I love this place. The staff is always helpful. Great selection of treats and food. It’s cramped inside but they have good prices.

Not sure what happened. My dog is a snuggler. Dropped him off for only two hours for grooming. Picked him up, lays in the back seat since when? He is a front seat lap dog! Brought him home, acted strange. Wouldn’t eat and when we tried to play, ran to another room to get away from us. Sulky and depressed. He has never acted this way. Won’t accept treats, just sulky after 8 house still! Not sure what happened, but won’t be returning. Sigh…-1

Basically I like the store and the people are helpful enough. I did buy a gate there that I asked if it didn’t work (our dog is a little Houdini) if I could return it and he said yes. I had to end up returning it because it wasn’t tall enough for our little «circus» dog and they said it was only store credit I wish I would’ve known that initially because I could’ve just waited for a taller gate from Amazon which I could return anytime for cash back. I will definitely be using the store credit on our pups so not too bit of a deal.

This place deserves NO STARS… my dog got fleas so i rushed to take him to the closest pet store and rusty’s came up, plus i had seen this place as i drive down the blvd on the daily. They gave him a flea bath, the guy wrote $ 24 on the paper and when he took our card he’s like oh no it’s actually $ 28. We still paid, left him there. they said they would call when he was ready. but said it would take about 2hrs… my bf picks him up in that time frame since they never bothered to call… when he was in the car on the way back home, he was whinning and crying because his eye was hurting, when i get in the car i freak out… his whole eye is swollen and closed and he kept crying… thats my baby of course i freaked out. my bf rinsed off his eye and said there was stuff inside, obviously from whatever they bathe him in, i took him over there and they rinsed it out & gave me some eye drops. the manager said that maybe my dogs is going blind, WTF like dude he’s only 2 yrs old. it was their fault they’re so careless they let shampoo go in his eyes… especially if its shampoo to kill fleas… why would you let that happen to the dogs… i was so pissed and the manager is like ill make a note for next time.,…are u kidding me… there won’t be a next time. especially after his eye is still swollen and he can’t even open it… this place is shady!!! Avoid if you love your pet!

Amazing service and lots of options. They will also custom order foods that arrive pretty quickly. The best prices I have found too.

Took my dog there to get groomed and was told my car would be towed if I went across the street to eat while my dog was getting washed. I explained that I should be able to leave my car there since I was doing business at the location. I was told again that my car would be towed if I left the premises.
Not a good way to get repeat business.

They have alright prices. (The prices are Better online and in other stores in the valley) But the attitude the owner has and lack of customer service is atrocious. I am all about supporting local businesses but when the owner has such a terrible attitude it’s really hard to continue wanting to support them. I will not be back and I will be telling all my friends at the dog park about my experience.
My friends choose to go to Global Pet Food Outlet over Rusty’s (I guess I know why now!) and I will be doing to same!

Brought my pug here for the first time and I am so happy I did! They have his food I typically feed him and it’s a one stop shop! Employees are extremely helpful and knowledgable! I will definitely be back here for all my pet care needs!!!

Staff is extremely friendly and will spend much time with you until you are satisfied. The manager is very knowledgeable and will search products for you until he finds something that satisfies you. This is a must try, plus they have a great deal on dog food, you buy ten bags and get the next one free.

This place is great! As a dog trainer, I go to pet supply stores about every week. I love Rusty’s. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always eager to help. There is definitely a neighborhood feel to this place and you can tell that they genuinely love pets. If you go to the big box stores, they usually have no idea what you’re talking about if you’re looking for a specific item. You won’t find that here! Four paws up for Rusty’s!

What can I say Rusty’s is just a fantastic pet store! I love that it is independently owned & everyone who works there is beyond helpful and nice. The owner is there a lot as well as Rusty, the sweet and gorgeous mascot collie dog :)The selection is great and there is a price range for everyone. They even do rewards programs for certain brands and there are always sales and deals. I would never go back to a chain pet store. All pet owners need to check this place out! Amazing service, employees are always so kind, willing to help. Owner and his dog hang out often there making sure things are all running smoothly. Got my kitty cats lots of food and toys for great prices. Meooooow
I love family owned, small businesses such as this!

They hog up the entire parking lot and if you come to eat at Katsura-​ya, you have no choice but to valet. Every other space is toe away for rusty’s only.
They have a very cramped store with everything sort of hat squeezed in. The selection is fine, it is the execution that is lacking.

This place has consistently disappointed me. When I called to ask if they carried a specific brand of cat food, they told me yes, but when I came there, they only had dog food in that brand. I checked out their selection of soft cat foods and the prices were way higher than average, so I didn’t buy any. The next time I came in was for crystal cat litter but they only carried one brand and it was not only much smaller but twice what I normally pay ($ 20 for less than 5lbs of cat litter).
I’m only giving this place a second star because I love that Rusty is a real dog that hangs around the store and is very charming.

I work in Van Nuys, live in Arcadia, and i still go out of my way to come here! My Bichon and he loves these bones they have that are wrapped in beef jerky!

Great place, they have everything we can’t find anywhere else. Large AstroTurf outdoor dog pee boxes when literally every other store was sold out. Reasonably priced harness in all different sizes and types, yep. She goes there regularly to get her nails trimmed for only six bucks too, and they give a small bag of treats for her discomfort. We are there about twice a month. Parking is always good but it can be an awkward lot to get in and out of because it’s right off of busy Ventura.
Update: rushed Kansas in there when she got fleas from a house with two dogs, they got her in ASAP on a busy Saturday and it was around twenty bucks. They’re also super fast to help and it’s always the same group of employees who are definitely dog lovers: they always remember Kansas. Of course, she did knock over their display rack one day but they were very nice about that too.

So I have been going here until recently, weekly actually (spending a LOT of dough).
No more. Last week I bought more Party Animal dog food (around $ 2.50 a can) and after decided to go to the sushi place next door. The valet guy went to the store manager to rat on me and the store manager told him to tell me to move my car! REALLY?!! I’ve been going to you for months now and I need to valet my car to visit another business in the same little mall? Because of the managers attitude in handling this I will NEVER return. I went back in to return the case of dog food I had just bought. I had never seen that manager before (petite skinny latino guy I think). I can say though that the other guys who work there have ALWAYS been super nice to me and helpful. Will be sad to not see them again.
I now go to Global Pet Food Outlet where the same can of Party Animal dog food only costs, GET THIS…99 cents!!! I guess when one door closes a better one can open. My new spot is a bit further on Sepulveda but worth the drive because of the super low prices.
