​pumpkins from here last year, and I came back today expecting more (especially since the website said they still had them) but… I didn’t find any in the farm stand. So I was surprised. Usually the site’s updated.
All in all great farm with nice ppl.

Very cute and a lot of stuff to do… We went for a bday part and did the hayride, hung in the pumpkin patch, watched the kids bounce in the bouncy house, watched them press some cider and apple picked… it was quite enjoyable.
I will say their cider donuts are not as great as the ones at honey pot hill… they were ok but the flavor was off just a little. We enjoyed ourselves, though.
