Core Conditioning

i’m a big fan of Gabrielle and everyone over at Core Conditioning. The place is clean and very comfortable. Their team is very friendly and experienced.
I suffered from back pain that was unbearable and uncomfortable. Core to the rescue! After a few sessions of physical therapy, I felt like a new man. Not only did they help cure me, but they also recommended a few exercises to do at home. I also learned from them how to properly stretch my body. This has been so helpful. I am so thankful for all they have done for me.
I’ve referred so many of my family, friends and clients to Core and they have all been very happy. They are professional, experienced and on top of it all, they care about their patients. There’s a reason why they are so busy.

Since my Pilates trainer of 10+ years moved away (boo!), I decided to try Core on her recommendation… and I was not disappointed! Mainly I take reformer classes with Tiza and Emma, who are both excellent. The workouts are always challenging, but the trainers make sure to understand any physical issues you have to avoid strain or injury. I’ve had a lot of back problems, but Pilates has strengthened my core and lessened pain considerably. And if I ever do have a bad episode, I also know I can come here for PT. P. S. Prices for classes are also very reasonable, especially if you buy a package.

After going here for many years I was extremely disappointed at how I was treated. It was as if I was a stranger. No compassion, especially by the owners. They were of no help whatsoever and I was basically ignored by all. In fact, after 7 years I was gone for knee replacement surgery and they cancelled my class with no notification and no intention of a refund, I had to call and call in order to get my money back and NOT ONE person called or emailed to see if I was still alive. I felt like a fool, after such devotion and praises I had been giving them. It was mainly Tiza who was fantastic and amazingly knowledgeable whom I miss the most. I have only great things to say about her, but the owners really could use some education about PT and on their dealings with people. DO NOT GO THERE, if you have any physical issues, they will NOT be at all helpful!

My daughter who is a dancer tore her ACL in July 2014. She was supposed to have surgery so her doctor suggested that she do physical therapy prior to her surgery. She started at Core Conditioning in August. She had surgery in late September. Her surgery was completely successful. We never expected her recovery to be as hard on her as it was. Our experience with Megan and Elson whom are both physical therapists treating my daughter and encouraging her in recovery. They have been nothing but kind, knowledgeable, understanding, professional and extremely patient. They are fully committed to taking care of their patients needs and concerns for the well being of their patients.
I am also a patient of theirs in recovery from a meniscus repair and a spinal fusion. I have been suffering since my fusion in 2008. This is the first time I’ve had any relief with Pilates. I’m doing whatever I can not to have another surgery.
I also must ad that the assistants Patrick, Ashley and Melissa who are extremely knowledgeable, patient and understanding l have been fantastic experience.
it is such a pleasure to walk in and be greeted by such an amazing staff. Bertie is such a fantastic addition to the Core family. She always takes care of any issues that may arise. She’s on top of everything. I have never had any issues with waiting, my appointments are always scheduled and we’re always seen on time. Parking is so easy. It’s a very convenient location.
It’s also important that you do know that the owners are truly committed to their art. All of the therapist are top notch.
It truly has been an amazing journey.

I’m a former college basketball player. By 28, my back pain was considered chronic and I visited a chiropractor and massage therapist regularly. By 30, I had a herniated disk and added Pilates, physical therapy, and acupuncture to my routine. By 33, things were only getting worse. I tried Egoscue and eventually hit an emotional rock-​bottom.
Fortunately, I was led to Gabrielle and things are finally turning around for me. After all my experience, I’ve learned that the most important aspect of realignment is building the muscles to stay in alignment. The team at Core Condition understands this concept. I’m 8 sessions in and I’m moving with a lot less pain, I’m finally able to do exercises that build muscles without compromising my back, and I’m hopeful that an active lifestyle is in my near future.

As a retired Ballerina with 20 years on stage I have had a life time of physical therapy experiences. I am incredibly grateful for Core Conditioning! The facility is state of the art .Both owners work at Core and have a wealth of experience and compassion .The staff is incredibly kind and helpful .Core has a reputation amongst the dance community for understanding the demanding needs of athletes .I am also impressed with the trainers .I have watched them with both group and individual sessions they have extensive skills and conduct full well rounded workouts. If you need to train or rehabilitate Core Conditioning is fantastic !

Professional, clean friendly. I’ve been taking CoreAlign and redcord from Tiza at both locations for 9 years. I’ve also done some PT with them. The atmosphere is serious but not uptight. They encourage a healthy relationship to fitness and health. No «thinsperation» here. Yes some Hollywood types but people from all walks, ages and body types will feel welcome.

Had high expectations since I was referred by my doctors office. But alas, it’s been very disappointing.
After confirming my co-​pay amount & having their billing office confirm benefits, I went in for my first appointment. Although surprised at how long I waited for the therapist & how young she seemed, I was still hopeful. After the first 15 minutes it was painfully obviously that the therapist had little/​no experience with my condition. We did no stretching, exercises, or Pilates, just breathing. She said next appointment we would work with the reformers. Again, hopeful.
When I showed for my second appointment, I was put with another therapist! So I had to have my «initial consultation» for a second time and we wasted almost the entire hour chatting about my condition. I realized i needed someplace more qualified. I let the girls at the front desk know all subsequent appointments were to be cancelled and assumed it was done.
6 months later… I just a call from a collection company telling me I have 2 no show appointments and also additional non-​covered insurance charges. Shocked, I left 2 message for Core’s billing dept. After 2 weeks, I finally spoke to an Emma in the billing office. She was beyond rude and irritated with me for asking to see invoices and to confirm charges, which she couldn’t/wouldn’t do via telephone. Now I am going to the office in person to get some answers. Keeping my fingers crossed that this can be reconciled. Update to follow…

This review is for the Balanced Body training course I have been taking here. The teacher, Roger is great. The balanced body books appear to be good — I’ve taken Mat 1 and Reformer 1 with the intention of working on my hours. Enrolling for the course was convenient using the online portal. Dealing with the horrible staff of Core in Studio City is nothing short of miserable. I have no idea how people come here for a healing experience. For one thing, there doesn’t seem to be much interest in the program nor the students beyond the expensive classes you sign up for and show up to. Even tho you are told that you can use the facility to come and practice the exercises and teach fellow students, its not true. In reality, the facility is not available. Not only did I call and email multiple times, but the final email exchange with one of the studio heads I was told that «core is not a 24 hour facility.» I realize that core is not del taco. I did attempt to schedule time and even left work early on one occasion to go when I was told I could use the reformer only to be turned away. No one really cared when I told them about it. They didn’t attempt to fix it. I guess they just hope I will go away. Not exactly the experience I was looking for. I’m between a rock and a hard place because if you are thinking about teacher training then you know that once you are part way into paying for one program, switching to another one is not transferable. the only way to complete your hours with this program is if you are very rich and own your own reformer or if you pay at a different facility. I am in the process of finding some new options where it seems they care about their students. I was thinking I wanted to pilates in a healing/​pt setting but reading some of the reviews on here about how these exercises are being used at core even makes me doubt their ability to show me the way. Not to mention them not caring about me as a student at all, or customer. I can’t stress enough how you should find a different option for teacher training if you don’t own your own reformer or have another facility where you can work on your hours. its not a program that makes you feel like you are part of a community. Its a stand alone situation where you get a manual and you need to figure the rest out yourself.

I was skeptical at first. Been to places where they simply Ultrasound, Ice, give you an exercise and forget about you. Not here!
Very knowledgeable staff, excellent equipment, clean and bright facility.
Most importantly they work hard to get you better.

This review is long overdue. Part of the reason why it has taken me so long to write it is because of the physical pain which I was in and which was made worse by the treatment that I received at Core Conditioning.
I initially went to Core Conditioning in approximately October 2012 for an injured knee. Each time I left Core, I was in worse pain than I had been in before I walked in. I thought that perhaps it was part of the recovery process.
The treating physical therapist knew about a prior back condition and was to take that into consideration when rendering treatment. Nonetheless, when I saw my doctor for a follow up visit, he informed me that I had gotten worse and that I then had an injury in another part of my back. When I saw my physical therapist at Core again, she too said that I had gotten worse.
In the time during which I received therapy, my physical therapist and I discussed the fact that my treatment could not be delegated to aides. The aides who work with the physical therapists are merely Pilates instructors. They are not qualified to treat someone with my conditions. Nonetheless, she did have an aide take over my treatment at times until I finally said that it was making things even worse and she agreed.
After many weeks of pain and suffering, my physical therapist finally devised a plan that seemed to work– meaning that I left Core without being in excruciating pain on ONE occasion. During the very next visit however, my PT informed me that she was going on vacation. I was concerned that my condition would get worse by being treated with someone unfamiliar with my condition. She and the front desk recommended that I be treated by Gabrielle — the owner. I was assured by my physical therapist that she would discuss my treatment with Gabrielle prior to her going away.
When I arrived for my appointment with Gabrielle, I waited 15 minutes for her. During the appointment, it became clear that she knew nothing about me. She flipped through notes and asked me to update her. When I did, she too said that I had gotten worse. After 15 minutes with Gabrielle, she handed me off to an aide. When I explained my reluctance about this, she said that I could leave or work with the Pilates instructor. When I pointed out that she had only been with me 15 minutes, she said that I must have been late and that her next client was waiting– never mind the fact that the appointments are supposed to be 45 minutes!
After I left that appointment, I could hardly walk. The next day, because I was in the area, I limped in and asked the front desk to tell Gabrielle that I was in terrible pain and would not be returning. Twenty minutes later, my phone rang. One would think it would have been Gabrielle showing concern about her patient. But no. Shockingly, it was Core’s billing department asking for information so that they could get paid.
Shortly thereafter, I received a bill. I wrote to Gabrielle telling her that I was extremely disappointed and stated that she did not deserve any money much less a co-​pay from me. In response, Gabrielle said she was going to send me to collection.
This was after I told her that the pain in the left knee had lead to lower back pain and an inflamed nerve in my right foot due to favoring the right side of my body for so long.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless you want to see celebrities doing Pilates. For medical treatment, I would strongly recommend you go somewhere else, especially when the owner has such a callous and dismissive attitude toward an injured patient.

I am a Pilates instructor (in training). I took a weekend workshop at this location with Roger and he was awesome! During this time, I was able to observe the other Pilates instructors working with their clients and could see their attention to detail and passion to improving the lives of their clients. Wish I lived near here so I could attend more often!

This place is awesome but it gets One Star because it’s simply impossible to schedule an appointment. Need rehab? As long as you can wait 2 – 4 weeks to see someone, you are fine. Otherwise you are out of luck. Did you get an appointment? You just won the lottery.

I was referred to Core by my surgeon following an accident. I hadn’t been to a facility like this before and didn’t know what to expect. That it was very clean and professional was obvious frpm my first visit.
My therapist did a lengthy evaluation on me and asked me about details of my surgeon’s notes. She then designed a course of exercises for me, using the machines and staff at Core, as well as supporting exercises to do at home. I was re-​evaluated once a month, and this information was shared with my primary care Dr. as well as my surgeon. I could go to any one of them and know they had my current info.
I was intrigued by the different machines Core uses, and how one can do a variety of very specific exercises, very safely. The emphasis on doing the exercises safely, without pain, was constant. I’d been a distance runner and also done hurdles in school, and felt very happy and safe that Core’s staff were watching me so closely.
Core’s clientele looks kind of high-​end (like performing arts dancers or Cirque du Soleil types,) yet the atmosphere wasn’t snobby in the least. Even the classes look like fun!
I’m so glad my insurance contracts with Core, as I“m getting excellent care and actually enjoying my recovery.

Love the open space and the instructors are very knowledgeable and fun. They not only give you a great work-​out but also focus on proper alignment and stretching. By far one of the best pilates studios I have been to.

Love me some Core Conditioning, Studio City!
The studio is always clean and maintained regularly installing new carpets, adding new machines or replacing parts on machines that have a lot of miles on them.
I can tell that a lot of care and thought has been put into the set up and facility. The faculty is knowledgeable and qualified, always very friendly.
Continued teacher trainings are happening all the time so that teachers can gain more and more skills to bring to their clientele. Teachers are focused on keeping students safe during exercises while continuing to challenge each individual student.
I have been going to Core for several years and I will be attending classes for years to come. I could easily purchase a reformer and work out at home by now, but the experience is one I enjoy each time and couldn’t duplicate elsewhere.

I have been going to Core for a couple of months now, and unfortunately for me I have 4 other facilities to compare them too!
I can not express strongly enough how amazing they all are there. I am working mostly with Ally and Ariana, but everyone there is so pleasant and knowledgeable. I feel like they are genuinely concerned and care about my injury, and working so hard to help me. The facility is amazing, equipped with state-​of-​the-​art equipment.
You are never rushed — they work with you individually stretching, massaging, manipulating, and generate exercises personalized for you. The instruction, the caring, and expertise of the therapists are what makes this place stand out.

Core becomes your best habit!

Probably the best kept secret of Studio City!

This review is for the Pilates mat class on Saturday mornings. I’ve only had one class so far, but I loved it and can’t wait to go back this Saturday. The teacher (Traci) was observant and made lots of corrections in a soothingly attentive way. She wanted to ensure we were doing the right thing as far as our breathing and body alignment were concerned.
If you’re used to the meditative quality of yoga, you might be surprised by the clinical nature of Pilates. It’s more geeky, and a lot less flowy than yoga;I mean this in a good way. There’s not a lot of sweating and heaving going on. But that’s not to say it’s not strenuous. My back, stomach and butt for a few days have felt like I hiked Runyon Canyon.
They also accept the KCRW Fringe Benefits card which entitles you to 15% off a single mat classes. Yay!

I had a sports injury last year which I was treated for (physical therapy) at Core Conditioning and Paula, my favorite therapist, was fabulous in helping me recover quickly. I liked that this place was all about treating the injury with pilates based exercise and massage.
Since completing my physical therapy, I have stayed around to take some of the Pilates Reformer classes and have found them to be awesome. I already do Yoga and other Cardio exercise but find that these Pilates classes are a great form of exercise to help strengthen and build muscle without having to do weight training (which I hate).
Unfortuantely they don’t offer many «Begining» classes (in my opionion) or night classes but if you can get in one, you will love it! Andrea & Elizabeth are super knowledgeable and great teachers. Be sure to get your name on the list in advance though because the classes are limited to 4 students so they fill up fast and unfortuantely the studio does not have an online tool to sign up for classes (something they really should consider).
