Sunnyvale Smog Test Only

Excellent service. This place helped me with my smog and advised me on how to process my registration and get my tags. They also have auto registration services so you don’t have to go to the DMV! Thanks, Alex. for helping me out!

Stopped by here this weekend and had them do the smog for my Mazda. I was in and out in ~15 minutes. They even added air to my tires cause they noticed the TPMS light was on. They saved me a trip to the gas station and no charge!!!
I used the coupon and got the discount so I have nothing but good things to say here. I’ve used these guys a couple times before and they’ve always been very fast and courteous. The price a reasonable too.
I’m sure I’ll be using them again soon.

Same as others. Checked in to use coupon, but says it expired? Had no choice to pay full because I didn’t want to waste anymore time driving to another place. I guess that’s the plan to get you there.
Besides that it was pretty quick. Two were ahead of me and I got out in 30−45min.

Be Aware.
First thing: told that the coupon brought in isn’t valid for the smog test. Costs $ 10 more. Huh?
Don’t be surprised if the following happens to you (as it did to with my car)… you are told that your vehicle failed because something trivial like a vacuum hose being disconnected was observed by the technician. The helpful technician then informs you that while he legally can’t fix it for you, he can show you how to plug the hose back in… but unfortunately he has to charge you for the failed test. Good news he’s waiting right there to re-​test your car after you plug the hose back. More good news… the re-​test is only $ 20.
This is the trick they played on my wife (yes, apparently they prey on less car savy). I came right over after she called me about failing the test, got the owner (Mr. Davis Chiu) on the phone and good for him he agreed to not charge for the second test. That’s why he get’s 1 star instead of 0.001 star (for a clean shop and waiting area).
So be aware. Especially if you are female and not very interested in what goes on under the hood. There are lots of smog shops. Choose another.

The owners have contacted my family and gave me back fifteen dollars, honoring their original 28.95 dollar smog check coupon. I have to be honest I wasn’t expecting that, but am very touched by the kind gesture. I am not changing my rating because of the fifteen dollars, but because of the fact that they reached out to me and my family seeking nothing, but to try to make things right with me, the customer.
I would consider going back 2 years from now for my next smog check, just more prepared for the weather next time.
I would suggest moving the «kiddie area» somewhere further away from the garage entrance.

Saw an ad for this shop on the net walk in walked out under 15 minutes people very nice friendly did their job quickly and very inexpensively can’t recommend this shop enough

We actually got «OBDII NOT READY» and our car failed smog at another facility. All that OTHER guy said was drive like 500 miles and 2 weeks and car’s computer will reset itself. But he also said while retest was free, he would NOT check if car computer was emissions tests ready after all that driving — and if it failed it would be a $ 50 retest. Toyota dealer said it would take $ 150-​$ 450 to test drive it, to make ready in addition to any other repairs. WTF — googling online I found this is a HIGHLY frustrating rare but often seen — all due to state regulations!
Being somewhat technical, I was able to download Toyota Camry instructions, bought a $ 10 bluetooth EMC327 dongle for the car OBD II port, installed my own OBDII software on an Android (Iphone5 & 6 sucked for real hacky stuff like this and would not even connect).
I had tests cleared in under 1 hour, except for a couple of NOT SUPPORTED — 2 out of 8 emissions tests. SInce I had to through 6+ apps to get 2 to work, I was not sure if it was a software thing or not. So pay $ 50 just find it it was «READY». Now what to do.
Joel of Sunnyvale Smog had done another car, and I drove to his shop, he hooked my car to his fancy smog OBDII test station, and he said it is READY! The unsupported just meant my Camry did not support that.

Really good smog test! Walked in around noon in Saturday but didn’t wait. Only 15 mins to complete the test. Very nice and professional staff. Would come again next time!

I had a great experience here. Friendly service and the check was really quick. Plus the coupon online made it a very reasonably priced smog check. Plus the location is nice since its next to Lozano’s.

— They won’t honor the coupon unless you «print and take it»
— Once you go there — they’ll add another $ 10 if your car is a luxury car or Truck
— Even as the coupon say «WE HONOR ALL LOCAL COMPETITOR’S COUPONS», they refused to take a coupon from a business a few block north — because it was «that’s Mountain View»
The owner looks like he doing you a favor — not service !!
What ever — they have the right to charge however/​whatever — and I have the right to refuse and find a better alternative.
Go instead to «Premier Star Smog Check» on 237 and El-​Camino.

I went to this place to get my smog done, primarily coz I found the coupon online. As I soon as I reached & showed him the coupon, the first thing that I hear is — «We will give you the discount, only if you put a good review on Unilocal.» It kinda turned me off, as I was being forced a Unilocal review even before I was helped. I still tried giving the benefit of doubt & wanted to see how it goes. I told him that I had gone to him straight after my 5 hour game & was very tired, but promised him a review nevertheless (I was still in my sports uniform, so I am sure he could see that as well). He comes back to me again, after a little bit saying, he is kinda doing a FAVOR on me by giving me a discount even though I didn’t give him the Unilocal review on-​the-​spot. This statement totally threw me off.
I read the reviews from one of the other dudes here which said that, the discount coupon of this place says that they will meet the competitor price. Even I found a $ 15 coupon online of a competitor which was in the vicinity; & this dude bluntly denied saying that they won’t go lower than 20.
Honestly, I don’t really care much about the $ 5 difference, but this goes to show by a long way; how professional they are and the frequent pestering to put in a good Unilocal review makes me STRIKE this place, never to go again.
So, Mr. Dude — I was genuinely gonna give you a good review had you been little nicer to me! Unilocal reviews are something that people would give you by choice after you serve them well. They are NOT to be forced upon people. Don’t try to rig the system.

1 star for rudeness and no integrity.
Stopped in for a smog test and brought in their coupon stating that they will match all competitor’s coupons. Brought along a competitor’s coupon for $ 5 less than Sunnyvale Smog’s coupon. Operator said that he couldn’t afford to smog my vehicle at that price, refused to honor his coupon, and goodbye. No wonder why the place was empty. Drove a mile to the competitor’s and my vehicle passed.

This place had great service and completed my smog test in ten minutes. It was helpful to have them offer a coupon online and be open until 5:30 PM. While I waited in the room next door, I read an article in W magazine about fashion royalty and the new trend setters, which made the time fly by quickly.

What a waste of time. The customer service was terrible. I was helping my 62 year old mother SMOG a 2000 VW Beetle. Not only did they take payment before letting us know that the car had failed, but when asking about a free retest, they said it would be an additional $ 29.95. I’ve never had a place charge for a retest or be so rude/​disrespectful. Oh and, if your car requires a STAR TEST ONLY certificate, they charge an extra $ 10. I’d rather pay anyone else full price than have to go back there.

This was my first time ever taking my car for a smog.
I took auto mechanics for 2 years in high school and was always told how people will try to scam you.
From the beginning, Joel was really welcoming and answered any questions I had.
I had to go to the dealership to purchase a piece to pass smog, but he was still very patient and helpful.
He was really honest and explained everything for me.

Did my smog today after printing out the coupon. No one else being serviced, so it only took a few minutes to get the PASS cert. Fastest smog i’ve encountered.
Yesterday, I went to a different smog biz on the other end of Sunnyvale. They had lots of neg reviews, but I figured i would throw them a bone if they behaved. They did not. Bad attitude right from the start. So i took my biz to this place and was not disappointed.
Located behind the car wash, not adjacent to it.

Super fast service! I came here on a Monday morning at 8.10am and was the only customer. Spoke to the mechanic, waited for 10 miniutes, paid, and was out of there. I even had time to fix the mechanic’s wifi router.
Definitely recommend this place if you need a quick smog test on the day of your DMV appointment…
