History

Established in 2006.

Atlantis Taverna, situated in a 100 year-old building in historic downtown Sun Prairie, was started by Telly & Beth Fatsis from Madison WI. Growing up in a Greek family, Telly was exposed to his mother’s recipes at an early age. Beth and Telly became active in Madison’s annual Greek Fest, where they were instrumental in preparing food for that event, as well as several other food-related fundraisers held by the Greek church.

Telly has been in the restaurant business for 30+ years, as owner/operator of Plaka Taverna in downtown Madison, and former operator of Cleveland’s Diner.

Atlantis Taverna, as well as its sister restaurant Plaka Taverna, are styled on the traditional Greek «tavernas» which are casual, friendly, family-owned restaurants found in Greece.

While Atlantis retains many of the historic features of the old building (including the original tin ceiling), it has incorporated many Greek taverna-style elements – a wall mural, outdoor seating, and Mediterranean colors.
