I loved meeting up with friends for breakfast here. There was something for everyone, from the vegan to the meat eater. Went here yesterday(Feb. 2, 2014) and they were closing up the place. Gone. Finished. Ka-put. Talked to the people working on clearing out the furnishings and they said it’s being remodeled into some restaurant/bar place. Boo!

This restaurant closed down last night. Surprised it lasted as long as it did…

MYFAVORITERESTAURANTINLOSANGELES! The 3 bean soup topped with fresh spinach is a MUST!!! If you go without getting the good earth iced tea, you are missing out! The nine veg sauté is also very good. Another favorite is the tofu scramble(I add mushrooms and for the side get half black beans/half rice pilaf). A VEGETARIANHEAVEN.

Isn’t it weird how the restaurants with the worst food have the largest dining rooms? This Good Earth feels like a gigantic cavern that was decorated in the ‘70s. The best thing on this menu is the Good Earth Iced Tea, with that unmistakable delicious zingy sweet flavor. The food is nothing to write home about. The last few times I’ve ordered here, I was not really impressed at all. The Cashew Chicken sandwich was dry and virtually tasteless. The Cashew Chicken Salad was blah. I haven’t eaten breakfast here but maybe that’s the way to go? They have valet parking, although street parking is readily available for free one block away. Metered parking available on Ventura Blvd.

I get breakfast here, I think I’ve only gotten non-breakfast ever, besides one time many years ago. You ever have that restaurant that you pretty much only ever go for *ONE* dish? Like it’s almost a specialty place for you, for s single item? I have that for GE. The chocolate chip pancakes are orgasm-inducing. I don’t know what they make them with, they’re not as heavy as regular pancakes. They have some kind of magic organic hippy bullshit, whatever they use at this place because they’re so ahead of the times. But I love them. They also serve some of the best orange juice I’ve ever had. The breakfast is good, I’ve been going almost once a month. The service generally stinks. The wait staff is slow and mostly absent/inattentive. But Im so used to it in Los Angeles that it’s almost not worth mentioning, and not so bad that I’d stop going. I’ll deal with it to get my insanely good pancakes. I like the ambience of the place. There’s trees and shit inside, and a big fountain. Wicker chairs. I kind of feel like I’m eating in a natural history museum or something. In fact, they should think about putting like a full size T Rex skeleton or something in the middle, it would be apropos. Speaking of dinosaurs, there is one amazing fact about this place, not sure how many people know: Jon Voight owns Good Earth, and is in there almost every day. I saw him the last two times in a row we went, which is really cool to see him in person.(Midnight Cowboy is one of my favorite movies) There seems to be a huge geriatric conglomerate of regulars here, and he stops and talks to a lot of the people, it’s really sweet. And I gotta say, the guy doesn’t look too bad for being in his 80s or whatever. He’s holding up. So there’s that, which can embellish your dining experience if you’re into shit like that. It’s cool, and it’s a fun place to take your mom when she’s in from out of town and go «Look, there’s Jon Voight.»

I thought this was something totally different… the name is misleading! The interior reminded me of an old Hawaiian buffet-style place and was not without the old biddies sitting in the wicker chairs. There’s an odd looking fountain in the middle of the very large room of tables and a kind of quietness that is unnerving. We ordered breakfast and the very nice waiter took our order and he was the only waiter working. The food took a while and there were only 5 tables seated in the dining area so the kitchen was very slow. The food was very good however and very affordable. I thought it was going to be a trendy health foodie type place. Healthy sure but trendy not so much! I would go back maybe when my parents are in town!

free valet, frendly staff. Location has an open airy feeling, water falls, large rocks in the floor and small trees and plants give the dinning area its natural feel. The menu has a good selection of vegitarian meals and an asortment of meat base meals too. I would recomend the mushroom, walnut, brockly cassarole or the planet burger for frist time vegitarians.

I used to love their Caesar salad but a couple times in a row now it was not good at all! Way too oily, no flavor. I let the kitchen know and last time I ordered a soup instead… no apologies, no comp. I am disappointed.

Roaming vegan foodie here. After doing the River Walk, the BF and I wanted to get a bite, within(you guessed it) walking distance. Pleased as punch to find out that GE is open until 10pm(and it’s a Wednesday)! Haven’t been here in years, since moving a few miles down the road. We ordered a Mediterranean pizza(eggplant, artichoke hearts, feta). To align with the Vegan quest, we requested that the feta and mozzarella cheeses be omitted. The pizza was delicious. seriously prepared and baked to perfection. Yummy thin crust and sublime veggie bits. Not oversauced, either. When you go to GE, if you like pizza, I highly recommend this creation. It’s flavorful and healthful. Acco to the menu, gluten free crust is available as well($ 2 upcharge). We also ordered Vegetable Curry. It comes with brown rice and salad or soup. The potato lentil soup has a coconut base and was very good. The curry was not remarkable. Interior ambience is welcoming. Amazon chic? The place is vast and has a few rock waterfalls, a terrarium and a pretty awesome mural on the north wall. Rattan furniture! Service was friendly and accommodating; no death stare from employees wincing when we walk in minutes before closing time. Several solo diners there, with laptops open on the table, I guess taking advantage of the free Wifi . Good Earth. good eats. good times

Consistently good vegetarian and vegan food! I always enjoy the Good Earth Restaurant. Was a regular when i lived just down the street. As a vegetarian, it is great to know that you will have great tasting options on the menu. My carnivore friends can find many options that include chicken or turkey too. The staff is always willing to make suggestions to help you to meet your dietary needs. My most recent visit, we had a 3 year old who the staff welcomed. We were seated next to the large decorative fountain in the middle of the restaurant. Our excited 3 year old made wishes and tossed pennies into the fountain. I’m sure that will be her memory of this wonderful restaurant.

Seemed like the reviews are pretty mixed on Unilocal. You either love this place or hate it. It was late, we were tired, we were hungry, so I figured why not just give it a try. Ambiance/Customer Service — The restaurant smelled like toilet bowl cleaner… I don’t know what was up with that, but it was a real turnoff. — For a restaurant called«The Good Earth» why are they using disposable napkins and paper placemats? — The older gentlemen/host at the front desk was NOT friendly at all… I actually almost wanted to walk out. My husband has a gluten allergy(he is a Celiac) and the man says«we have nothing gluten free»…I’m like, huh??? Your menu lists gluten free pizza AND a gluten free quinoa salad. !!! I seriously wanted to walk out, but husband was willing to give it a try so we stayed. — The waitress was kind and attentive. Food — I had the Quinoa salad with the balsamic glaze on the side. It was delicious. I really enjoyed it and you do not need that glaze at all. Much healthier without it. I also had one of the rolls with some of their homemade applesauce. It was pretty good… different, but good. — My husband tried the gluten free pizza. It was just okay. I tasted the crust… it wasn’t bad, but the sauce was just kind of blah. Overall I would probably give this place 3 stars for the food and 2 stars for the host. Because customer service and attentiveness is so important to me, I gave it a 2. I would go back again to give it another try because I really did like that salad. Admittedly, I could probably make the same thing at home and save a lot of money!

I can’t say that I’m a big fan of Good Earth. Like Hugo’s Restaurant(also in Studio City), Good Earth presents itself as an ideal location for those looking for vegan, vegetarian, organic and ‘locally sourced’ food. It’s the sort of place one goes to make a statement about saving the planet and the like. This review, however, is based on the merits of the food as a consumption item. To that end, I can’t say I was very happy with my meal. It was bland and tasteless and I didn’t feel inclined to finish it. Which is sad, because starving children in Africa, am I right? Now, I don’t know if this can be chalked up to their limitations as a vegan/vegetarian-friendly place OR if they’re just not very good, but — either way — if you’re looking for something that actually tastes good(rather than meeting certain criteria for social responsibility or whatever), you may be disappointed. I’ll probably give it another go one day and update my review if it was just a fluke. As an aside: I found it kind of amusing that they offer disposable paper napkins to diners. I’m not sure how that fits into the«earthy» vibe, and one must wonder if it’s tree-hugging gone astray.

The only thing I’ve tried here is their banana/coconut/pineapple smoothie. My girlfriend and I have gone here twice together. A soup, salad(with bread, butter and a tub of applesauce with raisins(I think to mix with the butter and put on the bread), and two smoothies came to around $ 18. It’s not too expensive but it’s not that cheap either. I love the smoothie!

Paid a visit this week for the first time in about a year. Ordered the signature Good Earth burrito. Looked like something that might be put in a dog bowl. What a mess. Just thrown on the plate in a sloppy heap. Practically no cheese on it. Not much sauce. Beans spilling out. Looked very unappetizing. The taste was bland. The guacamole on top was the only saving grace but no better than ordinary. Such a shame. At one time, they consistently served good fare. Now it is obvious ownership no longer cares what gets dished up or how the food is presented. Lots of better options in the area. Dine elsewhere.

Fluffy cardboard would be how I can only describe the wheat pancakes here. No, it doesn’t have to be that way but that was how it went down. Sure, the vegetarian scramble was some what hearty, but it was still less exciting than the home shopping network or 6 hour long vintage car auction on TV. This place was empty, slow and the food was a complete lackluster. Everything seems to be less than mediocre. Moreover, the wait time for the food was undesirable especially when the restaurant was pretty much empty and had very few parties.

I just don’t understand why Good Earth Restaurant closed so many of its locations throughout California; the management told me that the Studio City location is owned and operated by a private owner. Inside the restaurant needs updated renovation, but the food is still the same quality; the spice tea is still my favorite. Also, Good Earth Restaurant offers free parking for its guests.

Went to Good Earth for the first time today after YEARS of driving by it. Glad I did. I was really surprised that it wasn’t busier, as it was a Sunday at 10 am. I mean, the food was really good and our sweet waitress was just that, sweet. The coffee was good and frequently re-filled. They also offer free valet and metered street parking(Free on Sunday). I’m not a vegetarian or vegan, and I don’t have any allergies, so I can’t poo-poo on this place for not being gluten-free/kosher/blah blah. I didn’t see or read anything that made me think that they were advertising themselves as such. I had the Greek Scramble and Banana Walnut Pancakes. I REALLY liked both. My two gal pals ordered the Spinach Omelette and Blueberry Pancakes and they raved about their food. Service was prompt and attentive and the price was just right($ 14 each). I am already planning my return!

It has been awhile since I went here but I guess I never got around to posting my review. The server was named Austin and he was quite friendly and helpful. 5 stars to him for great service. I had the spinach and cream cheese omelet and at Austin’s recommendation the 10 grain pancakes. I have to say, those were some damn fine pancakes. I do not normally eat pancakes, but I am glad I decided to give these a try. They were excellent. So thanks Austin for not steering us wrong. The omelet was pretty good, but I recommend ordering it with light cream cheese. If they give the normal amount it wold probably be too much. I would definitely come here again some time. I don’t know how healthy it really is, so it is not somewhere I would go all that frequently, but once in a while would be good.

I don’t get this restaurant. Well, I can’t figure it out is more like it. I don’t know exactly what it wants to be, but then again, maybe it’s just being itself and doesn’t apologize for it? Regardless of its personality disorder, I have never disliked a meal from here. It’s more of a lunch fare type of place, but it is open for breakfast and dinner. The staff is very Denny’s, but the food isn’t. The salads are fresh and plentiful(I recently had one with avocado, mushrooms, sundried tomato, kalamata olives, and feta), as well as affordable(under $ 9 if you don’t add chicken). I am not into the bread/butter and applesauce thing they bring out, as it reminds me of a side that would come with a meal at an old folk’s home. But it’s complimentary, so if you’re starving, it’s a nice buffer before your entrée. The service is barely there, but the plates are cleared and the water refilled without having to ask. Again, I am at a loss. Don’t go to this place for ambiance, just if you’re in the mood for some good food and you’re in the hood.

The Good Earth is one of my favorite restaurants in Studio City. I have eaten there on several occassions, and have always enjoyed my meals. The staff is really friendly and helpful. And the décor and decorations are really nice and inviting. Its a place you want to hang out at for hours. Very peaceful restaurant. I always enjoy people watching while I am there. The customers seem to be really cool and layed back. The last time I went, I had breakfast. An Original Joes — eggs with turkey sausage, mushrooms and spinach. toast and potatoes. And a glass of Passion Fruit Iced Tea. A very filling and satisfying meal, and at the same time healthy.
