What a great little restaurant! The last time I was there they comped my pesto pasta because the cook had forgotten to put pine nuts in it, and I hadn’t even noticed they were missing. They came and told me! My dinner companion and I shared the fried rice cake and the red sauce had just a tiny bit of heat. Their desserts are very light and delicious. I’ve been three times and it is always excellent.

So happy to have is authentic Italian restaurant in my neighborhood! The food is always delicious and very inexpensive. Jimmy is an amazing waiter who remembers us every time and knows exactly what we like to eat. It’s BYOB which means you can enjoy great Italian dishes with the wine of your choice(the liquor store is across the street)

I’m really confused by all the five star reviews. Went here last night with a small group. We brought a couple bottles of wine since it’s BYOB. It was nice that they let me know that when making the reservation. The food was… fine? I mean, the bets thing I’ll say about them is that it was decent for the money. We started with a few orders of meatballs and calamari. Calamari was generic, and the meatballs were okay, lacking in a decent sauce though. For entrees, we had eggplant, lamb, chicken zio luigi, and veal scallopini. It was all only ok. Portions were a bit on the smaller side. The place itself is tiny, but they do a good job of not having everyone on top of each other. Can’t really recommend the place. I’ll stick to Dazie’s for now.

Our new Italian place! Currently it’s BYOB as they wait for their liquor license, but this place is great. The pastas we’ve had are all amazing. The lamb was good as well. We will definitely come back… and we’ve had twice before since they opened.

Excellent food. Love their food. Its like the food you would get in a michelin starred restaurant. But at queens prices. Fresh ingredients and scrumptious desserts. Do try their fresh mozz.

The food here is great. It’s BYOB. I have been here twice. First time I had the special, appetizer broccoli rabe with cherry pepper and Italian sausage. For entrée I had the rack of lamb. Delicious. The second time I had pasta bolognese and also tried their chocolate mousse cake. My husband also loved his food. He had the pasta both times. Great food. Great service. Portions are not to big but so worth it. Good job guys. We’ll be back again.

This is Not an Italian restaurant. I was expecting a home made cuisine freshly cooked, but every dish seemed to be reheated in the microwave. The main problem of this place is that it pretends to be something that it is not. The servers are overdressed and everything on the menu is overpriced! As a «starter» 4 asparagus with melted cheese on it for 8 $. The mediocre quality of the food doesn’t make it a culinary experience worth remembering. And last but not least the tomato sauce which is the core of Italian cuisine was the most blend and bitter I have ever tasted.

Watch out, Dazies. Between Zio, Sole Luna and Venturo, we will no longer be held captive by your absurd overhead for Italian food! Overall fantastic quality in our first meal her last night – spot on burratta and homemade pasta. And $ 23 for a fantastically cooked pork chop on special? Don’t change a thing!

we love this place! we came here for brunch. it’s a quaint & cozy setting in Sunnyside with brick walls and an elegant ambiance. they don’t have a liquor license but the latte was incredible. our waiter was extremely polite and kind, but he got my frittata order incorrect. we weren’t upset though because everything is delicious. very affordable as well! will definitely be coming back for dinner!

I’ve been reading the reviews here, and decided to give it a shot… so far so good. Delivery was fast and the food was very good. Had the fried calamari appetizer. WOW, that really doesn’t translate very well to delivery, but it was perfect. As was the beet and goat cheese salad. And yes the mushroom ravioli was REALLY good. Thank you to Luigi for being there to help bring a drop of sunshine to an otherwise bleak Sunnyside restaurant scene. *Too bad they can’t post an online menu somewhere

This evening we had our Valentine’s Day dinner at Zio Luigi. The place is very simple but it very nice. I always say sometimes less is more. The services was amazing! They are always aware that if they need to pour you more water or wine. The food was amazing. One of the best I think we have ever had. I had a spinach cheese ravioli to die for. My boyfriend had black ink linguine with seafood, all amazing. The dessert was also amazing, the best pann cotta ever. This was a great dinner. I true recommend anyone to go. We will defiantly will go back.

Celebrated Mom’s 86th birthday yesterday with bunch of family members. We had a brilliant time laughing eating and chatting. We had this great time at a restaurant named Zio Luigi right here in Sunnyside. The recopies are inspired by Italian traditions, the service is spectacular without being overwhelming and the food, the food is WONDERFUL. Everyone had individual entrees, we shared 6 appetizers and 4 deserts; we all literally wiped out plates clean. The prices are VERY reasonable. BYOB and NO chalking fees. Go see Louis James and tell ‘em Paul sent ya. 42 – 15 Queens Blvd, Sunnyside, NY11104

Food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Although small, the ambiance is lovely. There is also no rush to finish your meal and get out. The mushroom ravioli is something you will be dreaming about after you leave!

After having heard all the press about this new addition to the neighborhood, and learning that they had swung back from their unfortunate fire right after their initial opening, I was excited to check out Zio Luigi. Wow, what a treat! The restaurant is a very cute, homey, close space with exposed brick but romantic enough where you don’t feel like you’re crammed in with a bunch of people. I started with a standard mozzarella/tomato/basil salad that hit the spot. For my main course, I had a pounded chicken breast lightly cooked in parmesan and a pea purée, with roasted sweet potatoes. Absolutely delicious! My date had a mushroom polenta that was out of this world. The polenta came prepared in mini-sticks that were great and the mushrooms(which I’m normally not a huge fan of) blended perfectly with the taste. For her entrée she went extra funghi and got a mushroom papardelle that was also really fantastic. Luckily for me she couldn’t finish her plate, so I got a few extra bites as well. We spoke to the owner, Luis, for a bit after dinner and he could not be a more friendly and gracious host. He clearly is excited about the food he makes and pays careful attention to every aspect of the restaurant. As a side note, they don’t yet have their liquor license so it is BYOB. I ran out and grabbed a bottle from a local wine shop two blocks down, and the restaurant was very attentive in keeping our glasses full. A great experience and can’t wait to go back. And I’d like to check out the brunch!

I was happy to see that this restaurant was open since I love new additions to the neighborhood. I went for lunch and there were a few people there, the place Isn’t big but the décor it’s nice. they gave us some complimentary bread with a roasted tomato spread that was delicious. I started with the beets and goat cheese salad which was decent. Then I had the chicken Zio Luigi and it was delicious. The portions are huge but you can tell the quality of the food is great. The owner who was also our waiter was super nice and attentive. I will come back to try their home made pastas.

The food here is very good. We ordered the roasted beet salad, the linguini alle vongole and the chicken sopreze. All dishes were top notch. They make their own noodles for the pastas and you can definitely tell. Highlight of the night might have been the panna cotta dessert though with candied rosemary. The best panna cotta we’ve ever had. Updated Review March 5⁄16 I’ve changed my review from 5 stars to 4 stars after trying brunch here which we found disappointing. All of the things we loved about our dinner — the attention to detail, the rich and complex flavors — were pretty much absent from our brunch. The Eggs Benedict was dry, the hollandaise sauce mediocre. I would not recommend ordering the French Toast either — the portion size was incredibly small for the price. I hope they’re able to up the stakes a bit with their brunch and bring it to the level of their dinners. The owner is very nice and I do wish them the best.
