Old Sturbridge Inn & Reeder Family Lodges

I recently had to go to a convention in the area and that hotel lost my reservation. I looked on Unilocal and the reviews for that hotel were awful anyway so I searched some more and found this lovely place.
While it is not a hotel and more like a motel, I loved it. It was located across the street from convention site so it was convenient. The rooms were pretty large and the price was way better than the convention site was offering.
I was here in the spring time (and during a surprise April snow storm and cold snap) but I would love to come back and visit again. The grounds were well kept, they had a cute little continental breakfast, they have an outdoor pool that looked like fun, and they were really close to Sturbridge Village (walking distance in fact).

This hotel reopened a couple of years ago after being closed for several years. What a transformation! This is the nicest «new» old hotel in the area. I have been staying here since it reopened and I love it!
The rooms are huge. The beds are super comfortable. The entire facility is as clean as it gets in a hotel. They have great staff that are so pleasant and always willing to help and please. There is a free continental breakfast in the mornings. The wifi is strong and works well. The grounds are kept up beautifully including lovely flowers every season. Sure you can go to a chain hotel and be just another customer, but here you are a GUEST and they treat you as such. Skip the chain hotels and give this one a try and you will be delighted. This hotel is a gem and a throwback to the days when hotels valued you as a customer. I love staying here every Brimfield week and plan to continue being a guest here for a long time.

Stayed here on a Sunday night. The room was great! Large, very clean, 2 double beds and the price is right! I thought it might be noisy being near route 20, but not at all — and our unit was even closest to the road. Playground and smallish outdoor pool perfect for a quick dip.
My only 2 cons would be that the beds were not queen sized even though the room is certainly big enough for them, and I wish the bathroom had a door on it to the sink area as well as the toilet area for those getting up in the middle of the night… although these are not enough to drop it a star. All and all a great place!

Stayed in the Oliver Wight House over the weekend for a wedding. Our first floor room had a huge old fireplace, and a big comfortable four post bed. Pretty amazing room for money. Room and facilities were clean and seemed recently renovated. The staff was friendly and nice. We had a situation where our room was way too warm and the staff brought fans to our room.

Easy to find, very clean, very comfy beds and pillows and nice staff. I’m glad I found this place on
. I would definitely stay here again.

This place was great, it just missed getting 5 stars by a fraction of a hair.
For a place not in the city with glitzy granite or marble fixtures, this is the nicest room you will find in a suburban or rural setting. We had a room with two double beds and the size of the room was large, recently updated with a New England look. There was a desk and chair as well as a sitting chair to read. A small dresser was ample, in fact I never really use dressers in hotels and on top of the dresser was a flat screen TV. I felt like I walked in to someone’s new home and not a motel room when I opened the door.
Did I say the place looked clean, about the cleanest looking place you will find but mind you I didn’t send swabs to the lab.
There was free Wifi that worked flawlessly.
The bathroom… interesting set up, you walk in an open doorway and to the right is a closet with a safe. Straight ahead is the counter with two sinks… clean and new fixtures. Two sinks is always goo with multiple people in the room.
To the left was a door separating the bath tub/​shower and toilet from the rest of the bathroom… also good so one person can shave while another is in the shower. The only draw back was that the bath/​toilet area was real small. The tub was large, but maneuvering in the space was difficult… mind you on an insurance chart I am about 75 lbs over weight and had I been 40 or 50 lbs less I might have felt more comfortable but it was a small space… kind of like on a cruise ship.
I’ve been to a lot of places from cruise ships to fancy joints in the city to Amish farms… this one one of the nicest places we have ever been. There was an outdoor pool and play ground area that was new and well kept, my son enjoyed it immensely.
The office was also clean and recently refurbished with a classic New England look. The staff was more than helpful and friendly. There was a complimentary breakfast that was simple but did the job. My only complaint was the eating area was a little small when there were a lot of people at once, but it all worked out.
The hotel was close to the main road but set far enough back that you didn’t hear traffic. There are ample places to eat with excellent comfort food within a 5 minute drive.
Historic Sturbridge Village is a stone’s throw away and it was fun and educational for my son, one of our best vacations ever!
I really don’t think anyone from a couple looking for a romantic New England getaway to a family visiting Sturbridge to grandparents keeping busy will be disappointed in this place. I would love to find a reason to go back.

This place is amazingly comfortable and amazingly affordable ($ 87/​night). Beds were great, people were friendly, location was perfect. Very, very pleased.

. Just one night while visiting friends. Lady at check in was super friendly. Room was big and while not my style (county…kind of goes with area) was very clean and looked recently remodeled. Very comfortable beds. Very close to the highway too.
