I am not sure why all the negativities from that person I have experienced the best service and friendly staff from aquatics .they are very knowledgeable and friendly from Sean to Angel to Megan to Ashley n Randy… I had back pain went in for a few treatments. therapists showed me a few moves. front office staffs took care of all billings virtually and literally pain free experience thank you first colony aquatics. Keep up the awesomeness.

I had a really bad experience at First Colony Aquatic & Rehab Center Jan 2016. The sad part was this is my 2^nd time coming back. I have a sciatic nerve problem due to my pregnancy. I was here in 2012 with Meagan & Sean. It was a great and that’s why I decided to come back. However the 2^nd time was a disaster, horrible experience, and extremely unprofessional.
Please be very careful when it comes to billing at this location. I know alot people never check what doctor office charges to their insurance but at this location you have to be careful. I see many elderly people and I am pretty sure this place milks the insurance. Ashley the front desk/​billing is unprofessional and rude. Especially when you questions about the charges. Any doctors office you go to, a patients has the right to ask about the charges and the cost before or after the services. My advice is to ask before you attend the service. Ashley was only nice in the beginning and wanting to verify your insurance. Once you start asking question her tone start change. The more questions, the irritated she becomes. The rudeness starts to come out. Obviously Ashley does not like patient asking her questions. My insurance plan starts from April 1 and ends March 30. I already meet my deductible for the year and all i need is to pay the 20%. Ashley was trying to charge a new deductible thinking its a new year. Instead of admitting she mess up or calm her attitude down. She continues to talk down to me and claiming she is right. I had my insurance Aetna called and explain to her that i do have a roll over and it is in process. Ashley was trying to be a Ms. Know It All, telling me that she will file my claim in 80 to 90 days. In my mind I still wanted to see the physical therapy due to the experience i had last time. When I arrived to my appt. the front desk greeted me and was already expecting me (forgot her name). I ask her are you Ashley she said no but Ashley told me what had happen. I felt like Ashley told her more than she needed to know. Once again this new front desk tried to explained to me about the deductible again like i was a child. Than I saw Tyler the physical therapist, my experience was Tyler I can not say it’s great or horrible. Very causal. My experience with Meagan and Shawn in 2012 was different. He kept the conversation simple and minimal talking. I expected more. I am 5 months pregnant and I was in pain. At first I was not sure if Ashley said anything until towards the end of the session when Tyler was trying to schedule my next appt. Tyler said we can book once or twice a week, it depends on your discretion on how you want to pay. Once he said that, I knew Ashley had already said something to Tyler. Basically Ashley decided to tell everyone that I had to encounter on how difficult I was, which cause me not to have proper treatment and not returning back. I had file a complaint on Ashley to Sheila Ritter — Patient & Physician Liaison. Hopefully Shelia spoken to Ashley about her professionalism, rudeness and how to talk to patients on the phone. I hope no one has to go through what i had went through. And I hope this review will changes thing around. Maybe the STATE, BBB, or insurance companies should take a look in auditing on how they bill their patients.

I will never go back to First Colony Aquatic & Rehab Center and none of my extended family will. I had to have serious back surgery after going to them with a normal lower back pain. It should never have been needed. I had never had leg pain but the day after one session with Sean, the owner, and doing the exercises he prescribed for my lower back pain, I had excruciating pain down my right leg and across the top of my right foot. I called Sean, told him of my tremendous pain and that the exercises he prescribed were completely counter to Robin McKenzie’s, the world renown and widely followed physical therapist, teachings and books. Sean heard me clearly, we discussed it, but he was insistent. He told me to continue with what he prescribed, the same number of repetitions and exercises, but not to over push, which I had not done. I did them one more time but knew something was SERIOUSLY wrong so I stopped. The next day, Saturday, I awoke and had the same pain but now I had foot-​drop!!! Wow. Strength in my right foot was gone and I couldn’t lift my foot! I went back to Sean on Monday and he noticed the foot drop right away. He looked like a deer in the headlights and didn’t respond as I told him that the extreme number of flexion exercises/​repetitions he prescribed, with explicit instructions ‘NOT’ to do ‘extension’ exercises with them, which is 100% counter to Robin McKenzie’s teachings, caused a back problem that resulted in my pain and foot drop. He tried 4 – 5 exercises and tested my foot strength in between each before conceding he had no answers for the foot drop. He then asked if I’d be willing to try a ‘dry needling’ therapy. I had no idea what it was but I was desperate and he had another therapist, a nice gal, try it. It did nothing but cost me more. Two days later, because of the tremendous pain and foot drop, I visited a back surgeon and an MRI was performed. It clearly showed that a chunk of a lower back disk had squirted out and was lodged in my spinal column, impinging on my nerves and causing the foot drop and pain. My wife and I saw the large chunk in my spinal canal clearly on the MRI. The extreme number of ‘flexion’ exercises, that bend the back in a highly stressed way, without doing compensating ‘extension’ exercises, which I was explicitly told by Sean ‘NOT’ to do, no doubt caused the rupture. I was cautioned by the doctor that the nerve was damaged by the disk rupture and that the foot drop could possibly be permanent! The sooner the pressure was relieved the better my chances. I had the surgery, the pain is gone, but the foot drop remains, sadly. I am hoping that time will help, based on opinions of a couple of doctors that it can sometimes take several months, but I’ll never go near First Colony Aquatic & Rehab again. Has Sean called to ask how I’m doing? No. One of his desk gals called three weeks later to ask if they could schedule another appointment, I’m sure on a routine ‘review the schedule’ exercise, but Sean has shown zero interest.

I would tell anyone who needed help to go to First Colony Aquatic & Rehab. They are caring and listen. I have had to return to them twice for different reasons and they remembered me and treated me 1.5 yrs later as if it had only been a couple weeks. It’s like making friends for life.
Evaluations are thorough and they will increase or decrease your exercises as needed depending on how your feel. Every therapist has a great since of humor on top of being completely professional.
If you need pool therapy. the water is perfect every time. There knowledge and training never stops, so you can always guarantee, top notch therapy.

Just recently started Aqua Therapy @ First Colony Aquatic and Rehabilitation Center. Like that each person working with patients is a licensed Physical Therapist, not techs. Facility and pool are clean. Water temperature was perfect for therapy. My initial evaluation was thorough and I was given simple exercises to do at home. Finally I’ve been assigned two physical therapists who will be the only ones to work with me. No one else. Everyone there was professional and polite. Aquatic and Rehabilitation Therapy is their only focus, so that’s what they’re best at. Highly recommend.
