I-94 Self Storage

I-​94 Storage has 2 locations. I was in the Franksville location. I had been there for years, when the owners sold to I-​94 Storage. I-​94 Storage promptly doubled the rent and did little else. The worker I dealt with was accommodating enough, but the facilities are poor and management apparently doesn’t care. My boat was broken into and damaged. The damage exceeded $ 3,000. I met with police and filed a police report which is how I learned that the surveillance system did not work. Therefore no idea of when the break in occurred and no pictures of the perpetrators. If you rent there, ask to see the videos. And make sure it covers the space you are renting. Make sure the videos are current. Some other tenant reported damage to their car the week before. Furthermore, the outside gate had a gap in it that anyone could enter. One year after this event, I drove by and took pictures. There was still a large gap. The outdoor storage area is overgrown with weeds, no clear marking of your space, junk vehicles everywhere. Looks like a junkyard. The owners prior to I-​94 Storage took care of the property. I asked the new owner to give me back the unused prepaid rent as my boat was now in the shop. He did. I also asked him to fix up his facility. He didn’t. Thats it. He did nothing else for me. A year later, the facility looked basically unchanged. Weeds, junk vehicles, gap in gate. There are cleaner, less expensive places in the area. I cannot comment on the Sturtevant facilities, but my comment on ownership should pretty much answer any questions you might have. Find another storage facility. By the way, I have police reports, plenty of photos, and documentation to back up all of this. One other thing. Favorable reviews of any storage facility mean nothing unless the reviewer has actually verified the security advertised. This usually only happens AFTER you have had a break in. Otherwise what is there to say? «They cashed my check and my stuff was undisturbed?» Who cares! You were lucky. You are paying for some element of security!
