Specialties
I offer private in-home lessons, behavioral modification, and relationship building for you and your dog. Taking a holistic approach means that I work with you and your dog based on your total relationship, including your physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs. Having worked with thousands of dogs of all types, ages, and backgrounds, I bring a level of expertise to my work that allows me to accurately assess your needs and design a custom program just for you.
I also have over 8 years of experience working in Animal-Assisted Therapy, both in visiting facilities with my own dog and in directing a program which trained and certified many dogs and their handlers to visit facilities. If you are interested in this type of work, I can help you prepare for certification and can point you in the direction of a facility that needs you.
In another desire to give back to the community, I am now offering free Bite Prevention Presentations to local schools and communities.
History
Established in 2012.
My professional career with dogs began as a Puppy Raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I volunteered with the organization while I studied Exercise Science and Health at Ithaca College. Through this experience I developed my puppy-raising skills to help dog owners to realize the potential of every dog to learn confidence in social situations, patience, and the ability to think and make decisions. Upon graduating, I worked at a grooming salon in Delmar, NY, helping clients to learn how to properly care for their dog’s hygiene.
In 2005 I relocated to Los Angeles and helped to develop a five-star hotel and training facility for dogs. For 6 years I managed the facility, in addition to conducting Private Lessons, Group Classes, overseeing In Kennel Training, and monitoring the health and well being of all dogs in our care. Through my experiences at this facility I became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and had the opportunity to train thousands of dogs from all walks of life.
