History

Established in 1998.

Bennington Properties is truly a family business. The founders of the company, Gene and Penny, recently celebrated 38 years of marriage. Penny’s sister, Carolyn, was an instrumental part of the company from its beginning and in 2006 Gene and Penny’s son Robert and his wife Holly joined the team.

Robert graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Zoology (the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree). While in school Robert met Holly, who was in the Spanish Masters Program at the University of Oregon.

The biggest change in the Bennington family has been the birth of Robert and Holly’s first, second, and third child (triplets). Born 3 months early on May 15, 2009, the three newest additions spent their first 3 months of life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Charles Hospital in Bend. Audrey, Oliver, and Grace are all doing great now and have become the delight and joy of the Bennington Family. In 2012 the Bennington’s welcome their fourth child, Abigail, to the family. Abigail has been a wonderful addition to the Bennington family and is certainly showing she can hold her own with her triplet siblings.

One notable thing about the Benningtons is their love for dogs. The founding dogs, Molly (yellow lab) and Kai (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) have both

Bennington properties made our one year anniversary so wonderful. We stayed on diamond peak lane in sun river. It was updated the furniture was comfortable we had a hot tub and made a fire In our fire place. I could call them at any time if I needed anything and they promptly responded to any and all the needs we had. We got there after a long drive and the heat was on and the house was cozy. The hot tub was running. We had champagne waiting for us with chocolates and even dog biscuits for our dog! Outstanding place to stay. I wish we could have stayed for ever! Thanks and they earned every positive thing I said :)

This company exceeded our expectations! We stayed at one of their SunRiver homes and had the best time. The house was immaculate, neat, clean, and ready for our arrival. Some last minute, same day requests to Bennington were delivered to the home before we arrived! They are friendly, professional, and a pleasure to do business with.
I even received messages directly from Mr. Bennington after arrival to ensure we were happy. THAT, is customer service!
If you want to find a nice vacation rental with literally no issues, and prefer to deal with professional, friendly staff, I highly recommend Bennington.

We’ve stayed at Bennington houses 10+ times over the years. We rent vacation houses several times a year and Bennington used to be our favorite because they are always clean & well stocked & priced right. Most of the houses have hot tubs and fire places. Bennington will also refund ½ your pool fees but you have to go find their main office to turn in the receipts. Its always easy to find a house big enough to fit our entire family (& dogs).
HOWEVER — now they put these new electronic door locks its been a pain to get in. We asked for early check in when we booked the property almost 4 wks earlier. They said on the phone it shouldn’t be a problem since the house was not booked before our stay but we should call a few days before we arrive just to make sure. We called 4 times and each time they said to call the next day. They day before we left they finally confirmed the doors will be unlocked by 1pm but the day we arrived (about 1:30) the code did not work because they lock did not know to let us in early. It only took them a few tries and about 5 minutes on the phone before we could get in. The same thing happened last year but it took them about 20 – 30 minutes to unlock the door. After a 4 hour drive and a wife that needs to pee & a baby that needs a new diaper — we just want in the house! It just sets a bad tone for the entire weekend…
If you don’t need early check in these are great houses and I would certainly recommend them for large families. I love the activities in Sunriver too. We went horse back riding and spent several hours at the observatory (w/​12 different HUGE telescopes) looking at stars & the moon. We walked through the cave and fed LOTS of chipmunks.

We love Bennington Properties! We just completed a 9 night stay in Sunriver – and this is the 2nd time that we have used Bennington. We rented the same house this year that we did last year because the overall experience was top notch. The house was very clean. Last year, the hot tub was old and cracking, and we made comment to this, and were VERY pleased to see the hot tub had been replaced. Bennington has amazing customer service – the whole rental process was so easy. Their prices seem VERY reasonable, and the check in and check out process so simple. No need to pick up keys at the office – the doors have number pads, and Bennington sends out the door access code ahead of time. We love that we can just arrive directly to the house, no fuss no muss. And the big topper is the dog friendliness… Treats for the dog, nominal $ 12 per night charge, free dog washing station (with warm water and provided towels!) at their office. They also have an amazingly large selection of FREE DVD loans. They even give you a bag of microwave popcorn when you borrow dvds. Can’t recommend them enough. We will definitely continue to rent from Bennington.

Our first time in Sunriver was AMAZING thanks in part to Bennington properties. Very friendly folks and our little cabin was perfect, just the right size, as described and clean as a whistle.
Wish that SHARC was included but we were able to purchase day passé at a discounted rate.
Will rent from them again and again!!!

I have to say that I was very impressed with Bennington. They accommodated us VERY last minute, the manager stayed up until 10pm to make sure we got in and all was good. The place was clean (11 East Butte), relaxing, good value. They had all the amenities (bikes, pool accessories, etc.) Very enjoyable. I worked with Jennay, and she was simply lovely. There was a misunderstanding between us and what I thought I heard her say, and they were quick to resolve and make accommodations as best they could. The last day, however, I was not impressed with a lady name Cindy, who upon checking out was VERY stressed out and it was evident. I’m pretty sure that she even used the «SH…» word. Outside of that the stay was perfect, and I would rent with these guys again in a heart beat.

We picked this home out of many available rental homes in Sunriver for the fact that it was listed as pet-​friendly. They really took that to a whole new level and we couldn’t be happier. Our stay began with a welcome packet that included many treats for our two dogs, dog bags and toys. The home itself was in great condition and they even delivered a few rental DVDs to the home before we showed up. The staff was very helpful and courteous throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend these homes to anyone who likes to vacation with their favorite furry family member.

Every time we stay in Sunriver — which is 3 or 4 times per year — we rent through Bennington. Their properties are always clean and well-​maintained, and their customer service is top-​notch.
Bennington is very family– and dog-​friendly, and the go above and beyond to make sure that your stay in one of their homes exceeds your expectations.
Their rental prices are competitive, and they offer great specials during the non-​peak seasons. I would strongly recommend them to enjoy looking to rent (or buy) in Sunriver!

this is our fifth (sixth?) stay with in sunriver using bennington properties. their customer service is top-​notch. if and when there have been issues (sticky front door key, a clock battery needed replacing, etc.), they showed up within 15 minutes of a call to address.
they have many dog friendly units. each time we arrive we (and our pooch) are greeted by a dog bowl, bandana, treats, bags, and special collar tag with their phone number on it, just in case… very thoughtful.
high season at sunriver can be crowded… very crowded. if you come after labor day, there are still two or three weeks before the weather turns cold… and bennington offers a «rent for two nights, get the third one free» off-​season special.
their overall pricing seems inordinately reasonable to what we’re used to in the bay area and elsewhere. throw in stellar customer service, and it’s a no-​brainer.

They were wonderful! So accomodating (baby gates delivered to rental property). Free movie rentals, prizes for the kids… so nice and helpful. The property we rented was clean and had everything we needed. If it was missing something they would have delivered it to us. They also offer «starter groceries» for your arrival! The rates on the properties were reasonable and they had so many places to choose from. Also, very pet friendly! We will keep using them for all our SunRiver Rentals!
