Quality Tune-Up Shops

Came in today for an oil change, the price was good, and the service was quick, will recommend. Allen and his crew are cool…

Still hard to say whether or not the QT Shop stripped the OIL PAN female threads or the prior shop — I’m an Electro — Mechanical Engineer who’s father had her under the car since she was about 4 yrs old… the person at this shop was so desparate to get money from me I would not doubt that he stripped the threads. 30 minutes to drain oil is a long time.

I’ve been here a couple times for simple jobs like fuel filter replacement (I’m not into fuel showers) and that was fine. But the last two times were bad experiences and reasons why I won’t be back unless its an absolute emergency (my car smoking right in front of their shop, then maybe yes).
The first was having a fuel tank gasket replaced. They said they would call when it was ready and it would be done before they closed. Well, about 20 minutes before they close, we call them and ask if it would be ready. They said they tried to call ONCE (we didn’t have any missed calls or voicemail) and that it was too late to pick up the car today. We say that we really need the car, can someone stay 5 minutes at MOST and the answer was NO. Whatever… had to work the schedule the next day to find a way to the shop.
The second was having my AC recharged. Allan look at it and say that I’m practically empty on R-​134A and that it would be about an hour. True to their word, it was an hour… an hour when they said «Oh, we don’t have any R-​134A in our shop, we’re all out». So, I basically waited an hour for you to find out you don’t have any… great. But he did mention that I could come back tomorrow… but didn’t mention anything about taking care of my wasted time.
So instead, I took my business to Precision Tune in Fremont where, for the same price, they did a leak-​test in addition to filling up my R-​134A along with a 3,000 mile warranty on any leaks since they couldn’t find any. Quality Tune-​Up was just for a refill and if it leaked and I lost all the R-​134A, tough cookies for me.
So…it’s a pass for me. Sure, they might be good for oil changes (a loss leader, be careful of the UPSELLING «Oh your air filter is dirty») but over the years I’ve found better shops for the services they provide.

VERY BAD PLACE!
I was helped by Allen and him and his partner tried to get me to do alot of unnecessary things to my car. The whole time they were doing the oil change they were talking bad about my brand of car right in front of me. My car never had any leeks till they were done. They striped the bolt that lets the oil out and they left it loose. If I wouldn’t have had it checked I could have lost the bolt and all my oil and it would have ruined my car. I will not go back to this place again!!!

I was on my lunch break today and decided to get a long over due oil change. I was greeted and helped very quickly. Allan was very helpful with any questions or concerns that I had and made me feel comfortable. My service there was fast and in the end Allan explained to me in detail the service that was performed to my car.

I’ve never had any repairs or work done on my car here other than the basic oil change, so I can only talk about that:
I’ve been bringing both my cars here for oil changes for the past 2 years, and have never had any issues. The oil changes are completed quickly, and the cars run fine afterwards. They’ve recommended little things along the way — my brakes need replacing soon, etc… But I have a mechanic I trust to do the «bigger» stuff. For me, Quality Tune Up is strictly an oil change place, and for that purpose, it’s great by me.
They always have coupons online for discounts on various services, including oil changes, so that’s great. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had to pay full-​price for one here, ever…

I’ve been here 2 times, for my Dad’s and brothers cars for their oil changes… The Oil change is done Under $ 30 with a coupon, done within 30 minutes!
The other thing I got fixed were the taillights, the lightbulbs needed replacing on all 6 spots in the taillights of my bro’s jeep… the «labor» was 70, but the bulbs themselves were only 2 bucks each…
I worked with Allan, the main guy there. he’s nice, is informative, and doesn’t feel like you’re getting swindled here.

and… Quick tip… be sure to check their website! They have coupons there (if you don’t already have one from your mail circulars) and you can make ONLINE APPOINTMENTS, where you’ll get extra coupons/​discounts for doing so… only downside is, they don’t always confirm the online appointments! so its’ ALMOST perfect…

the guys there are helpful. they offered me the lowest and best deal to replace my brake pads and resurface my rotors.

I brought 3 cars in in 3 days for oil changes. The price was the lowest around and Allan and his team were terrific! Highly recommend.

I went to get an oil change on my VW Jetta during my lunch time. It is right down the street from my work and they had a deal of $ 3 off if you made an appointment online.
My co-​worker and I made an appointment for the next day (for different times) but we decided to go at the same time to get our oil changed on our cars. They took us in right away and were very quick at doing everything. We even ended up getting a better deal ($ 10 off instead of $ 3). The topped off everything, filled up the air in the tires & even offered to rotate my tires for only $ 10 more (which I decided to do since I already saved $ 10 off the oil change).
I would definitely recommend Quality Tune-​Up to anyone. I am planning on making an appointment for my other car, since they saved me money, time, and stress.

I’ve always hated it when something happens to my car. Even a simple oil change stresses me out. Then you go to take care of whatever the issue is and most of the time it ends up being a total rip off, time consuming and generally a bad experience.

I’ve been here a few times and to be quite honest, all the other reviews on here are right on. Not only is the owner Matt, super honest about the services, but he’s very friendly and doesn’t give you that creepy, used car salesman BS when you go in for an oil change/​smog.
Efficient and very reasonably priced! I recommend this place to all my friends and co-​workers.
Last time I was in there for an oil change, I heard Matt and his wife just had a baby! CONGRATULATIONS MATT!!!

I needed an oil change and a smog check. As I parked my car, Arthur came to greet me and asked about my car. I gave him my DMV paper and coupons (printed from their website). He was professional and recommended a fuel injection service/​filter. He was explaining the process and helpful. After I decline, he was okay, not pushy. As I waited, we talked and got to know each other. The worker was helpful and checked my gas valve. He recommended to change, which I knew that it was hard for me to close. Overall, I was done in less than 1 hour and would come back again.

Coming across an auto shop that truly wants to get your vehicle repaired with the proper balance of value and service is hard to come by these days. I’ve been taking a set of fleet trucks (10k-​26k GVWR) here for years for all preventative maintenance, smogs, and minor to semi-​major repairs. As a previous review already stated the shop has had some major improvements over the past few years with a new re-​modeled office area, computer based records, and overall cleaning up of the shop and its work area. From quick turn-​around to great customer service, Matt has really done wonders in turning the place around from the previous business state it was in.

After reading reviews on this place from my fellow Unilocalers, I decided to bring my wife’s car here for service and maintenance. In the newspaper, I found a coupon for a winter service special for 49.99, which included an oil change, tire rotation, engine flush, and 20-​point inspection. This is a great deal considering that it would have cost me about $ 130 without the coupon. As everyone mentioned here, Matt is an honest person who knows what he’s doing. He’s not the typical repair shop technician who always tries to nickel and dime the customer. I dropped off my car at around 4pm with no appointment and had it done around 5pm. He provided me a detailed report on what and when my car should be serviced. Because of his great customer service and honest work ethic, I will continue to bring in my vehicles for any future repairs or maintenance. Thanks fellow Unilocalers!

Just got back from there, like the other reviews said, Matt was truly an honest and friendly guy. I got a smog check there, and I had heard horror stories about smog checks «not passing» when you go to a non test only service location. Well I passed and not only that, he quickly replaced one of my broken tail lights for hardly any money at all. Over all, my trip was very cheap and very good.
