Let the people who THINK they’re hip have Amoeba. The really hip go to Heavy Rotation. Vivian and Pete are the best kind of storeowners — a real mom-​and-​pop who care about their customers. It’s personal, like all great mom-​and-​pop stores are. And their prices on DVDs cannot be beat anywhere — certainly not by Amoeba and not even online. I visit often, and I rarely leave empty-​handed.

This place is like a second home to me! One because, well, I used to work there, but also because you feel like you are walking into your favorite dysfunctional hysterical uncle’s house for storytime galore.
Pete is the owner (and by far the funniest guy on Ventura Blvd) and can that guy tell a tale. Vivian is his lovely wife and the two of them are just great. Not to mention the cast of characters they have working there. OY, the stories I could tell ya.
There are plenty of celebs that frequent the joint, in fact back in the day when I worked there Marty Feldman asked me out! Great if you have a grandpa fetish, but that was sooooo ’93. But yeah, you will see an occasional familiar face and the selection of goods is AWESOME. Plus if you are looking to sell your discs, they buy CD’s for a very fair price!
They are right across from The Good Earth and there is a new nail salon that just opened next door, so hey, git u some healthy grub, get yur nails did and grab a great CD for the ride home.
