Leigh’s Favorite Books

They carry a good selection, though the prices seemed to be worse on most books than Amazon or Target. However, it is a nice environment to walk around!
Unfortunately, I was not pleased with their trade in program. I bought a book from Target earlier this week at $ 18 and Leigh’s only offered to buy it for $ 3 store credit, even though they were selling it at full price! Considering it was in perfect condition, I had expected a bit more for it, and a little disappointed to have to buy another book there just to use the credit.
Overall, it is worth it to check out but don’t get your hopes up about trading in books.

Leigh’s Favorite Books is easily the best bookstore I have been to. It is very charming, organized, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I really like coming here. Many of the new books you buy you are able to sell back for 50% credit towards your next book. They have a big selection of titles and it’s conveniently located right across from the Cal Train station, so you can stop in for a book to read on a day trip to the city. You will find something you like here!

I really enjoyed being there :) It maybe a tad small but it was really well organized. I loved all the cute little items they sold aside from the books like coin purses, bags, and lip balms. I would go back again: D

The favorite books of Leigh are definitively going to become yours as well, once you step into this magical world of printed ink in a small yet compact space. I am glad my friend Agnes mentioned she needed to check the latest coloring books (yes, the latest fad, but is such an awesome way to relax and meditate). We spent a really good time checking books in this nice book store, you don’t even find this type anymore! Also, nice surprise, we got some wine, crackers, cheese, salami and grapes at the back of the store. You can also get a lot of different cute little gifts and even purses. Eclectic and petite bookstore, very recommendable.

Oh! how I did not want to leave this bookstore. In addition to really cool books, this store has a bunch of other neat stuff. From SF books, post cards to vegan wallets and toys.

I love this bookstore even though I’ve only been in here twice. I really love the atmosphere. The guy that helped me was friendly. Price range is kinda expensive but I think it’s good to help local stores rather than buying online or from Barnes and Noble. Great variety of books!

A cute little bookstore in Sunnyvale, selling a combination of new and used books, along with a wide variety of little tchotchkes.
The guy at the front desk when we went wasn’t super interactive/​friendly, but that was the only real ‘meh’ moment. We walked out with a nice stack of books, and a few fun trinkets.
Defintely worth checking out!

Cute little shop with so many unique souvenirs

I guess this review will be more based on selling back books, or at least trying to. I called in hours before actually going into the store to ask what kind of books they’re looking for/​willing to take off of my hands so I gathered a bunch of old books from my English classes back in high school ready to make a bit of money. When I got there the cashier was busy with another customer so I looked around to kill some time. Super cute store, I love the little knick knacks they sell there. Anyways, when it finally got to my turn it turns out they only offer store credit, not cash! Wow, big mistake on my half from not asking them earlier on the phone what kind of currency I’d be getting back.
Don’t get me wrong, the store is adorable and they offered a wide selection in most genres. Most of the books are in such good condition that you would think you’re in Barnes & Nobles. I just wish they would offer cash back is all. :(

Friendly staff, awesome stick, convenient sell back program, cute cards, fun to browse, open pretty much all the time — love this place! Great to browse and bring out of town visitors to. A Sunnyvale gem.

One of my favorite places to visit! They have a great selection of books and random things you never realized you needed but fall in love with when you’re there :) I love coming here to look for personalized gifts for friends and family, like awesome journals or nostalgic books. The staff is knowledgable, and extremely helpful. They also gift wrap! And, they’re so thoughtful they remember to take the price tags off without even having to remind them. It’s obvious the owners are passionately involved with their inventory and store and its one of my happy places.

Oh my goodness… I just love this place a rare & wonderous thing, an independent book shop! No coffee bar to attract people who just take up space & don’t buy anything, lots of browsing, recommendations from staff, that wonderful bookstore smell… what’s not to love?!?
An added plus is the nice array of gifty type items, some really cute things I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Yay independent book store!

The children’s bookstore is next door is Bookasaurus — it’s never too early to teach your little ones to be voracious readers!

Leigh’s favorite books has a very small young adult section– two bookshelves worth. Their adult fiction is pretty sizeable and they have quite a lot of «new» copies. Their used books are also in very good condition. They have a return policy where you can return your purchased books and receive 50% of your purchase price back.
This deal can be quite good if you don’t intend on keeping your copies and simply want to read and return books. Their pricing is fairly steep considering you can usually get books for a discounted price off Amazon. Leigh prices their new books based on the price printed on the back cover (typically $ 14.99 and up).

Ahhh, such a cute little bookstore. They had just the book that I was looking for. And GET THIS: you can get 50% of your money back if you return your book within 40 days. **This may only work on select books. Not too sure.

Found this place looking for the most random book ever: a dictionary for my son! I couldn’t believe when the typical chain stores like Target, Walmart, Walgreens and etc were either sold out or no longer carry the item because let’s be honest, who really uses the hard copy versions anymore when we have the internet! This store is your typical cute, little, local book store! They have a variety of new and used choices! Most of which are in really good condition if used! The store is very organized and has a great set up where they can carry a wide selection of books without it feeling cramped and cluttered! I’m so glad I found this hidden gem in downtown and will be coming here more often for «real» books!

Thanks to Leigh’s, I’m again motivated to work through my backlog of sci-​fi novels on the «must read» list. I picked up a couple books here at prices that were reasonable for their condition.
The lady at checkout was friendly and was happy to help me find the books I was looking for.
There’s a sort of thrill in perusing shelves of tangible books that online shopping fails to provide. For now. I suspect that whatever engineer solves that problem will become insanely rich.
So until we’re all jacked into the Matrix and physical possessions are a distant memory, go support your local businesses, head on over to Leigh’s, and maybe you’ll find that next adventure somewhere you weren’t expecting.

The short: A warm, inviting bookstore I wouldn’t mind spending the day at.
I really enjoyed this bookstore! I wouldn’t say the environment promotes snuggling up with a book, but definitely a warm inviting one at that. I like the wooden floors, and the absence of light music floating through the air helped me focus on finding a friend a present. I was first captivated by the artfully designed calendars, then the mouthwatering pictures of kitchen books, and next the travel section. I devoured the whole store! They also have little knick knacks like owl bookends, playing cards, puzzle sets, and pencil cases.
At first, I couldn’t find the section on interior design, but the guy at the counter, Connor, Leigh’s husband, was so incredibly helpful and friendly! He noted that he gave all his employees the day off, including his wife, so he managed Bookasaurus next door as well as this one. I asked him where the interior design books were, and he wasn’t sure but instead of saying, «I don’t know,» he called his wife and asked! He found it on the bottom shelf and brought a stool for me to sit on! I loved his charisma, which made being in the bookstore an incredibly wonderful experience.
Some of the books are 20% off and I noticed that Leigh’s prices are sometimes lower than suggested retail price. I don’t know the amount of books that are used or new. However, they do carry all genres, most of which are recent publications, so you’re bound to find something! If you can’t find it, just ask and they would be much more than happy to help you.
I could spend all day browsing their food books if I could or the art books or the travel books or the motivation books or … let’s just say they carry many books that I’ve heard of or have been looking for and I’m sure that they have a couple hidden gems that I wouldn’t mind discovering either.
If I’m ever looking for books, I’ll be coming back for sure!

My love for used bookstores is known far and wide. The smell, the great prices, the thrill of finding a new series and being able to buy ALL the books in the series at once, I could go on and on.
Sometimes though, wandering the aisles of a used bookstore can be fraught with peril. Leaning stacks of Robert Jordan fantasy epics compete with shelves stuffed with eight million copies of Salem’s Lot. At any moment a book or two could jump off the shelf at you or a stack could topple over and crush your bare flip flopped feet. Not so at Leigh’s.
By far, this is the cleanest, tidiest, and most well put together used bookstore I’ve ever come across. This is a store that clearly respects and loves books. From it’s lovely displays to it’s neatly arranged shelves, this is what a bookstore should be. And it’s not just about books. Beautiful cards, cute gifts, gorgeous notebooks, the list goes on of wonderful things to purchase here. And purchase I did.
In addition to a very good copy of «The Namesake» ($ 7.99) I also picked up a refrigerator magnet that said «Yay Books» ($ 3.99), a whimsical card of a dog playing the piano and a tiny notebook. Total for these treasure — $ 20.02. I thought I showed remarkable restraint; there was a bazillion other things I wanted to buy.
