The Home Depot

Alright, so we’ve been here a lot lately, and they have really been helpful. Always friendly, and always willing to give good advice. I like that no matter who we talk to in there, it’s like we’re talking to a friend. Tonight was no different, when we accidentally put too many holes in the wall trying to find a stud. They walked around the store with us, and not only showed us where the spackle was, but walked us through which would probably be the best for our problem. The guy even found someone else who might be able to help with paint matching, and told us what we need to do. All in all, great place.

Home Depot can be a mixed bag of great customer service but poor communication between departments, and other general frustration. I try to overlook any negative because it seems to me that the store is making a real effort to do their best while working with a very large volume of people, as well as keeping up with extensive inventory. Yesterday I ran into a frustration that had me considering finding another store. But Kristen in the returns department went above and beyond to make my situation right. Thanks Kristen, and thanks to all of the staff who consistently reach out to offer help.

I wouldn’t recommend the «design team» for any kitchen cabinets or counter top. Both of my orders were a huge headache. I had to make at least six phone calls and two extra store visits. The cabinet order is still incomplete months later and I’m very disappointed with the kitchen counter «free» under mount fused sink that cost over $ 300 to factory install and is Not a proper kitchen sink. It’s 16“x20″ and a typical sink cabinet is 36“x24! They didn’t tell me the size– I’ve never seen a mini kitchen sink and as a carpenter I’ve been in hundreds of new kitchens. I tried un successfully to get the design manager to call me back and I then left a detailed review that was just rejected because they don’t believe customer service, install crew, or size matters. I love that they found the time to review and decline feedback yet can’t return a call after I’ve spent over 6k in their store.

Mr. Smidgens can fix almost anything! I have helped remodel homes, built decks, wired remote control chandeliers inside a tent for a wedding, and little projects here and there.
Recently i needed wood for signs, lights for trees, wood screws, and paint for our annual Halloween party. Well, they did not disappoint!
I found everything I needed, had the wood cut into just the right size, and even helped someone find the proper light bulbs for their ceiling fan.
Unfortunately I did not have time to go to Bed Bath and Beyond. :-(

Exchanged water heater that died under warranty. Used our long time plumber. I took pictures and called GE. They said the entered the info into computers. When we arrived, returns did not have a clue what to do. Customer service hooked me up and told them what to do. Lots of confusion but got er done and got it home for plumber to install.

Hope depot … oh home depot how I love thee. The African American guy at the paint area was oober nice and efficent. I like this location and will be back.
Sorry not more to say. but it is Home Depot?! Nails, tools, home stuff and more. oh and awesome summer clearance on furniture.

Wow… went in today specifically for Canna plants. There were none in Lawn/​Garden. I did see 10 plus baskets full of assorted shrubs, flowers, plants etc… also found tons of Cannas in the bunch. They looks like they were poor in healthy but thought possibly I could revived them. I asked a lady if HD is going to discount it as i was interested in the Cannas… Nope…HD is trashing them per their policy… so really wasteful… and sad to trash living things. I left empty handed. Lowes next stop!

I like this Home Depot because its the right size and not to far from my home. They typically have what I’m looking for for any home project I’ve done so far. I sometimes have to go searching for help when I need it but typically the help I get is pretty good. I love the 1 year return policy on plants and the free kid’s builder workshops. Sometime last year they even started giving free paint to the kids for painting the wood projects that they build.

Always friendly, dog welcome and loved by most, the anti big box store. I’ve never had trouble getting assistance and unlike their rivals in blue, they hire experienced folks who have industry knowledge.

The customers in the plumbing dept are more helpful than the almost non ecosystem employee that we had to ask for 5x before he showed up and then helped the guy who had just arrived instead of us…20 min later, still no help. We left and are going to Lowe’s. And y’all seriously need to consider carrying more 3 handle faucets that aren’t the cheap plastic handled ones. Lowe’s has them practically next door. Yay! And Lowe’s also has a button you can push to bring an employee over to help. Great idea! I also used to work at HD6542 and understand the workings of the store and employees.

Friendly customer service and great garden options.

Annette in flooring is the best! She walked us through the process of choosing flooring, called and dealt with customer service 3 times to get our quote correct, and shared her breakfast snack with me while we hashed out the details for about 2 hours! Best customer service ever.

I’ll keep it short and simple. I use Home Depot for a lot of things but won’t be returning. I buy tools here constantly, cleaning supplies, paint, did I mention tools? Jeez I buy a lot of tools.
My Fiancée rented a steam cleaner from Home Depot to clean our carpets. You get a day rental which cost $ 29 and a week rental is $ 116. When I realized my fiancée had not returned it for a day I loaded it up and headed up there. I knew we would get hit with another $ 29 because she forgot to return it the following day. My fiancée went in and paid and walked up saying «that was really expensive» and handed me a receipt for $ 103. Look I’m not cheap ass but $ 103 to rent a f’ing steam cleaner for 2 days ?? It’s $ 116 for a week! So what gives? Let’s get down to fine print which Home Depot doesn’t tell you when you rent. They don’t let you know you need to return it exactly 24 hours from when you rented it in order not to get charged extra and if you go 3 hours over your charged another day. Well we went 2 days 3 ½ hours so they hit us for $ 29×3 plus tax for a steam cleaner rental.
I get it, I get it, you need to return the equipment in time in order to not get charged. Well Home Depot needs to be more clear instead of taking advantage of young women. If I had rented the thing I would have had it back the next day. My fiancée is young and has a full schedule on her hands. No one explained this was the process to her and we ended up paying for it. I don’t like a business that I spend thousands in each year for my business and personal use hitting me for any extra cash they can. I’m loyal customer but will not be returning to Home Depot again after being taken advantage of and will take my business to Lowe’s.

I’m currently in the process of renovating my house. Translation: I live at Home Depot. For example, last Sunday, I had to visit Home Depot 5 times in one day. Home Depot is not the place from which I would necessarily buy tile, carpet, or a new kitchen (there are other places that specialize in that). However, when it comes to tools and parts, Home Depot is my place! The staff is friendly and ready to answer all my questions to help with my weekend projects.

This review is for the «kitchen design» section. I decided to put my faith into Home Depot and completely renovate my kitchen with them. I was told the process would take around 10 weeks and the most intensive part would be in the beginning with the planning. I would show them what I had, someone would come in and do measurements, then I would talk to the «designer» about what I wanted and they would basically take over. This didn’t happen at all. I honestly don’t have the time or patience to run through everything that went wrong so I’ll list out some of the major problems (and by the way — we started this the first week of December and I’m just going to be getting counter tops this week (April 7^th) — and we’re still not done).
Jim, the subcontractor, took around three weeks to get the plans back to Home Depot, when he said it would take him around two days. He also wouldn’t answer my phone calls as I wanted to check up to where the plans were. I left four messages, and when he answered on the fifth try, he gave me really bad excuses.
I was told by the «designer» that we would be getting a free sink base as part of a promotion. Turns out the promotion had ended so American Woodmark didn’t make the sink base. I refused to pay for it as we were told it would be free and had to bring it up to the squishy assistant store manager Rhett Ponder (I’ll get to him next). So they had to «rush order» the sink base. The «rush order» took 4 weeks, which is as long as the other products took… so it wasn’t a rush order.
Because we had no sink base, the counters couldn’t be measured for a counter top order, so instead of being sinkless for around 2 – 3 weeks, we have been sinkless for two MONTHS.
Our «designer» ordered the wrong pantry kit (it had no kit in it) so I had to go back in and reorder one. She started to ask me how many of a certain kit I needed. I told her I had no idea. (Why is she asking me? Isn’t she supposed to be the expert??) Turns out she still ordered the wrong kit (it was again «rush ordered» and took 3 weeks) so my husband did the research and ordered the correct set himself and it came in two weeks.
By this point I was furious about everything. We had planned on the kitchen being done by the end of February and the counter tops weren’t even going to get measured by then. It was the most frustrating experience. I went in to complain to Rhett about this, but all he does is make up excuses.
With our countertop order, we were supposed to get a free sink and faucet with our order as part of another promotion. My husband got a call from the counter people saying to make sure that we had a faucet so they could install it when they came with the counter tops. That doesn’t sound like they have one, so again, we were lied to about getting a free faucet when I know I ordered the one with the free faucet.
Rhett is the most pathetic excuse for an assistant manager. He hardly ever answers his email (he gave me his work and personal email and told me that his phone is always with him so he’ll always answer his emails quickly — I sent him one last week with no response and just sent another about this newest faucet fiasco and I’m guessing I’ll hear nothing back). I had gone in to complain about this disaster called my kitchen remodel and all he did was make excuses about how he has a family so he is a busy person. I don’t know what that has to do with bad store practices, bad communication, bad training and bad contractors. Every time I would complain and offer solutions he would just look away and come up with a bad excuse.
This kitchen remodel started out exciting but has turned into a giant disaster that is not fun at all. I just want it to be over with.
Our counter tops come tomorrow, we went out and bought our own faucet, and then we have to call Home Depot’s contractors back in to install a drawer as the ordered one didn’t work right, and an extra filler, along with the kick plates. Once these things are complete I think I’ll be able to forever cut my ties with Home Depot.
I do plan on contacting the actual Store manager, printing off my emails, and talking to him about Rhett. I had asked Rhett for the manager’s contact info twice and have never received it which is very wrong in my opinion.
Three words work in this whole experience: BAIT and SWITCH. Twice I’d been promised free items as part of a promotion and twice they turned out to be untrue. I’ve talked to other people about my experiences and they actually think I should pursue more monetary reimbursements. I spent so many hours on the phone and days and weekends back at home depot, fixing problems they wouldn’t fix.
So what am I trying to say? DON’T GO HERE

I came in to pick up things for our new dryer (vent and cord — oh fun: P). Everyone was so friendly!
I’ve read other reviews and I have to say that I have never experienced a moment at this Home Depot where someone passed me over because I am a girl or because I was looking at something with a small price tag. I go to this store for all of my air filters, I went here to buy all of the materials to build a bed frame, I went here when I was looking for paint, I went here when I needed nails to hang photos and I always come here for any small tool thing I might need — and every person I have encountered has been friendly and helpful. You sometimes have to approach the staff, as they can get rather busy.
I not only recommend this location to others, I’ve come here with friends and family and will continue doing so.

We got our new front door installed from here. If you’re in the market for one… go to Lowes. Lower prices and friendlier customer service. We made the mistake of trusting HD again, but it’s the last time. The door was installed very poorly. Trim was crooked/​not sitting against the wall. Door alarm was cut and uninstalled without our permission. Nail holes were left gaping open, despite being told they would be filled, front porch «clean up» was a joke. Materials and dirt were swept under and behind the flower pots. I had to pull out nails and chunks of wood from areas the installer thought were «hidden». Just shoddy workmanship all around.
Upon leaving 4 messages with the installer and calling at least 8 times to no answer, we finally got in touch with HD again. The result? This exact quote «it’s your problem now».
Save yourself the money and high blood pressure. Go elsewhere.

DON’T PURCHASE THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN (or anything else if you can help it)!! You probably knew that already. We had a 4 year warranty on a fridge transferred to us when we purchased the fridge from the original owner, and it’s like pulling teeth. Seriously Home Depot.
As far as I can tell, the solenoid has gone bad in the door dispenser unit (thank you internet), and Home Depot isn’t going to repair it because it’s a «consumer replaceable part».
Well, the plan clearly states it covers «100% functional parts and labor». I understand you don’t want to cover silly things like knobs.
But to actually do the repair I, as the consumer, would have to:
figure out how to safely remove the control panel
remove it
figure out how to safely remove the assembly
figure out how to remove the solenoid
replace the solenoid
This is consumer replaceable? If so — isn’t just about EVERYTHING on the fridge consumer-​replaceable?
Seriously Home Depot, you’re engendering a lot of bad will for a quick fix and a $ 40.00 part… and the 45+ (and ongoing) minutes on hold to speak with a supervisor about my claim isn’t helping. And I’m pretty sure the «supervisor» just hung up while going to ‘look into it’.
Go to Lowe’s. Clearly Home Depot couldn’t possibly care less. 0 stars.

The lighting selection left a lot to be desired and the woman at the paint counter was not only unhelpful bit downright rude. The lowes next door was a much better experience.
My husband went back to Home Depot two days later to get something else and the staff was so rude he actually spoke to a manager about it.
Will be avoiding this particular Home Depot in the future if at all possible

I was at Home Depot a few days ago and this one I tend to visit the most. I pretty much have this store memorized. I went in to buy air filters, Miracle Grow, and tie wraps and had no problem finding them but I was continuously asked by several floor staff if I needed help which is nice. And I did asked someone if they had Velcro and sure enough I was not just told where it was but the staff employee walked me down to where it was.
The store carries pretty much everything, but a lot of times I am looking for a particular brand and have to get it somewhere else. I am happy with this HD which when built it was the largest store and always fun to walk around. Checkout was fast and decide to not use the self checkout but a real person. Everybody greeted me as I left the store. I am sure I will be back again.
