The master bedroom in the home we purchased in San Mateo was not attached to our heating system (no idea why). While remodeling and adding an addition in the back, we wanted to finally figure out a way to get all the necessary ducts upstairs. This was no easy task– as many of the HVAC companies that I interviewed did not have a clue how to do this in a cost-​effective manner.
Enter Ryan at RTD Mechanical. He and his team designed a dual zone system for our home that not only got the heat upstairs, but also enabled us to save hundreds on our heating bill as now we don’t have to heat our downstairs at night. His whole team was a pleasure to work with and worked hard to ensure that everything was working perfectly. My General Contractor was so impressed with the work that he now subcontracts work to RTD. Needless to say, I highly recommend considering hiring this company.

In June of 2014 we finally pulled the trigger on getting our old gravity furnace (1950s-​60s) replaced with a modern heating system, and removing and replacing all our old asbestos-​coated ducts, as well as replacing the old thermostat and replacing it with a NEST thermostat.
Ryan at RTD came highly recommended, and did a phenomenal job overall. His company was timely, gave an accurate and fair estimate, and was professional through the entire process. Our house in Oakland was on the outskirts of where they were willing to go, but they made it work. Ryan gave us a military discount because I’m a veteran, and was willing to help keep us within budget. Our new system has had no problems, works well and has already saved us at least 30% on our energy usage. I highly recommend Ryan and his team for your HVAC needs.

I needed my air ducts replaced and insulation under the subfloor of my house. I live on a hill in Belmont, and the crawl space under my house is about 50 feet.
I called 16 contractors. Some did not even call me back, but I got estimates from 11 contractors, some did just the duct work or some did the insulation, some did both.
I wanted to go with one contrator that would do it all for me, but in the end decided to go with RTD Mechanical to do the duct work and someone else for the insulation. I am not mentioning the contractor I went with for insulation, as I had some issues with them, mainly around timeliness and communication.
RTD Mechanical always showed up on-​time — from estimate through inspection. Ryan was there for my test-​out. His dad, Tom, fixed some issues with the installation of my Trane heating system.
All of the employees were courteous and respectful — and showed up on time!

Ryan came recommended from another contractor. He replaced a thermostat and repaired other aspects of my forced air heating system. He communicated reliably and worked efficiently.

My heater went out the day before Thanksgiving. After calling +10 different HVAC contractors who were all busy, one referred me to Ryan. I gave him a call — he was polite, and managed to get me on his schedule ASAP — texting me updates when he could get on property.
He looked at the furnace — managed to troubleshoot it and my NEST thermostat, then fixed it promptly. While at the house, he demonstrated his expertise by pointing out a couple flaws in my current HVAC system. I had such a great experience with Ryan, that I am going to ask him to install air conditioning for us.

Ryan has been helping us debug our heating and cooling issues. His approach is practical and realistic, split into steps of how to assess the current setup and plan the most effective and cost efficient solution. So far, he has put 3 manual dampers in our heating vents to test which registers each feeds. We are testing them manually to see if faking zones with the current ducts will suffice.
Today (Saturday!), I installed a new Honeywell Wi-​Fi Thermostat and couldn’t get it to work. Ryan worked from a texted photo to assess that I did the wiring correctly. He dropped by later to figure out what was wrong (I needed to put the cover back on the furnace!). He hooked up a second unit for me as well.
All in all, great, conservative, professional service from a happy and competent guy.

Okay, I am one of the most picky people I know. When it was time to think about air conditioning for our home I called Ryan and his dad Tom. They came out the following day and looked at the existing equipment and set up. With out heater being around 20 years old and the rising gas costs to run the pilot light all day and night, we discussed the benefits of a new heater and adding the air conditioning too.
OMG, my family loves the new system and so do I. Our energy bills have dropped a couple hundred dollars each month even with the heater or air conditioning being used day and night. I never expected that. Trust me when I say we used the a/​c nonstop too!
The cost to have it done was more than reasonable and the service is A+++. The savings each and every month is delightful too. To top it off this system will end up paying for itself in no time at all.

I’d been unhappy for years with the uneven distribution of heat in my 15-​year-​old house. Ryan Deschamps came over to take a look and alerted me to the fact that several ducts had either never been connected to vents or had gotten disconnected, and that others were set wrong, either allowing too much hot air or not enough for comfort. He hooked up those that hadn’t been functional before and reconfigured the others so that they delivered more heat where I needed it. He did all this early in the fall, before the cold set in, and offered me a free adjustment once the temperatures fell enough so that I could tell whether the situation had improved. With the recent cold snap, it became clear that the system needed a little tweaking, and Ryan made a free return visit within a day of my asking. Ryan is a personable, competent young man, and his prices are quite reasonable. I heartily recommend his services.
