This large and very impressive memorial was dedicated on January 1, 2003 in honor of Suffield’s veterans of all American Wars. To me, it was absolutely stunning to see the names of veterans represented from across all of the decades and centuries of American history. This memorial lists the veterans of each war from the French and Indian War all the way up to the Persian Gulf War. The vets from the decades in between those wars served in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish War, WW I, WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. To see the unbroken line of patriotism and sacrifice running from the 1750s to today is inspiring The stone memorial is huge; I’d say about 20 feet tall. It’s a hexagonal shape engraved on all six sides. Some of the names are on two large bronzed plaques and some of he names are engraved into the stone column. There is a soaring eagle perched on top of the monument where an inscription reads: INHONOROFTHEMENANDWOMENOFSUFFIELDWHOSERVEDINOURARMEDFORCESINTHETIMEOFWAR
