S & S Drywall, Inc. is a market leader specializing in drywall and plaster finishing of new construction and basement projects for the Metro east St. Louis area. S & S Drywall employs some of the best hangers, drywall finishers, plaster finishers, and painters in the region with total experience adding up to over 150 years! «We have the resources to drywall or plaster any new home», says founder Jacob Staggs. «From starter homes to multi-​million dollar dream homes we have the tools, manpower, and knowledge to get the job done quickly, neatly, and professionally».

History

Established in 2006.

S & S Drywall was founded March 23, 2006 by two brothers, Rocky Shemwell and Jacob Staggs. Rocky brought business knowledge and customer targets to the table. Jacob brought experience, quality, and industry contacts to the table. What started as a small company doing small jobs has grown to become one of the area’s largest Drywall & Plastering companies.

The company launched their website in April 2008, and became a sponsor of the Builders Club in May, 2008. In November, 2008, S & S Drywall became a member of the Home Builders Association.

S & S Drywall formed a new division in july of 2009. This new division was created to meet a need for a good, reliable plaster company in the Metro East area. Our plaster division offers a full service job that includes hanging, scraping, installing floor coverings, plastering, and cleaning up the job site once plastering is complete. We are very excited in being able to offer plaster ceilings and drywall walls, if requested.

Business Owner

Rocky Shemwell founded S&S Drywall in 2006 with his brother Jacob Staggs. When Rocky and Jake were young, their uncle, Jack Walker, owned a drywall company out of Collinsville and both boys were put to work doing drywall during their summer breaks. After Rocky graduated high school, he quit working for his uncle’s company and began working for Wilke Window and Door. After a distinguished 9 year career working there, he began a new job with IKO Roofing products as a Manufacturer’s Representative. From the time Rocky was a teenager he dreamed of owning his own company so when Jake let Rocky know he had the same dream, they joined forces and became S&S Drywall.

Rocky is married to Kim, has two sons, and a daughter. The family enjoys going on vacation, camping, boating, float trips, and most other outdoor activities during their free time. During the normal routine, the Shemwell’s attend church regularly and do their best to be a witness and example for Christ.
