Apollonia Gallery NY

I am currently disturbed by the lack of response that the owner has given me. I purchased a piano over a week ago. The girl working there at the time was very sweet and helpful, and said that the owner would be in touch with me the next day. I did not hear from him, so I called and spoke to another woman, who told me to expect a call in regards to delivery. I did not receive a call. I went into the store this last weekend, a week after I purchased, and the girl who sold me the piano (nice girl) apologized and said she’d speak to the owner immediately and get back to me. She did, and had to tell me on his behalf that he had wanted to sell the piano for $ 200 more than what I paid for it. Not my problem! So now they have my $ and I have not received information on getting what I paid for. I called again yesterday and was told by the other woman (nice lady) that she would speak with him and have him call me. I’ve received no such call. At this point I am planning on going to pick it up next weekend on my own. Given that I have paid for it AND have a receipt, if I am not allowed to take it then and there I believe I have the right to call the police… or just put a stop on my credit card. At this point I’m really just disgusted. On top of being non-​communicative, I think it’s extremely bad business to have your employees relay messages on behalf of the owner. It was awkward for both her and me, as there is really nothing that she has to do with the situation. The sign says «Prices negotiable,» and if an owner wants a specific price, they should label it and NOT advertise negotiation. I’ll update this as to whether or not I receive the sold goods. So far I’m beyond unimpressed.

This is a good place to go window shopping and browsing.
But it’s a weird hybrid of an overpriced antique shop + overpriced coffee shop. There’s no outdoor seating, and the café is in the back of the shop, so it’s dark with no natural light. The antiques and other stuff (interesting but expensive for this neighborhood), are up front taking up the major real estate. That’s probably as it should be for a gallery, but the café is really an after thought.
The décor is quirky and fun, like a theater person did the design work. And there’s a little area for a performance space, but it’s so small you can’t imagine many people fitting back there. They offer cookies and muffins and other things that taste like they come from a box.
Could be a great coffee shop, but they have some work to do.

Wonderful selection of antiques and unique art. They just opened up a café in the back where you can enjoy a latte and get some work done with their free wifi.

Nice little gallery and coffee shop with beautiful furniture. Bought a dresser there and since we live locally, the owner delivered it for free and wouldn’t even accept a tip as a thank you! Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning ourselves in the future.

I just moved into this neighborhood, and I keep finding things to fall in love with about it everyday – but this place is the first to evoke a Unilocal review. I was actually walking to the Starbucks on 46^th St to use their internet when I passed Apollonia and thought, «oh, this is a cool little shop, I should check it out on the way home.» Knowing myself the way I do, I knew that I’d probably forget to do that, so I turned around to give it a walk-​through. Lo and behold, there’s a café in the back with wireless internet! Sold. So I bought my coffee and breakfast muffin and sat down for a relaxing afternoon. This place is gold. The décor and staff are so wonderful.

Really lovely gallery with great selection of paintings & antique furniture. Also they have classes in bookbinding and painting. :)
