Wonderful experience! Arrived on time at the pick up and drop off locations. Only took about 15 minutes to drop off. Very kind staff and highly recommend! Piano in perfect condition.

This company is very disorganized. I am getting my piano moved as I write this review and I’ve had nothing but trouble with them. I’ve had to email constantly in order to get updates on their delivery time. I am less than a week away from delivery and I still don’t know when it will happen. According to them I will know 1 – 2 days before delivery when it will actually happen. That’s unacceptable.

Tremendously professional movers on both ends. Fast and efficient. Proper equipment, different from standard moving trolleys, that treated my piano like a precious and valuable item, which it is to me!
Don’t hesitate to spend the extra amount to have your piano moved by these specific professionals, rather than by your general movers.

I found this company online and read the great reviews. I had a family piano that we lovingly had restored at quite an expense a few years ago and wanted to move it from NJ to our home in CA. Modern Piano Moving did not disappoint. From the easy and efficient booking of the move with price quotes and timeframes to the prompt communications during the pick up and delivery to the great care during the physical move, Modern Piano Moving more than exceeded our expectations. We were not in a hurry so that did help but they were very timely and picked up and delivered well within the time frames estimated. The 2 guys who actually arrived at my door were very friendly and more than accommodating. Thank you, Modern Piano. My family Vose & Sons made in Boston in 1904 and on which both my sister and I and my daughter played for many years now sits happily in our home across the country!

Modern Piano just moved my great grandmother’s antique upright piano from Illinois to Massachusetts and I couldn’t be happier. Once the piano was picked up in Illinois, I had it in Mass. about 1.5 weeks later (much faster than I anticipated).
The movers were gentle and took great care in keeping both the piano and the house free of damage.
I highly recommend going with Modern, as they specialize in moving pianos as opposed to other companies that may not know how to care for them properly.

They moved our piano from Dallas to Houston. They were upfront about costs and timing and the staff were as nice as they come. I hope to never have to move a piano again, but if I do, I will definitely look for them!

Can’t say enough positive about how Modern Piano Moving handled the move of our Yamaha baby grand piano from NJ to Seattle. They were on time for both the pick up and delivery, were professional from my first phone call to final delivery and setup in Seattle, and answered all my questions right away while the piano was in transit. Nothing but the highest recs for Modern Piano Moving. They have a Missouri business address, but ship all over the contiguous states. My mother no longer plays (arthritis in her hands) and wanted me to have the family piano… now, this isn’t an irreplaceable concert grand or anything, but it is an heirloom upright, and she was worried about it arriving in decent condition after a 1600-​mile move.
MPM called twice ahead of delivery, once to give me a three-​day window (and to ask what day would be most convenient, in case I needed to schedule time off work,) and once the actual delivery was scheduled, to give me a four-​hour window for the delivery time.
Once the day arrived, they showed up on the stroke of the appointed hour, and quickly unloaded the piano & bench, setting it up, making sure everything was just as it should be. The three movers were nothing but professional & polite. The whole thing was accomplished in about twenty minutes.
I’m as pleased as can be with my piano, and would use Modern Piano Moving again in a minute.

I am impressed. After my complaint here, Derek reached out to me and apologized for the move we had. He more than made up for the delivery and communications issues. I am now quite comfortable in choosing Modern Piano Movers again if and when I need another piano moved. Thanks guys!

They did an excellent job of shipping my baby grand. The breakdown, packing and move out was done exactly as it should. They stayed in touch with me during the time it was shipping and gave me a 48 hour notice as well as a 1 hour notice of arrival. On arrival, they had everything in, unpacked, inspected, assembled and in place in a very reasonable time. Not a single scratch, ding or otherwise. I chose them because, although other shippers bid to take the job, none specifically knew how to handle a piano properly.

They moved our prized, restored 1922 Steinway B, and besides having four nicks in it, it was ice cold. I contacted them and they sent me a printout of the fuel used for the cooler, which according to them means there wasn’t an issue so they blew me off. We paid good money to hire a piano specialist and the timing was horrible, but we wanted the best and didn’t get it.

My father was a professional pianist in central Ohio. When he passed away in 1998, I inherited his Steinway, the instrument he played every day. Music, and specifically the piano, was one of the things through which we connected (and continue to connect.)
So, needless to say, I didn’t want some bunch of assholes shipping my piano out to California, now that my kids are old enough to be interested, and not be inclined to plaster the thing with Hello Kitty stickers.
From the moment I initiated contact with Modern Piano (based on hours and weeks and months of combing through recommendations and forums populated by professional musicians), I knew I was in good hands. From sales to dispatch to the guys who actually move the piano, you will not find a more talented group of professionals.
The bidding was simple and clear, the service was quick, every conversation I had with everyone involved was professional and kind, and the piano was picked up and delivered ahead of schedule, in perfect condition. I could not have been happier with the level and quality of communication, nor the skill and demeanor of the awesome guys who navigated a tricky set of turns and stairs to get my dad’s piano into our house. If you’ve ever read any other of my reviews, you know where I stand on customer service, and these guys are truly exceptional.
I don’t know what to say about the other single-​star reviews here, except that my experience could not have been any more of a polar opposite. Hire these folks with confidence — you will not be disappointed.

I contacted a local piano moving company (not one that does long distance moves themselves) and they said they contract all their cross country moves through Modern Piano. They also confirmed that the price I was quoted was reasonable.
I got great communication from the company, calls before pick up and drop off, confirmation emails, and timing updates. They give you a multi-​day window when you contract with them, and give you a more exact time as they get closer to the actual date. This is not a ‘wait at home for 12 hours for the cable company’ thing, they gave me a pretty narrow window once we got within a day of the actual pickup.
The movers at both ends were professional and careful, the piano was wrapped well and moved carefully. They even fixed a loose bench leg when they delivered it.
They’re a well run outfit, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

It’s time to set the record straight. I found these guys on USHIP (they have near perfect feedback in those reviews) and looked up their contact info on the federal motor carriers/​department of transportation website (
). As you know, their website leads to booking directly through UShip (which will increase your costs by about $ 500 due to Uship booking fees).
I have an original, irreplaceable Steinway Model B Piano worth a small fortune, and Modern Piano moved it from central Florida to the Denver suburbs without a hitch. I was an anxious mess for the duration of the transport, and Steve (the dispatcher I worked with) was absolutely wonderful in communicating updates on the piano’s whereabouts and extremely reassuring. The piano was picked up and delivered exactly as contracted. They used appropriate piano moving equipment and excellent moving techniques during pick-​up and delivery. And, most importantly, the piano was delivered in PERFECT condition.
As an added bonus, Matt (the delivery agent) had a keen eye and made great suggestions on how we could position the piano to make the best use of our space. He did not rush and allowed me ample time to inspect the soundboard, every hammer and pin and play every note.
There is always a chance of injury during a long distance move, and that is why I was willing to pay a premium to have a dedicated piano mover with decades of experience move my baby. I will ONLY ever use modern piano moving after this perfect moving experience.
PS There were no stickers or any other type of advertising attached to my piano. The guy who left that as part of his feedback appears to have the wrong company. I also simply do not believe some of the feedback left by others — damaged floors and door jams? No way, no how. I watched these guys the entire time — they didn’t take any chances with anything that did not belong to them.

I should have checked Unilocal before using these guys.
Damaged my piano en route, and the movers high tailed it before I noticed the damage on the side. Company refused to take any responsibility for it. Ended up costing another 600 bucks to get the side repaired .
Also tried to extort another 200 bucks, as they were shipping the piano to me for some sort of «NYC fee»
Completely unresponsive, and honestly openly hostile management to my problem.

If there were a lower rating, I would have used it. I have a semi-​concert grand C Bechstein that I needed moved from LA to NYC. We decided that it was better to have a professional piano mover do this than a regular moving company. Paid a great deal of money to have it shipped. They claim that they have the best experience. Only to find out that the guys who picked up the piano only had maybe 2 years total COMBINED experience. Needless to say, the piano arrived damaged. They broke a pedal rod and damaged the finish on the pedal casing. After several weeks, they finally sent a guy back out (Friday evening around 10pm) with a new rod. The rod was the wrong size even though they had taken the broken rod with them when they had delivered the piano. They sent this guy on Friday night only because they had another delivery in the NYC area. So it was convenient for them. But the owner Russ Vitt tells me that this is above and beyond and that most people would find this to be true. Who is he kidding? Then he tells me that I’m interrupting his dinner and hangs up because I’m angry that he’s not going to do anything about this, (other than have me find someone to fix the piano and then file a claim)!!! I’ve paid thousands to have the piano moved and this is called service? UNACCEPTABLE UNPROFESSIONAL! Don’t use them. Right after the piano was delivered, I followed up with the office to make sure that they were taking care of the problem and they weren’t even aware that there was a problem with the deliver.
