Went hunting today at the C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area in Sumerduck, VA. After six miles of tramping through brush, I decided to get something to eat. Across the street from the Sumerduck Ruritan Club — almost in the middle of nowhere, I saw a small convenience store and expected to just get some chips and a YooHoo. I found they have a small deli with a two-seat counter! Most breakfast sandwiches at the time of this review are $ 4 and the cold subs are $ 5. they also have a selection of hot sandwiches and burgers too. the Duck Burger is a regular cheeseburger with a slice of deli ham. I had an Italian hoagie with the works(except for banana pepper) with a chocolate YooHoo and a package of Gibbles(local potato chip). The ladies who run the store are friendly and the place has that rural charm of a country store. You can get fresh bait, hardware stuff, car repair, pet food, beer and wine, and plumbing supplies here too! They also serve as a deer check station for the Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries. They open at 7AM during the week, so I may come back for breakfast during deer season to grab a bite and gawk at the successes of other hunters.
