The Grand Hotel

We paid way too much for a crappy service. I don’t recommend this place for families because it is more suited for corporations and business people. They take more care of them and prioritize their needs. On a positive note, the breakfast options are great.

Most of the things that could go wrong, did go wrong. However, I still had a pleasant stay at the grand hotel. I booked this hotel through a third party company, and saw that it was ranked high on trip advisor and other booking websites.
When we got there, we found parking relatively easy. The check in was also not a problem. However, when we got our room card and walked into our room, one of the beds was not made yet… I have never walked into a hotel room where one of the beds were not made yet. The blankets were ruffled and the room looked dirty. I felt disgusted, and had to call the front desk right away. They were able to comp me the suite and that is what saved the weekend. The suite was really nice, it had an in tub Jacuzzi and a fireplace. And the bedroom was split apart from the living room. The suite room was great and I really enjoyed it. Keep in mind, the rooms at the grand hotel are huge, even if you stay in a regular room… its huge! I swear you can fit like 6 people easily into one double queen room.
Other things that went wrong during the stay was that the one elevator they had, broke down during the night. So, everyone had to take the stairs. I saw a black spider crawling around on the wall in my suite. They have complimentary breakfast, so that’s a plus. However, when I was waiting in line to get omlette, they ran out of eggs right when I got up to the station… when I say they ran out of eggs, I meant we had to wait 15 mins or so for them to get more at the local market. (I was on a tight schedule, so I had to skip on them) They need to implement a rule, one omlette per person, otherwise a person can get like 3 or 4 and leave non for everyone else.
They have a water filter on the lobby floor. They also have an automatic robot named Jarvis… Jarvis can deliver most items to your hotel room, this would have been great if the elevator did not break. Even after all these unfortunate events, I still enjoyed the stay at the grand hotel… mainly due to the nice upgrade.

I enjoyed my stay here. There were lots of perks that I really enjoyed! Everyone wants to feel a little pampered every now and then. We ended up w/​one of the villas, and it was great, not to mention beautiful! I love the light switch fire place & mini kitchenette! I felt really cozy there, and the beds and pillows were pretty comfortable.
The omelette bar on the weekends is fabulous. Usually I get back omelettes, at omelette bars, and the veggies are always undercooked, but the chef cooked mine to perfection! The pool is gorgeous at night. It’s lit up bright blue, so pretty! And they have a happy hour where they offer free wine and a couple hor d’oeuvres. I thought that was really nice!
You will notice some classy touches, like the «G» they stamp into the ashtrays when they clean them throughout the day. I like that kind of thing…
Things they could improve: My parents had a King size room. It was really spacious! That was great! But boy, those velvet burgundy bed skirts are hideous!
One other thing I didn’t like is that they don’t have any vending machines, and the ice cube tray in our freezer was cracked & broken. Kind of dangerous, because someone could swallow some of the broken plastic. Super cheap to replace that, so come on… Go grab a replacement from the dollar store.
I also found it odd that I didn’t receive two key cards when the room we paid for was for 2. I had to ask for a separate key. I personally think that should be a standard thing, but it’s not at this hotel.
Although I had a few complaints, I was overall, very happy w/​my stay & definitely recommend staying here. I will stay again if I am ever back in the area. I imagine the renovations underway will help to further improve the hotel.

I had a very poor experience. Housekeeping took all of my belongings from the room and I wasn’t able to get them back. I had to go buy fresh clothes and a new toothbrush. I didn’t get my belongings back until late the next day. The hotel has done nothing to help me.

That is not what happened. If I didn’t have a reservation, how did I sleep in the room that night? I had talked with the front desk multiple times about extending my stay for an extra day. I also contacted the front desk 4 times: in the evening immediately after finding my items were missing, twice again in the morning, and finally again in the afternoon when my items were finally located.

After I kept searching about hotel in Sunnyvale, I just moved from San Francisco. I end up booked a villa king for my Birthday in this hotel.
When I check in, this young woman was behind the desk didn’t greet or smile or being friendly as usual working in front desk. I wasn’t sure if she works in front desk??! finally she found my name & my reservation, without apologized for the wait or any manners but NOT! She gave me keys and said my room will be in first floor. I walked to my room with 2 big luggage plus other small bag… just annoyed already after looking&looking, couldn’t find the room! Thanks GOD someone name Tim asked if I need it help? I asked him where is my room? Been walk everywhere I’m tired carry all stuff & not knowing where I’m going??? He took me to the second floor where is my room #. I said just HHaaaaaa??? Really??? I never requested on second floor from the beginning?! this young Indian @front desk didn’t knowledge about room, NO personality NO friendly NO smile NO professional for person working in front desk especially for this hotel?..
I found what I was looking for about the room and yes I did have a good time with my friends. Tim was a great employee, he is friendly and very helpful, thanks to him. But this guy in breakfast area was serving egg, he was also rude,! Thanks GOD I’m not breakfast person. it’s okay:) hotel is great! Clean & spaces…

We came here because they had a Halloween special where the stay was under $ 100 for the night.
Boy were we blessed!
They had a beautiful bathroom, bathrobes, a nice sized bathtub, an amazing free breakfast with Sam who cooks an omelet for you. I recommend bringing tip money for that.
Then you can take your coffee & sit in the jacuzzi before you check out! Wonderful, beautiful place.
& all the staff is friendly & nice too.

I have stayed here for business trips a couple of times and have a reservation for a third time coming up in November. Does the décor seem a bit outdated? Yes, but I understand they are undergoing a large refurbishment that will take care of that. The rooms are clean and roomy and the beds are comfy and that is all that I really need. I have stayed at upscale places in many cities and although they are modern and impressive, at the end of the day the rooms often aren’t as comfortable as this «old fashioned» hotel. What makes me want to return? The friendly and helpful employees! From the front desk to the bartender, breakfast servers and cleaning staff. Everyone is always so kind and attentive. That goes a long way for me! I can’t wait to see the new refurbishments! See you guys on the 1^st :)

Very disappointed in this hotel from the start being charged a extra $ 40.00 on top of the charge of the room for parking, wifi, which other hotels don’t charge. We that everything would be okay as the offered free happy hour including hors d’oeuvres which was between 5 – 6 pm… The desk man said since we were checking in before 6 that he would give us to 6:30 since he had taken a lengthy phone call. Once we finally checked in and took our bags up stairs to the 3^rd floor we hurried to go back down stairs to make happy hour before 6:30 well once we got down there at 6:08 the bartender would not let use participate in happy hour… We even told her with the desk man had said and she had no concern and proceeded to say no we were already late z… had to pay $ 23 for two very small drinks. This hotel is like a little sister trying to copy what her big sister does. It tries to be a swanky cool place, and at first glance it is. But the staff, while friendly, seem very amateur. They say inappropriate things (when I asked the guy making my omelet at breakfast how he was doing, he said he was feeling a little sick) and seem awkward in how they deal with things.
The villas are decent – roomy and clean but need some major updates. Felt 1990-​fancy. We had an all-​day meeting in the meeting room and the staff was pretty inattentive. If you hunt them down they are friendly and happy to help but if you are expecting them to check in on you and know your needs… don’t.
It was a decent experience with much room for growth.

Facilities aren’t bad and the rooms are spacious. But I advise allocating a lot of time to check in. Took over an hour to get checked in.

I’ve stayed at this place a few times for work trips. There’s nothing wrong with the hotel, but there’s nothing great about it either. If the location is convenient for you, then I would at least consider this place since the price is better than a lot of the competition.
Everything in the hotel looks and feels old and outdated. The elevator is excruciatingly slow, but the internet works as well as can be expected. Food options nearby are decent if you’re willing to drive.

Nice place for a quick get away. Would definitely come back if in the area… Lots of places to eat close by. The place was comfy but needs an update on their interior.

They are more concerned with local events than out of town guests. Booked here all week for business travel. Internet connection sucks, tv reception sucks, they have us illegally parking two blocks away because the chamber of commerce is having a party here, and they have a bunch of chimanzees banging drums so loud you can’t hear yourself think. I would rather stay at a Motel 6.
Tip: if you absolutely have to stay at this dump make sure ahead of time that there are no circus events booked during your stay, because if there are your comfort and hospitality will be of little concern.
Added: Room not cleaned or made up by 3:30pm? They fail at every turn. Not Business class hospitality. I can’t wait to get my 1300 $ bill tomorrow morning. Can’t WAIT.

–plenty of parking? At the Jack in the Box? Or the strip mall down the street? The ones with «towing enforced; for customer only parking» signs? Every spot in your lot was full and there were two tour buses double parked in front. There was not ‘plenty’ of parking. Unless ‘plenty’ translates to ‘none’ in the fantasy world you live in.
As for music for 20 minutes… Thats inaccurate Claudio. You had a three ring circus right outside my window from 5pm till 7pm. Complete with Jesus Jimenez Little Havana Drum Ensemble and dancing Carnival Girls. I was at your Hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley for a BUSINESS trip not to witness the owner’s private ‘impress my pals at the chamber’ party. I had to cancel two conference calls because I couldn’t do calls from inside my room.
Either you’re running a hotel for business travelers or you’re running a banquet hall for local parties. You’re not big enough to do both. At the end of the day If I brought a pair of bagpipes and sat out at your pool at 5pm and played them for two hours I guarantee you’d have the sheriff remove me.
Bonus bullshit points for you arguing your poor business decisions with a paying customer rather than making an effort to resolve their quality concerns. It was the same attitude I got when I called the front desk to complain. Had management attended the Sally Struthers Institute of Business and Hair Design at a minimum, they would have taught you how to make an effort to resolve a customer sat issue not argue with them. Just proves further how you were more interested in showing off to your friends at the chamber at the expense of your paying guests. Thanks for proving my point.
Just so we’re clear, expectations from a business traveler are a nice quiet place, clean when they return from work, (not in the process of being cleaned), where we can conduct our business, do work, maybe catch up on the news on a TV that works, then go to sleep… Not park two blocks away at the Massage Parlor, hike back to a room with some lady running the vacuum at 4pm, cancel their work and stare at the ‘lost signal’ for two hours until the drum squad is done, then listen to management’s excuses while hoping your rental car hasn’t been towed. Too bad I can’t do a ZERO star review for pissing me off further.
Here’s a hint: If your going to have the circus in town you give your guests a LETTER in their room two days before, telling them. Explain there will be no parking, and you’ve made arrangements to park elsewhere and shuttle them back. Or better yet have your Chamber pals park elsewhere and reserve the limited parking for your guests. Offer them a quieter room, an expectation of when the quiet will resume, and if thats not sufficient have alternate lodging options for them. And NEVER argue with a dissatisfied customer… especially in a review. Had you made an effort to resolve the issue I would have revised and maybe given you some stars back. Instead you proved to everyone that you don’t know the first thing about running a service business. Kudos Claudio.

The bungalows were very spacious, but the kitchen was probably in need of some remodeling. The room smelled a bit funny too. It was decently priced though, and also had free parking, which is to be expected in the suburbs, but not always the case. Even though it’s right on El Camino Real, the bungalows were actually pretty quiet at night. Most of the patrons during the weekdays seemed to be business travelers (surprise, surprise).
The breakfast was just okay. I particularly liked the made-​to-​order omelettes cooked outdoors, but the ham was just too fatty and large-​cut for my tastes. The rest of the breakfast consisted of your usual suspects — sausages, scrambled eggs, yogurt, bagels, fruit, coffee, and tea. The happy hour hors d’oeuvres were nothing much. Just items like spring rolls, fruit, cheese (american, white cheddar, or swiss), and crackers.
The area can be a bit sketch, but the police were patrolling, thankfully. When I was walking around at night, two police cars pulled over a BMW and were arresting some Asian dude. In the morning, some police were scoping out at the lobby and parking lot for some other reason… yikes. Hope this area shapes up soon!

Stayed this past weekend. 24 hour room service is misleading as the menu is scaled back to «finger food» at 11 PM. Based on other reviews, the food isn’t even good. Grand Hotel is CLEARLY as 2 star hotel with «boutique band aids». Website makes it seem much better than it is. I would not return.

Ok for one night.
This place won’t wow you — it’s kind of a low end hotel, but close to Mountain View & Sunnyvale. They have some very modern finishes (granite in all the baths) and some very tacky ones (red velvet bedskirts).

I stayed here for two nights during late Dec and had an amazing time! Really friendly staff who helped me out with my heavy luggage arriving and departing. My room was clean, had fast wifi, comfortable bed, and was well heated.
Complimentary breakfast was pretty decent, they even have a guy designated to making omelettes, although the lineup tends to get quite long for that. What really tops this place off is the cocktail happy hours from 5−6pm, the bartender makes great mai tais.
They also had a shuttle service that takes you to close-​by locations. I came for an interview so found the shuttle service to be quite useful, though it did not arrive to pick us up on time. Luckily there wasn’t too much traffic on the road that day.

I have been to many hotels and I like to tell all that the price was very good Nd free happy hour and great customer service

The Grand Hotel needs to change its name to the «Not So Grand Hotel» because that better describes this hotel. I travel a lot domestically and internationally so I feel I have some type of authority to say when a hotel is not worth the rate they charged.
The Grand Hotels sent a limo to pick me up at the airport, making me thinking I was going to be staying at a plush 5 star… while upon walking into the hotel I knew this was no 5 star anything seeing how the automatic door wouldn’t close so I had to pull it shut. Checking-​in I noticed that while the staff was friendly they lacked the professional attire that one sees at any hotel/​motel (the girl who checked me in was wearing a hoodie and tights under her skirt).
When I walked into my room I felt like I had stepped back in time… say 1984. The upholstery on the sofa and the chair in my room looked like it use to be curtains, the chair at the desk was stiff and uncomfortable. The only saving grace about the room was that the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large with a stand alone shower and a bathtub big enough for two.
I could deal with all of thy above seeing how I was only staying at the hotel for one night, but the coffee stained hotel directory (see picture) was something that I found unacceptable. I’m guessing that sometime during 2013 or heck 2012 someone had spilled coffee on the hotel directory seeing how the pages where stained brown and curling up. The fact that housekeeping never thought to replace the directory with a new one shows a lack of professionalism and pride in their work.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worse enemy, though I would to an ex. LOL
