Extremely tight parking. We both drive SUVs. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk let us both park our cars on the property. Then at about 12:30am we get a call asking for one of the cars to be parked on Ventura Blvd. because there is only 1 space per room. The room also smelled pretty bad almost like they don’t air it out after each guest and the cover on the bed did not smell like it’d been wash in a while. We didn’t use it. Not worth $ 90, at all.

Rushed us to check out. TV remote didn’t work. TV barely worked. No courtesy noon check out.assholes.

I had some guest over last week and they needed a place to sleep for few days while visiting LA. we been searching on line. prices was very expensive till I find this place on Unilocal.Very nice small motel. Prices was great $ 85 per night with some tax. They have indoor jacuzzi which was nice. The area is safe and quiet. The manger was very nice. Highly recommended.

We gave this motel a high rating because of the overall cleanliness. The price was $ 90-​some with tax (more for an indoor-​jacuzzi room), and for that amount, you get a small room that has your basic motel needs, including a big, comfy bed. The area is quiet, too. Parking is tight, but there are roughly 20 spaces.

For the price in the area it was the best deal. Not as for the quality of the place, you get what you pay for. No coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, mattress made out of granite, hard pillows and worst part TIGHT PARKING! My car barley fit into the spot between the lines and its brand new, so thankfully the ladies that parked next to me were very careful not to ding my car. Expect to see people who just got out of jail smoking around the area. It would be 2.5 stars, but the lady everyone said was rude was actually very nice to me. Would I stay there again? If on a tight budget, yea, if I can fork out another $ 40 bucks I’ll head elsewhere.

The Indian woman working the front desk decided to cancel a reservations of four marines that traveled from San Diego to Los Angeles for the weekend. Leaving them without a place to stay. At 10:30 pm upon their arrival, they are now looking with no luck of a room. Horrible human being!!!

This motel was the only place I could find that had a room available for my family the night before our trip to Universal Studios and when we got here we changed our minds. The lady was really nice but this is a motel if you ask me and did not look or feel like a warm, clean respectable hotel. We ended up going elsewhere and will not return anytime soon.

Bed sheets were wet when i went in there. I called front desk and told them about the situation and I was told to come myself to the front and get a new pair of bed sheets. Aren’t they supposed to bring it and CHANGE it themselves? Oh and the place dose smell like shit, so i check out 10 mins later.

Do NOT stay here. At the very least, do not trust what u are told on the phone. Just as promised, I am leaving this review to advise that this sham of a business discriminates or just flat out lied for no good reason. Like another Unilocaler, I too was told there were rooms available upon calling. We let the receptionist know that we were about half an hour away and her exact words were «we have plenty». So imagine our surprise when we arrive and are told there are no rooms available. I walked out to the car wondering how it was that plenty of her rooms were all booked in that span of time, and along my walk I’m passing room after rooms that are vacant. Curtains drawn open and all. We drove a distance to get here and I didn’t appreciate the inconvenience this caused. Don’t know why my business was not welcomed but I hope anyone considering this place exhausts all other options before staying here.

and it was fine.
(they let me take the oversized parking spot in the front.
Oh I almost forgot the best part!!! This place is super clean!!!
It is in a great neighborhood! Awesome farmer’s market just west a couple blocks on Sunday! Loved the Studio Café at the end of the block for breakfast. Great sushi all over, a trader joes walking distance was a treat to supplement the fridge in room. There is an awesome local bar across street called Laurel Tavern for beers and grub, also the Firefly for fun and dinner or Next Door (which is directly across the street) for Late night tapas! And of course 24 hour Dupars (stumbling distance) rocks it’s! I even stumbled across a great cigar spot called Havana Cigar!
Definitely staying here when I come back!

I will never recommend this spot to anyone again. Horrible customer service, very unorganized and unhelpful. There are better spots in the area. Stay at your own risk!

THESE PEOPLE WILL ROB YOU! Zero stars Unilocal,fix it so there can be zero, no badge for this place. Where to begin. Asked for non smoking room and room couldn’t smell any worse of smoke, also the cig burns in the blankets might be a warning this wasn’t a smoke free room. Bed was absolute crap to sleep on, felt like a crate with a plastic blanket on top. But I would normally just shut up and be on way in situations like this but I’ve been outted for two day rates I didn’t have to stay in the room and was only given the option of a one day free credit which obviously I wouldn’t use or even gift to anyone I cared about. I understand a no refund policy if someone has stayed in a unit and felt like they wanted their money back and you just don’t get it back because that’s the rules but I purchased 4 nights with a possibility of 5 talked about, because my house needed work done and they ended up finishing 2 days sooner than expected. The really frustrating part is that not only am I not in that crap hole room getting charged but they will probably rent the room out and make double for two nights. So all I can hope is that people in the future read this message and take their business elsewhere.

I liked that this place has a very convenient location. the first thing I noticed about the motel is it is very clean.
Management was friendly and very helpful. She took the time to show care and concern for each guest.
My boyfriend I were pleasantly suprised when we found out the room not only had a big flat screen TV but also a fridge and microwave. Very clean and well taken care of spot.
Definitely will come here again!!!

Horrible horrible service, just ridicules !!!
I live in Las vegas, and arrived in LA at 2 am.
When I called to make a reservation, the receptionist told me I have a room waiting, I wanted to give her a credit card and she said «it’s ok, I trust you «and took my number
When I arrived to the hotel, she had the audacity to tell me she made a mistake and that she noticed it right after our conversation, and didn’t bother to let me know!!!
Considering it’s august, all the other hotels were full, we ended up sleeping in the street .

I read the reviews and risked it anyway. We got a cash discount of $ 75 even for the night. The room and whole building had been completely remodeled and the hot water was working on a night they were fully booked (in spite of the previous reviews)… the bed was comfortable for me and there was a refrigerator but no microwave. Honestly, I just wanted a room where we could hang out naked, smoke a cigarette and get our online business taken care of. We had contracts for the tour we were on to complete and email out and just wanted something with no distractions to get that done… HOWEVER…
The internet is a HUGE issue. It was mandatory for me and I tried repeatedly to confirm that their internet was working and Jorge said yes. We could only be on it for about 2 hours after a really long attempt to get it working and then it crapped out until check out the next day, which almost made the room useless to us at that point because we literally are working on the road and needed the connection to be able to move onto the next spot, etc. He did offer a refund if we wanted to check out since it had been less than an hour since our check in, but that was beside the point. Don’t lure me in with promises over the phone and at the front desk that the internet was working when it doesn’t.
Also, Jorge was very nice and accommodating at the front desk, but over the phone when we called from the room he would hang up after he responded to whatever your question was, giving you no time to clarify anything through his accent, ask if you needed anything else or any other «call back if you need anything» sort of manners.
I guess if you don’t need wifi or just want to pay for the TWC city wide wifi per hour, it’s not an issue, but this was the ONLY thing we were really needed besides the room being bug free inside.
The other downside is the parking. There is not enough spots for the number of rooms and getting into and out of the spots is really really difficult because of how tight everything is in the parking lot. The office is in the center of the lot and you don’t even have a full car space between the building and the spot for backing out, etc. So if there are any cars in the lot at all you’re going to have a very difficult time getting through to parking spots farther in and then it’s not an easy turn in and park situation at all (unless you have a smart car, I would assume)… you’re going to need to maneuver a 5 point turn, hoping not to hit anything or anyone, just trying to park and you can imagine, I’m sure, what it’s like trying to get OUT of the spot in the morning.
Check out was easy enough… just dropped the key card in the office and left. Not bad at all. No bed bugs or any other bugs for that matter and it was very very clean on the inside.
There is a lot around in the way of food and entertainment, so once you do get your car maneuvered in, you can walk to anything you need and a lot of it is open 24 hours or at least late at night and it’s surrounded by restaurants as well as places that deliver, so I suppose if you’re just looking for a quiet night away with your sweetheart and don’t plan on using the internet or coming and going for a couple of days on a vacation or stop over, it’s not that bad at all, but I really wouldn’t pay that much again for the experience I had and at $ 75 it was a steal anywhere in LA… but again, I was handicapped to do any business so it was pretty much a loss financially for us. I guess it just depends on your needs for a room for the night.

i was in a tough spot. had to get out of my house with no notice. i was looking for a cheap place to stay somewhere in all of LA on a saturday night. found this place through Unilocal.it’s not really listed anywhere else and doesn’t take online reservations.
i called and spoke with jorge. he said he had a couple of rooms left. i said i’d be right over.
it all worked out well. sort of.
pros —
room was relatively clean. bathroom was clean at least. no bugs.
i felt safe since i was right in view of the front office and the neighborhood is safe.
cons —
though i felt safe i wasn’t sure about my stuff. the few times i left, even if for a little while, i locked my valuables in the trunk of my car.
sheets had stains on them. didn’t find that out until i went to get in the bed.
parking is a nightmare. lot is TINY and i saw jorge turn people away who were staying there. it’s really hard to get in and out of and street parking is very limited if even possible.
there are NO services. like no maid service at all. i was inside almost ²⁴⁄₇ and no one even attempted to clean the room. no ice machine, no vending machine, no shampoos, no fridge, nada. there’s not even a do-​not-​disturb sign or anything.
there’s no price posted on the back of the door (which i think is a legal requirement) or on their website. so i think they just charge whatever they want to. if you read other reviews you’ll see that not only do the prices vary greatly but they can quote you one thing and charge you another. i was paying $ 85 a night and i think i got scammed.
wifi is spotty at best. out for long periods of time. and slow when it is working. don’t even think about watching video.
sketchy people in the other rooms. a bunch of guys in one room who looked like they were up to no good.
weird —
shower temp was steady but the stream would stop and start.
i was there for 3 days and jorge was the only person there. and he was always there, night and day. i asked him if he ever sleeps and he said he was going to be getting off soon but there he was again for the next few days.
and finally, he wouldn’t tell me from day to day if i could stay another night. you can’t go online and make reservations and you can’t make a reservation in person with your credit card in hand. i would ask him if i could stay the next day and he would say that his computer was down and he didn’t know. i would go in the next morning and he would say yes. until, on day three, he said no. and then i was SOL. not good. i had to scramble to find another place with only a few hours to do so. have to say that it stressed me out a lot to not know what was going to happen from day to day.
the stress on top of no service at all? i’d look elsewhere the next time.

We decided to drive up to Universal Studios Hollywood after work one late afternoon. We got so stressed out with traffic we decided to just rest but, we couldn’t find any affordable nice place to stay in. We decided to just stay in the one motel/​hotel we saw first of how exhausted we were. Fortunately Carlton Lodge Motel was the first one. We gave it a try and by far was the best choice we could have done.
Not only was this place affordable but the service was great. The receptionist George made it the best. He honestly made us feel like home. He also suggested great places to dine, hangout and tour. The rooms were so nice and clean, remodel up to date, bathrooms were gorgeous, and even had a jacuzzi. Had the best experience at this motel and are hoping to go back real soon. Mostly to see are new friend Jorge who gave us a great experience.

Had a very good experience. Room was not fancy, but very nice and more importantly, very clean! Our room was missing towels, but after a quick phone call, they arrived in minutes. Problem solved! The clerk was super nice and helpful. Would recommend to anyone. Parking lot is a bit tight, but not much can be done about that.

I was trying to book a 4 night stay & since there is no online option I called to make reservation. The receptionist spoke very little english & may be hart of hearing. He was yelling at me from the start as I was trying to answer his many questions & spell my last name for him & I couldnt understand what he was saying but he yelled something & then hung up on me! I know it wasn’t a reception issue because I was calling from my work land line. I really wanted to give this place a chance but now that looks like it wont be possible.

If you like a mattress that feels like the pavement this your place.
If you like dirty walls this is your place.
If you like trash on your floor then get ready to roll in it.
If you like thin walls this your place.
If you like an air conditioner that’s louder than a Kiss concert bring your ear plugs.
If you like the 3^rd degree when renting a room this is your place.
If you like broken Soda machines you’re in luck.
If you want a burnt pot of coffee with no cups you’re in luck.
If you need Kleenex you’re SOL.
If you want a neon sign in your window all night. bullseye this is for you.
If you want the air conditioner to blow the curtains up like an umbrella then this your 5 star.

Thought this would be a good place to set up the family for a week… but it wasn’t!
Two rooms were rented and one had no hot water — the other had a funky smell and the carpet left your feet/​socks black.
The only reason for the second star of the rating is that they gave them an excellent weekly rate!
I do NOT recommend this hotel!!!

The good: location! right by Laurel Canyon on Ventura, you are on sushi row. Excellent food just a few steps away. The rooms are renovated, and clean. Good water pressure in the shower. Friendly staff.
The bad: Very uncomfortable beds, lousy bedding. Wifi doesn’t really work at all– or at least I never could get it to work in several days of staying here. Parking lot– quite a disaster. Very small rooms. No pool.
Overall– it’s under $ 100, and an excellent location. You certainly can find better, but will probably have to pay more. I’d stay here again– even with all the hassles, just to have Katsu-​ya sushi a few steps away, and quick access down Laurel Canyon to west Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
I’d go with 2 ½ stars– but that’s not an option.
