Denevi Digital Imaging

Denevi saved the day again. 30 year old negatives from a friend’s wedding — her home recently burned to the ground and she lost her wedding pictures. Fortunately I had my negatives from her wedding, Denevi processed them onto a DVD — bringing smiles to all.

The staff at the front desk are all very friendly. I brought in 1500 slides & photographs from an extensive collection for scanning. All the photos/​slides were sectioned off and labeled with small Post-​Its to enable me to quickly put the slides/​photos back into the sleeves/​albums where they are stored. The Post-​Its were clearly written for my use, and I explained this to the front desk person.
When I picked up my job, the photos were still grouped, but definitely out of order. The front desk people had assured me that the scanning technicians would absolutely, definitely keep the slides/​photos in the exact same order that I’d brought them in.
The slides were the worst. They were no longer grouped, and ALL of the meticulous Post-​It notes had simply been removed and piled up. It took me several HOURS to sort out the slides and put them back into their storage sleeves. Did the scanning technician somehow think the Post-​Its were for his/​her benefit? My order did not include paying for any digital folders or labeling, so it was obvious that the Post-​Its were for my benefit.
I had also written a large note inside one of the boxes of photos, that these were «extras» in case I had somehow miscounted, and hadn’t gotten to the 1500 scan limit of the package purchased. My instructions clearly said to ONLY scan these photo up to the 1500 job quantity limit. I reviewed this with the receptionist, who also wrote these instructions on my project order form.
All of the extra photos had been scanned, and I was billed accordingly.
So if you are in to having hours and hours of extra work after you pick up your job, and paying additional money beyond what had been agreed upon, this is the place.

I got a groupon for digital conversion of slides and turned two friends on to it. One had the old family slides done, as I did; the other did old family photos. The price was right, in this case. You ship your stuff off and wait 6 weeks or so. I was worried and so I tracked my package to make sure it arrived. After the amount of time they said it would take, I called and they were ready to ship it. It was beautifully packed and got here quickly. The work they did was just fantastic, good quality scans, nicely presented on DVD. They meticulously returned everything I sent them, down to the ancient slide boxes. 5-​star conversion work. They were also really very nice people when I called to check, as well. The only complaint I have is that I think that if you ship off your precious family originals to them and are willing to wait a couple of months to get them back, they could shoot you an email to say that the stuff arrived. I’m not docking them a star for it, but I do think it’d be the right thing to do, groupon deal or not. Great job, though!

I was told by a hospice team that my elderly dad would probably pass away in a few days. Other than the pain of the bad news, I panicked since the only good photo of him had me in it — and it was print not digital. I found Denevi on Unilocal and immediately rushed over to them. The Denevi team was extremely compassionate over my situation, and immediately processed my request to crop me out and format it into both a portrait print and JPEG. Some even shared their experiences and comforted me that they will take care of this. Sure enough, my dad passed a few hours later, and the Denevi team processed my request in the nick of time — they actually threw in a second portrait print. When I went to pick-​up the images, I realized Denevi’s major customers are large tech companies for marketing brochures and videos, and the presentations looked awesome. I was humbled that they took their time to work on my request — and they really didn’t charge much. If you’re in a MARCOM function, I would encourage you to look at this team. If they spend this much time helping me, imagine what they would do for you.

I recently took photos to be scanned to Denevi and had a great experience. It was for my dads birthday and I needed them almost right away. We exchanged emails and my concerns and needs were addressed immediately. I had a couple of videos of my dad as a baby, and a ton of pictures that needed to be processed. All of my items were taken care of and processed in a timely manner. I love the new location, and I am proud to say I will continue to take my business to them. The fact that they joined avenues with a printing company opens a lot of new opportunities for both companies as well.

Turn around time was good. Time was what we expected.

I was a little hesitant with all the new changes but it was well worth the risk! I needed some VHS transferred over to DVDs and I got exactly what I needed with overall great customer service and quality! I’ll defiantly be bringing the other projects I need done over to them!

I live in San Clemente (SoCal) with my family and have heard of Denevi’s through one of my friends. I sent in my tapes and some film I had developed a few months ago, and some lady, Jessica I think, was very helpful as I am not used to this process. I got all of my memories back on time and they work perfectly. I will definitely use Denevi’s again if needed!

At their previous location, I would have given 5 stars — treasured family slides, irreplaceable photos & movies, all scanned & digitized beautifully! Great personalized service, too. I had a credit with them — I felt SO comfortable leaving the supporting paperwork with them, total trust — but then THEY MOVED ONE HOUR AWAY. And, you guessed it: no record of my credit. Back & forth with emails, but basically I’ve been given the brush-​off. Glad I had no family heirlooms with them when they left town. Bad form.

I wish I could give negative stars this experience was so bad. No wonder Denevi has closed all of their locations with service like this. Denevi was the kind of store that you were proud to walk out of with a bag full of goodies. Denevi was THE place to buy high quality products, and get your film processed (we have dozens and dozens of Denevi envelopes full of pictures deloped by them). Now it seems they can’t even keep track of their jobs (ORDERS). Now they share office space with a sign/​graphics company and don’t even have signage on the door with their information. This was a mistake going to them, and I urge you, DO NOT make the same mistake. Before I even sent off the tape for conversion I called in and verified all of their contact information (It STILL says to send to Denevi in HAYWARD ((another closed location) when you place an order online), the price, and turn around time with a lady named Vicky. It turned out that she would tell me excuse after excuse when I call in for status of the conversion. All of my interactions were with Vicky. This tape has taken weeks to get, and I had to pay $ 75 in gas and take time to come to sunnyvale get it. I kept getting told ohh, it was mis named, uhhhh the tech is working on it, I’m sorry but uhhhhh the tech has it and I don’t know what he’s doing with it. Then a week goes by and still no tape. I call again and uhhhh I dont know whats going on. Again I’m sorry I can’t find the tape or the order in our system. Can you give me the information off of OUR invoice since I don’t have it? I’m sorry I dont know whats going on and I’m going to have to put you on hold to try and find it since you don’t have it. Uhhhhhhh I’m sorry but I’ll have to call you back when I find it. Then again, I’m sorry it will be shipped out TODAY via FED Ex and that was 2 weeks ago. Still NO tape. Called back and got the excuse lady vicky… then I got the uhhh, ohhhh, I can’t find it. Then after 20+ min., I get well uhhhh I can send it Fed Ex. Again. Same lip service as before. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I called to get all of the information and processing times, etc. BEFORE I even sent the item. We literally have over 150+ of these 4min. tapes to convert and WILL NOT be spending a penny with Denevi. Then the excuse lady Vicky doesn’t even come out to explain. Another front desk lady tries to play the nice lady and the «I’m sorry» bit again, and reaches out and puts her hand on my hand to hold it on the counter. She has NO right to touch anyone. I don’t know her and don’t want physical contact with someone I don’t know. Then the other younger blonde lady at the counter is laughing. I guess it’s funny to her that I’m try to get this done for a 95yr man who wanted to see the tape of his late spouse before he passes. And the lady who un-​welcomly touched me snips :“well you know what?, I’ve lost someone before too”. I should have said he’s not deceased yet, that’s why there is an urge to get the tape! Sadly, Denevi is not what they used to be. Its just very disappointing, and the manager Mike and whomever the owners are don’t seem to mind their attitude, or actions towards customers. Just don’t make the mistake I did by using them. It will stress you out, and you will worry about the tapes you sent in. If anyone knows of a GOOD conversion company please let me know.
