My boyfriend and I rented skis through AJ’s. We made reservations online for the discount, were able to pick the skis up the day before, and dropped them off the next day! Dakota who helped us with the skis was super friendly & helpful and had great customer service skills. Much much more affordable then renting on the mountain and better service. We will be back next year.

Great gear, knowledgeable staff, ski rentals 20% less expensive then mountains. The staff is always willing to help and you can pick up ski rentals at 2:00pm for the next day without being charged.

This is a centrally located store in Stowe. I had my work cut out to search around for different points of views via in-​store visits in Stowe. This is a small town, where most business are out of commission by 4: pm which happens to be the cutoff in ski lift shutdowns in Stowe.
The best thing I would recommend is to shop around. Found AJ’s online, made my reservations and i got an email back with confirmation. I arrived on a Friday and my ski equipment reservation was for Saturday morning, but I visited the store just to get a feeling of the ambiance.
From my personal experience, I was taken care appropriately.
SKI GEAR SECTION: They were very patient, explained things well and on terms of equipment made good suggestions.
SKI CLOTHING AREA: Felt this area was understaffed. But they had a good variety and quite a good sales.
SKI EQUIPMENT RENTAL area, in basement: The staff here was excellent! Simply said!
I started with a basic package, very affordable. Then the next day upgraded to next level which by the way had much more comfortable boots.
Pros: You have to pass AJ’s as you drive to the Stowe Mountain resort. They have good parking, If you are from the North East (big cities) you may have to be patient. It will pay off!
The store is open until 8:00pm. In fact AJ’s is one of the few places opened after 4pm.
Cons: I can’t say that I found any problems. These are human beings like us, and no one is perfect.
Remember! A good attitude helps!

Rude and unhelpful staff. They swindled our group by charging for an extra day of rental. Going to be disputing the charge.

Best rental place for winter and summer. Helpful staff! Fair prices. Also the ONLY place in VT that would bother to do a special order for a $ 10 part for my snow board boots.

Princess and I stop here each time we come up to Stowe. Filled with the latest gear and friendly staff, we’ve never left empty-​handed. Questions? They’ve got answers Gear? Yup, packed upstairs and down with the neccesary year round sports must-have’s. Staff? Always helpful and eager to help you part with your cash happily.

Incompetent and rude. Avoid at all costs.
Rented skis/​boots/​poles for two days in Jan 2013. They lost our on-​line reservation, threw some boots at us, and were rude when one of the pairs didn’t fit. They replaced those with a pair three sizes bigger so that we had to wait on line again. We had to point out multiple mistakes in the way they rang up our bill (amazingly, these all favored them!) and ended up with a receipt with someone else’s name on it.
There are other places in Stowe to rent — we will not be back.

I was skiing up at Stowe and I had a simple problem. A buckle had broken on my boot so I needed a shop to order the part so I could pick it up next time I was up there. I called AJ’s because they are a dealer of the brand of boots I had, and I simply asked them if they could order this buckle. The guy on phone was rather rude and said, «Uh that’s not what we do here.» I repeated and asked. «You can’t just call the company and order something?» He rudely replied, that they «don’t do that.»
I spent several years working in a ski shop and when a customer requests something you can order, you pick the phone and order it. Its that simple.
I’m not sure if the people at this shop are lazy or simply incompetent but they clearly don’t know how to run a ski shop or know anything about customer service.
So I called another shop in town who simply said they’d order the part and it would arrive next week. Now wasn’t that easy?
AJ’s just lost a customer.

service with a snarl. These are the first guys you come to on the access road. Keep driving there are plenty more who seem to be happy to do business with you.

Rented skis from them, they were very professional, and service was quick. They also had some ski pants the wife wanted– the service was good and polite, and we ended up buying them. If I ever ski Stowe again, I would definitely rent from them again.

We bought our snow board boots from them. I have never seen anybody more helpful than the lady that was helping us. Very very satisfied with everything.
