Sulphur Springs Inn

If 0 stars was possible then I would award the place just that, but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest. I take star ratings very seriously so I say this with the heavy burden of a terrible experience. I’m not sure how this place is still in business and has not been shut down by the health department or the chamber of commerce. It was so bad that we paid for another place to stay and drove over half an hour to get there causing a very big inconvenience to our trip plans. The place was dingy and filthy and filled with heavy incense smoke. As an asthmatic, this caused great concern for me due to possible health issues that would follow even 1 night of staying here. I’m not just talking about dirty as in a quick vacuuming and dusting could fix, I’m talking about the kind of damage that might require specific gear to protect you while you clean in addition to some construction repairs. The bed in the room we almost stayed in was clearly from the early 90s if not before and there were mouse droppings on the floor between the bed and nightstand. Onto to exterior of the building, the courtyard was junked out like a yard in that show about hoarders or the pickers show and it was also filled with cats…15 cats. Yes, I counted. To say it didn’t compare with the amenities boasted on the website is an understatement, but also the website neglected to mention the almost $ 100 room came with only a sink and toilet (exposed with no walls in the bedroom — how romantic) and communal bathrooms on a different story of the building! Unfortunately we paid for the room already and even though we didn’t stay still have not seen any money returned. I leave this review in hopes that no one will get suckered into staying here like we almost did.

The owner was really great. This place is very rustic and in need of repair. Our room was fairly clean but we had a little visitor… A scorpion! The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the place shows its age.
The good: Charlie, the owner! He made us a very nice breakfast and we were the only guests. It was quiet and peaceful. The location is fabulous, right at the entrance to the Chicasaw National Park. The price was right.
The shower area is shared so be sure you are prepared for that. There are sinks and toilets in each room.
In its hey day I’m sure this old bath house was incredible.
