My daughter and I frequent this establishment every Sunday. We love the fact it’s not overly crowded plus, they know us by name and treat my daughter like royalty. As you can imagine, an 11 year old isn’t into sophisticated breakfasts so, what they have to offer is perfect for her palate(and mine). The omelets are always perfect(and made to order) and everything at the buffet is fresh. Now, if you’re into crepes, eggs benedict or salmon with cream cheese, this ain’t the place for you. This is a traditional buffet where you can carry on a decent conversation, get a meal at a competitive price and be treated EXTREMELY well,.

This restaurant needs to be re done. For such a nice hotel to have such a mediocre restaurant is a shame. Needs more to the fla b or

I don’t get what Marriott is doing or wanting to do with the Burning Pear. Food/Restaruant: Avoid this like the plague. There’s not enough people to run the restaurant. Bar: They have the same bartenders that have worked since I’ve been going to the Sugar Land Town Centre 6 years ago and it’s not good. The bar is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Great place to work, hang out, visit with friend and have drinks while doing all the above. Again this is Sugar Land and as I’ve reviewed before on Sugar Land establishments, great service is hard to obtain in this suburban area. ~ «No need to wedding crash to hit your local hotel bar».

You’d think the name Burning Pear would indicate some trendy lounge — maybe with an eponymous drink made with some top shelf tequila and a pear. Or something. Instead, this restaurant is basically a hotel restaurant with some«Texas style»(meaning huge portions and unhealthy) food. Went for lunch and was unimpressed. Bad sign when waitress can’t recommend either of your first two suggestions. Had a chicken wrap with overlooked meat and not a lot of flavor. Can’t really recommend as a lunch place. Friendly staff, though. Wish they didn’t have such a cool and deceiving name.

Pleasantly surprised, charming Texas cuisine inside the Marriott Hotel. Waiter said a new chef and new menu coming out next week.

This is more like a 2.5 rating… This was our first visit. We enjoyed the dining experience due to the impeccable service and the atmosphere. However, the food did not live up to the high marks that Burning Pear was supposed to have. Their famous pork chop was extremely tough, my daughter could only eat a few bites. The tenderloin was EXCELLENT there wasn’t a bite left on my boyfriend’s plate. My redfish was blackened in too much salty seasoning and further smothered with a over-salted sauce. I could not even taste the fish. The sides were so-so, we left most of those untouched as well. Cornbread was wonderful! The apple strudel(?) with icecream was over-microwaved and parts of it were to hard to chew. OVERALL: Again, due to the fact, we were celebrating an occasion and just glad to be dining out. and the waiter/staff were ALL wonderful… this was a 2.5 star night. Will I be back? Yes… maybe. but next time I will kindly send my salty food back or better yet… I will take advantage of their the Happy Hour and their ½ price appetizers!

This was my second time for brunch here. The first time was two years ago and it was really good. This time, Easter Sunday, was not very good at all. For $ 32. per person I expect there to be fresh waffles and better tasting food and mimosas. This was my last eating experience at The Burning Pear.

The place was empty but the service was very good. our waitress was Perlyn and she was an endearing, sweet lady! we ordered the chicken wings, a chicken quesadilla, and the chicken fried steak. The wings and quesadilla were the best. the tortilla for the quesadilla had different herbs and tasted more like a fancy cracker. it was perfect and the best i ever had. prices are good when you come during their happy hour.

I had to write this review just to describe how amazing the porterhouse pork chop is. It is by far the best pork chop I have ever tasted. It taste like it was smoked with apple wood and has a very flavorful glaze. Not to mention that it was cooked to perfection. No overcooked pork here. It was also served with tasty mashed potatoes with some kind of delicious mustard sauce. You can not go to this restaurant without having this dish.

There isn’t much I can say except AWFUL. Awful service, awful food, and expensive. I’m so surprised this place is still in business(probably because they are associated with the hotel). The food is overpriced and badly done. I drive through town center quite often, and I can’t remember the last time I actually saw someone inside the restaurant. I think it’s awful everything has caught up with it. The hotel has to have a good restaurant, so hopefully they get it together and make one! There aren’t enough nice places to eat in SL, please fix this one!

I was disappointed in this venue during both of my visits. Quite simply, it appears the restaurant is the invisible child of the Marriott Hotel in which it resides. I originally targeted this establishment as a place for lunchtime business entertainment, however twice, I experienced consistently poor service. My last visit was actually comedic. The place was empty. My business guest and I shared the entire dining room for about 45 minutes, until a family of four with three very young, tired children decided to dine with us. The children were well behaved and were being«children.» Why the hostess decided to place the family right next to us when the entire place was empty was very odd. Needless to say, my business meeting ended quite soon after. Perhaps I am spoiled, because I assume people who work in the hospitality industry recognize a business lunch when they see it, and know how to service the table in a subtle and different manner than if they’re serving people who are headed to the airport, are on vacation or just out with the family Apparently at this establishment, training of this sort isn’t the norm. Would I go back and give the Burning Pear a third chance? Not a chance. If anyone from the Marriott Corporation actually reads this review, I will suggest to you, and I am sure my comments clearly indicate, this restaurant does nothing to promote your brand.

I have to agree with the first reviewer, Vinod V., that the service is iffy. I’ve visited the restaurant twice on a weekday for lunch and service was slow and inattentive. The restaurant is arranged in a weird way where it’s right next to a lobby area, there isn’t a podium w/a hostess, and there’s a huge wall/pillar by the entrance so a server may not see you. I would recommend walking over near the bar to get someone’s attention if necessary. The food, however, is wonderful. Their portions are large, which I think makes the prices reasonable. I was surprised that a hotel restaurant in Sugar Land would have such great food. I would highly recommend their Country/Chicken Fried Steak(one of the best in Houston, I think) and Pork Chop entrees. I think their gumbo is one of the tops that I’ve had — it has shrimp and scallops(no sausage) in it and is not so spicy as to overwhelm the rest of the flavors. While the service is inconsistent, I believe their food to be good enough to go back.
