We had Coastal Hankla do a complete a/c installation in our house. After that we used them for our a/c service. One May, we had them do the annual routine check and everything was ok. Two weeks later we left for Florida. While gone, our neighbor noticed water dripping from the a/c backup hose. The neighbor went into the attic to clear the line. The blockage was near the indoor coils just before the viewing pipe. He blew out the pipe with his mouth and released the blockage. There was a water leak that dripped in my daughter’s bedroom, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I called Coastal while we were in Florida to have them recheck everything. The guy that checked our a/c two weeks earlier and the owner went to our house. The technician did a lot of lying. He told the owner he had blown out the line during the inspection, which was a lie(I was there). The owner stated we had a blockage in the piping further down the line and needed to call a plumber. I told him that’s not true because my neighbor was able to see the blockage. When we got back from Florida, we received a bill from Coastal for $ 100! I called the owner and he would not budge saying his technician did everything right. I paid the bill and told the owner goodbye. For the record, we have not had anymore blockage since the day my neighbor was able to blow it clear, so the blockage wasn’t «further in the pipe.» We started using another a/c company and the first time the guy came out he pointed out some issues with the Coastal installation. There were several unsealed gaps in the venting system which were hidden from my view, but visible during the inspection. We’re talking about 1 inch gaps! I was basically cooling my attic from one big leak and also sucking in dust from the attic from another leak. I tell all my neighbors not to use Coastal.
