Great place! However the lady that works on Saturday nights is rude, been going there over 18 years. When I told the owner about it he didn’t seem concerned as if he didn’t want to waste his time

They have THE BEST white frosting with rainbow sprinkles donuts in town… literally!
One Saturday morning, I drove all over Shadow Hills, Sunland, Tujunga, La Crescenta and into La Canada and stopped in every donut store I came across. I purchased only one donut from each shop, the white frosted donut with rainbow sprinkles. I took my collection of donuts home, numbered them and did a blind taste test of each with the hubby to find the best one. Buds had it, hands down, no competition, clear as day. SOOOOO GOOD! Why did I do a taste test of this donut? My daughter’s 2^nd birthday was a week away and to satisfy the theme I needed rainbow sprinkled donuts. I opted for those instead of cupcakes this year for dessert. I called Buds a few days later (3 days before the party) and pre-​ordered 3 dozen donuts of JUST the rainbow sprinkles. They were helpful and willing to take my order. They made them the morning of my party (a Saturday) and had them boxed and ready to go when we needed them.
Fast forward to the moment when I unveiled my donut tower at my daughter’s party. The guests were dying to get their hands on these bad boys and they were NOT disappointed. THEY LOVED THEM! I can’t tell you how many «mmmmm’s» I heard that day. People were going back for more. They were a total hit.
I love that this shop is only blocks away from my house because this place is our new go-​to donut stop!!! THANKS BUDS!!!

Shadow hills my ass it’s Sun Valley. Looking at this place is almost like looking at holy moly donut from Friday.

My Lotto stop and they’ve got the past winners plastered on the wall. It’s the kind of place where old guys sit and drink coffee all day. The donuts are good and fresh. Reasonably priced. All the basics are here– but nothing fancy. Easier to park now that the Ralph’s next door went out of business. Friendly and efficient staff.

Hands down best no nonsense donut shop in town… Cash j the apple fritters in the morning! THEY ARE STILL WARM…

Average at best. The location is SKETCH-​CITY. Then again, I knew that before stepping foot here, as I live nearby (unfortunately). The parking is plentiful, though. It’s located next to Papa John’s and the former (now thankfully closed) Ralphs. Went once to try a donut (chocolate iced with sprinkles) and a croissant (apple). Both were okay, not fantastic. I liked the donut better, the other had a slightly off taste for me. The donut actually was a «cake» donut, so I didn’t get a chance to try a «real» donut. They came out to about $ 3 which is pretty steep for 2 items from this sketchy locale. No bueno. If I’m ever picking up some Papa John’s and have a hankering for some donuty dessertyness, I might try some other donuts again, but will check out the price. I guess I’m just spoiled after Krispy Kreme. I love me a good drive thru and a warm donut. ;)

any time i am in Sun Valley I have to stop here. They have been making the best donuts for as long as i can remember. i dont have a favorite because they all rock. i bring a box back to my crew any time i need them to work over time. they are so happy about the donuts they are happy to stay late.

The son however if he left to teach English abroad I don’t think anyone would miss him… I know I wouldn’t.
I came in almost to closing I know, but that doesn’t mean I should be denied donuts if they are available. does it? (begin scene)
I came in excited for DONUTS. The son was not only not friendly, he ONLY showed me the croissants and muffins. I asked if they were out of donuts… HE SAID YES, «it’s almost closing, we are sold out», when I asked him about what flavor croissants were left. he pretended not to know. Anyways… I spotted the Mom/​owner putting love and artistry into tomorrow’s donuts/​pastries. And I saw some donuts and asked politely if any were available… She said «Yes, that is leftovers from today» promptly told the son to grab the trays and show us what was available = BAD Son/​Amazing Owner.
The Mother threw in 2 free donuts as an apology… Is she an angel or what??? The donuts were actually pretty good and especially for being the end of the day. The apple croissant was very good… I would have gotten the chocolate one but it looked burnt so I opted for Apple. So in the end I would definitely go back if im in the area but my pearl is to AVOID the son and stick with the nice Owner.

Support your local donut shop. Buds has been my favorite in the valley for years. It’s family run and they’re great with customers. The donuts are fresh and so good. They also have a giant heart shaped glaze for a special someone.

Winchells, Yum Yum, Dunkin and Krispy Kream donuts are so over-​rated. If you want amazing fresh made donuts, BUDS is the place to go. And Beyond donuts they have my all-​time favorite Blueberry and cheese croissants! You must try those they make them fresh everyday from what i was told. The service here is great, the workers seem to work at a fast pace because they always have so many customers to serve especially in the morning. The location however is not so great, it is located in Sun Valley which is pretty ghetto and often see peculiar people hanging around the place. But that does not affect the quality of the donuts which is why i give this place 5 out of 5 stars.

Very hesitant on giving places 5 stars unless I have seen something abstract that separates them from the competition. The prices reflect the quality, its a little bit more than what you would usually pay. As far as quality for donuts, this is as good as it gets in this area. You are not going to find a better donut shop around Sun Valley.
I ordered a plain buttermilk and the texture was amazing. It was cooked perfect and i can never say i have been disappointed coming here. They have a wide variety of donuts, they have the most out of the Sunland/​Tujunga area. I have been to places in los angeles with various assortments, but that is entirely outside of the subject.
They have some young girls who flirt with the senior citizens and «regular (s)».It really makes their day and you can see it on the customer’s faces. If you see some older white men outside reading newspapers, then you are at the right place. The donuts are pretty damn good, its quite impressive. I can’t speak on the croissants and non-​donut section on the menu, but the donuts are «THE BOMB».

My son and I wanted to treat ourselves to a naughty treat on his birthday weekend and we scoped out this donut shop. The coffee was good, the service was fast and friendly, the donut selection was large and the custard inside the filled donuts was tasty. Some shops have stopped using any pudding-​like filling instead substituting a whipped frosting like filling that’s kinda lard-​like, but not Bud’s. They had a real vanilla flavored pudding style filling, not a true custard, but much better than the stuff many other operations have moved to. The bear claw was light and chock full of apples. My cinnamon roll was great too. A real mom and pop place! Not fancy, but good food and good people.

The donuts at Bud’s are always fluffy, sweet, and fresh. The coffee is pretty good too! I’d recommend the Apple Fritter or, if you dare, the chocolate chip croissant. Not sure who reviewer Sharon O met behind the counter, but every worker I have ever encountered there has been very pleasant.

My family has been getting donuts here since I’ve been alive, a nice 25 years. They have every donut you’d imagine and a variety of muffins/​danish and the like. I’ve had donuts at tons of other places and I promise you, none are as good as Bud’s. Why do you think they’ve been in business so long? Its a family business and the two main sisters used to run in most days, but now they do along with their children (one sister has 8!) They are always in good moods, they know most of their «regulars» and they’re open every day and pretty late for a donut shop.
They also have lotto tickets there and call me superstitious, but I win on lotto tickets more often than when I buy a ticket anywhere else. I don’t buy them often but when I do I make it a point to go here. I usually have one of the daughters just pick a random one for me since in the past they’ve picked me winners. :)
Sure, there are some older guys who sit outside and drink their coffee and chat. But what’s wrong with that? I’ve never ever had a problem or have been «grossed out» with any of the older male patrons who frequent here. Yes, sometimes there are patrons who have their shopping cart waiting outside, but that’s because the owners offer them free coffee or a donut to eat once in a while.
Oh, and as for freshness, the donuts are always fresh… if you go earlier than later of course. They’re still amazing and soft, but hello, if you’re eating one at 5pm versus 5am they’re not gonna be «fresh out of the oven.»
