Rick’s Property Maintenance/Handyman

I was looking for a handyman to replace my kitchen faucet. I checked Unilocal and found Rick. I read the great reviews and decided to call Rick. He was very professional and easy to talk with. Rick was available and was able to come by.
He checked my faucet and due to the awkward position of my kitchen sink, Rick told me he was unable to install my kitchen faucet. I truly appreciated his honesty and integrity. Rick refused to take any payment from me, so I offered to buy him lunch. I would give Rick 10 stars if possible. I will definitely call Rick again!

I left a message w/​Rick’s answering service and received a quick call-​back. I mean, quick! Unfortunately, Rick does not service my residential area (Palo Alto). But anyone who does not waste my time warrants an honorable mention. Apparently, Rick is responsive and it’s nice that he appreciates the call. If only more contractors could extend this basic professionalism/​courtesy to their clients and potential clients.

Honestly cannot recommend Rick enough! When my fiancé and I decided to sell his house, we had a pretty long to do list to complete in 3 weeks. After calling around a few places and getting told they could come by in a couple weeks or longer, that it was too small of a job or even worse, no call back at all, we were worried. But then I found Rick and he returned my call immediately and came out that afternoon to give us a quote. Rick was very honest about what he could and couldn’t do, suggestions on what to fix and gave a very reasonable estimate. When he came back and installed the shelves, range hood and threshold — he did some very quality work and made us wonder why we didn’t do it sooner. Rick is awesome… Hope we can use his services again!!!

Rick came by for a consultation within an hour of my first contact with him. Even though he wasn’t able to help me with my projects (through no fault of his own), he was polite and knowledgeable. I won’t hesitate to consult with him again.

Rick came today and installed the kitchen faucet for us. He answered the phone right away, and scheduled the installation in 30 min. During the installation he found there are missing parts. He called the hardware store, figured out what’s missing and I went to get it while he is working on the rest. When I came back with the parts, he finished all the rest and 5 min later job is done. This is a little more than 1 hour since I called him in the very first beginning.
I am an engineer and I like efficiency. If Rick was doing what I do, he would be the perfect colleague I would like to work with. Definite recommendation to my friends.

I found Rick from the excellent reviews on Unilocal.Everything I read in the reviews is true: very responsive, prompt, good value, easy to deal with and true to his word. We had 3 gates that needed repair. One could barely be budged open, and another was difficult to close. For the one that was falling apart, Rick took measurements earlier and built a new gate before coming to install it, saving time onsite. His time estimate was right on, and he was done within a few hours. All three gates are now in perfect working condition. We’re very happy with the work and will definitely call the next time we need a handyman.

I have not lived in the area for too long, so was not sure who to call to install a glass shower door. I had left messages for a few handymen, but nobody called me back. Based on Rick’s positive reviews, I decided to call him and see if he would return my call!
He returned my call right away and said he could come out that same day between 1 – 3! Then about 1:00, he called to say he was on his way and would be there in about 15 minutes if that still worked for me. I was impressed with his respect for my schedule, because we are all busy, right?
When he arrived, he carefully took the new door out of the packaging, looked at our shower, and said he could install it now and told me the cost. He got busy and completed the project and it cost exactly what he quoted me. He was very quiet, and clean and careful in our house. He even offered to dispose of the shower door packaging materials.
Afterwards, I showed him some other projects around the house we wanted to have done. He advised me that it may not be worth doing some of the projects, since we are likely to sell in a few years. I really appreciate his honesty and will definitely be calling him when we are ready to do the other projects.

Based on Unilocal reviews I asked Rick to repair a gate and a couple of posts. He answered the phone personally each time, responded promptly and knowledgeably to every question, showed up when he said he would and got the job done quickly and professionally. Thank you very much for a job well done.

Based on the rave reviews, we called Rick to install some overhead racks in the garage. He showed up on time and immediately set to work. A few hours later, he was done. He was professional throughout the job and looked very experienced, even showing me how he found the trusses in my finished garage (hint: magnet!).
Rick says some of his specialties are plumbing, door locks, water heaters, blinds, and windows. He can put up drywall but is not an expert at texturing. He can probably do other jobs, so call and ask him.

I called Rick’s because of a heating problem I was having during this cold winter and before I knew it he was here checking it out. He diagnosed our problem right away and advised us as to what we needed to do. Every other place we called was an answering machine, it was nice to hear a REAL person answer the phone.

Rick is an outstanding handyman. He’s clean, cost-​effective, and professional. He shows up on time every day and works hard. He thinks creatively when unforeseen issues arise as they often do during home repair. He is respectful of your home and removes his shoes before entering and cleans up well after his work is completed. I would recommend Rick to any property owner who is in need of handyman work/​repair. He has repaired our fence and remodeled our bathrooms, so he is capable of doing much more than simple repairs.

This is a long overdue review I have been meaning to write–
We have been using Rick and his handyman services for years, from hanging cabinets in the garage, repairing dry rot around the house, fixing a fence, planting a tree, replacing our garbage disposal, moving furniture, replacing our hot water heater, etc… Rick seems like he can do it all and do it well, I am picky when it comes to service, they better be on time, have a competitive bid and do the job right with a good attitude. He cleans up after the job and is always thoughtful and honest.
If you are tired of calling and waiting around for your handyman to show up, give a Rick a call, I am confident you will be just as satisfied as we are.
