O’Reilly Auto Parts

I just had an excellent experience at O’Reilly Auto Parts. My top-​of-​the-​line starter battery (a spiral-​wound Johnson Controls Optima Red Top) had been failing me with increasing frequency for about 9 months, and now had less than one month left on its 36-​month warranty. I had been anticipating replacement hassles with dread. Without even a receipt, they quickly looked up the purchase with just my phone number and gave me a free replacement with no hassle. That’s awesome service!

Why is the local store struggling against the on-​line retailers? Exhibit A is this store. The guys working in the store could not care less about the customer experience. You could drive a car through the window and they might look over and acknowledge that you are bleeding out and might still be breathing. After waiting for a solid 15 minutes to have someone at least look at me (with credit card in my hand and ready to buy), I left the store, went home and ordered the battery from Amazon. It showed up in two days, free shipping, and was 10% cheaper. Really lousy and I won’t go into another O’Reilly.

Came to drop off my used oil. Admittedly my collection container was oily and in a black garbage bags was used a lot. The staff there cleaned up my container and gave me a new bag. Definitely above and beyond, friendly staff even though really busy. 5 stars.

Good Service, Good Selection, Really Appreciate the Hours.

2 stars for having parts relatively easy to locate and match to your vehicle.
I’m no auto mechanic. And I figure that the majority of the population isn’t super comfortable with servicing and buying parts for their own vehicles, either. So you’d think that the people at O’Reilly would be good at customer service. That wasn’t my experience today.
I came in looking for replacement wiper blades and a headlight. I was ignored by the staff so meandered down the isles hoping that I’d figure it out myself. I found a book matching parts to vehicle models/​years so looked up what I needed and found them relatively quickly. However, I was still very unsure if I was purchasing the right thing, so when I got to the purchase counter I asked the cashier if he could double-​check that they would be compatible with my car. He typed haphazardly on his keyboard for a couple seconds, obviously not checking anything, and answered «yup!»
I asked «did you check the headlight, too?» He answered «huh?» One more time: «Could you please check to see if this headlight will work, too?» «Huh?»
Whatever. I’ll just buy this stuff and get out of your store. Thanks for the help.

Very poor customer service. Too bad, because some of the guys there are very knowledgeable, and their location is great and very convenient.

One star bc they had what I wanted & played decent music. –3 stars for zero help on the sales floor and for the building being uncomfortably hot. –1 star for standing in line & them making me feel like a dumb ass and not knowing what cashier is open. I’m a customer not a mind reader.

Clean store, low price guarantee and helpful customer service. I had questions about my purchase and one of the employees seemed to be spending a lot of time chatting with another customer while other customers were waiting. When he freed up, he apologized for being unable to politely end the conversation promptly to help other customers. I would return for future auto part purchases.

I originally picked up a radiator cap that was the wrong size but went back the next day and Ray was really helpful switching it out for the right one.
I also needed a battery for my truck and he was very quick and helpful to get it installed

I absolutely love this place. Every time I go here everyone is super nice, friendly and super super helful. They always help me over the phone as well. Always a 5 star service. I really am greatful to younger Erik and one of the Rich’s. They really helped me out. There are others who helped my girlfriend when she needed help. We love this place. Thank you guys!

I had searched at multiple auto parts stores for Acura grommets — and had even attempted to obtain them from Acura, but found that to be a hassle!
Finally, at this O’Reilly’s I met Ray who was able to locate and verify the part,
and esp. the fit, as tolerance is critical for this particular part — he did an outstanding job of ensuring I had exactly what I needed, and even then we ran over 9 p.m. for a few minutes with no issue. Ray was really professional, and great to deal with.

Service is very slow… It took almost one hour to get my battery replaced… At least 30min to get the tools to remove it and 30 min to get the warranty applied in their system. No, that is not what I would have expected…

This review is only for Erik. Super cool chill guy. I bought a wrong part. Try to get a refund. His co-​worker (old guy) said no cause package was too messed up. I said it’s not a problem since it’s only $ 13. But Erik kept pushing for it and got me the refund. Thanks bud! This act definitely will keep me shopping here.

Came to this place after fixing up my car and needing cleaning supplies and wax as well as paint to touch up a few places. Having never waxed my car before and not quite sure what product I would need to repaint some rubber I went to ask someone for a consult. I had to wait for three employees to finish their conversation about chili and this fat guy they all knew in order to get help. Once I was finally able to tell the guy what I was looking for he rattled off a few things I needed showing me only where the wax was.
Was able to find a few other things I needed but had to go find him again to find out what paint I needed and was frustrated that he seemed annoyed about helping me. Really? I sat through your stupid chili conversation and am straight up telling you what I want to buy. Really not impressed with the customer service here.

This is THE O REILLY to go to. Other locations did not stock the proper size lug nuts. We tried sears, autozone, and another o reillys location.

He was soooo helpful.
He walked me through the whole preocess and really went out of his way to help me.
Apparently we were looking at the wrong pump (it was all wires and looked nothing like the one we were replacing) and he helped us figure it all out.
I will definately be coming to him next time I need a mechanic repair.

The skid plate covering the transfer case of our Bronco II had lost two bolts; as a result, one side of the skid plate was hanging loose under the car. Referencing a Chilton Repair Manual, I found the part numbers for the missing bolts and nuts. The Parts Dept. of the local Ford dealer told me that the parts had been discontinued and suggested I go to a hardware store but couldn’t give me any specifications on what parts to get.
I talked to Ford Motor Co. customer service, who referred me to an obsolete parts supplier for Ford. Called them, but they didn’t have the parts nor any specifications for the parts either. Now what?
I called O’Reilly Auto Parts by Golfland in Sunnyvale. Ray said to bring it in and he’d take a look. I drove over and Ray looked under the car and identified what parts were needed. After I purchased the parts, Ray went above and beyond by installing the parts and securing the loose skid plate for me. Not an easy job as it was difficult to access the top side of the skid plate, which was greasy & grimy as well. Now I’m not worried about an imminent accident from the skid plate coming off and ricocheting off of the pavement at high speed. Thanks for your help, Ray! Great customer service at this O’Reilly’s.

Spoke with Richard about touching up my car. He spent 15? Minutes with me on what I should do and that is after he went to my car to see the damage. Richard was absolutely incredible and I’ll never go anywhere else for car parts. Thank you Richard!!! Best auto parts experience ever!!!

I had to obtain an ignition coil for my car, so I went over to O’Reilly Auto Parts.
There was only one guy working the counter, and two people in front of us. Fortunately, the line moved faster than I expected for an auto shop.
The store only had one ignition coil in stock for my car model, although I was hoping to obtain two. Regardless, I just got the one. It was pretty cheap at around $ 30-​ish.
The guy working the counter was incredibly friendly and talkative. This location provided excellent customer service, and I’d be happy to return here in the future.

They guys at the O’Reilly on Murphy did not have my WIX filters in stock so I went here.
The guy behind the counter jotted down the wrong year for my car, so after I made the purchase I found the air cleaner looked way too large to fit in my car. After looking at the reciept I figured out why!
I reurned without any hassel the same clerk had found the correct air filter at the O’Reilly in Santa Clara at El Camino and Scott, which was a short trip to get this all done! He also checked to make sure the oil filter was the correct one for my year of car too.
He called and had the filter reserved for me to pick up and gave me the difference in price.
Thanks for being so nice and getting me the correct parts for my car!
